I plan to replace the bulkhead sound insulation on my rebuild as I prefer less noise over the slight risk of water retention. This area shouldn't get wet anyway and on my car the bulkhead was one of the few panels that hadn't suffered serious corrosion in the original shell.
It seems like the Mini had so many water traps and i remember Sean C saying the same thing about the insulation on the bulkhead holding mosture and rotting them out.
