Tom Cruise has conquered everything in film yet he takes time to speak so fondly of a friend he so admired. The industry doesn’t have many like this.

True. Have you watched Kidman’s interview? Her assistant reminded her they were getting late but she insisted she wanted to properly finish the interview about Kubrick. He clearly had a strong influence over them and they both were very fond of him.

    • @deepdirt

“Takes time to speak fondly about a friend” with all due respect it’s Stanley Kubrick he has miles more prestige and legacy than Tom Cruise. Tom cruise is the lucky one in this scenario and seems to understand that so that’s a good thing.

You can tell how much tom & nic loved stanley. In both their interviews, their reactions are like no other interview they've ever done. 3 years is a LONG time, especially in Hollywood standards to work on a single project, especially on the schedule they worked with. The emotions run deep.

    • @pitpride1220
      @pitpride1220 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@ten-dimensional Yes, it was crazy. Tom is a pretty intense actor. Kubrick demanded realism. So they had to literally become these parts. Which required them to dip into pain points, sexual and emotional struggles they had as a couple. I'm sure in some cases, filming caused some of these issues they were able to mine from. That's painful. A fully immersed experience like this would make it almost impossible to break character. Kubrick is so focused on details. I think the only director I've heard these types of things about consistently is Fincher. He will do 290 takes if it requires it. Kubrick was the same.

All you angry children condemning Tom Cruise...Kubrick chose him for the role because he is aware of many things that you are clearly not...and the results are clear in the film. His role in the Eyes Wide Shut gives him a pass for life. The biggest difference between you who display an infantile hatred for Cuise and Tom Cruise is this, he is a brilliant leading man in a Kubrick film, and you will never be in a Kubrick film, or any other film for that matter.

My father LOVED 2001, he remembers the very first time he saw it as a kid, and he remembers every little detail in the theatre, the smell of the popcorn, the excitement of the audience, how it was the most memorable experience ever... everything was perfect besides this annoying kid sitting on his dads shoulder right in front of him, that he couldn't really pay attention to the whole film, he always said he thinks he could've been the biggest actor ever if it wasn't for that kid ruining his experience, killing his drive him to follow his dreams, I wonder what happened to that kid.... 2:16

This is the one out of all of them that didn’t feel real for even one second of it. It’s hard to describe but the guy is insufferable. Clearly I’m not the only one based on the other comments. Go watch Bill Mumy or Ron Howard tell their story in one of those interviews and you will see what I mean. And I like Tom Cruise and respect his accomplishments. He’s just like that and it’s probably why he has done so well, but it creeps me out.

there's some sort of weird cognitive bias in America that presumes economic/field success to project across disciplines.
likely related to the capitalist fetishization of money, as it too pretends to equate/boil all things down to a relatable value (e.g. the cost of cancer treatment for one person = Ten 4-year-scholarships for 10 different students--as if they can truly be equated. A longstanding philosophical dilemma which fiat currency has supposedly "solved").

It did in fact. It’s not stupid when you have timelines & Parallels. What people don’t understand about “conspiracy theories” is the conspiracy part was made by the media (yes sometimes things are false) but the key is the theory: think my friends:
Why would an very highly intelligent director who was KNOWN for movies like this that stuck with people no different from Spielberg to Guillermo & many others - the point is he made this film KNOWING what he was speaking on, doing, & who was involved. He told NO ONE, he involved people he’d known for years down to the point where people didn’t know the ADDRESS. Tom said “it’s worth it”, let’s look at these issues -, come on hes half praising him half angry because he KNOWs what the MEANING meant. K didn’t die BEfore it’s release, he died after he showcased it to the main, they then retracted it and edited out the most important part that would’ve made you realize the reality of everything kind of like your brain clicking. That’s how directors work, they take so much time editing and cutting and re arranging like a producer with music because it’s a story and it has to be told right to make it click

Nonetheless have some issues with media summerizing and equating an individual with thier spiritual beliefs. Raised in a Catholic environment, notwithstanding judging or evaluating an individual based on philosophical beliefs was not accepted.

@@merlinalfonso6374 17:52 watch his reaction to the interviewer asking that question - his cheeks redden, lack of words, scratching neck are all signs of uncomfortableness & when he speaks on the funeral part he pauses and says the movie, he knows what it meant to “them”. Come on guys, don’t be slow, actor or not, the body doesn’t lie “he says this is not true” why? Because it wasn’t his time, they know why. It was illogical and when the human brain can’t conceive, it shuts down, and imagine negative demonic energy adding to that illusion?

    Back to Tom Cruise,
Was introduced to novel Dianetics early in life, maybe 18 years old. Could not rap my head around it. However ,a few years later discovered read Science of Survival. A big read, nonetheless bugged my eyes out. There's absolutely nothing in that script I don't agree with.

I like Tom Cruise, but the fact that He..& his then wife 'Nicole Kidman' were cast in "Eyes Wide Shut" says a lot about what Stanley Kubrick was saying in this film? Why cast a very famous acting couple, who both belong to a 'dubious religions cult' (Scientology)..in such a controversial Film?
Kubrick knew what he was doing?...but I feel he over stepped his influenced in this film & it cost him his life. The film makes no sense in it's editing..it's not a Kubrick finished edit?

Tom and Nic are pro actors, none other than Kubrick could exploit them to the greatest extent. Its why they agreed to do the film, for art. A love in itself.

They cut out 20 minutes of the movie after he died... its rumored that nichole Kidman was ritually raped by the man she was dancing with who was in fact the man in the red robe. The leader of the cult. Hence why she was having all the flashbacks and losing her mind.... ritual sacrifice abuse.....

Allen Greene DO you have any idea what Scientology did to them? They broke them up and then brainwashed his kids that their mom was evil, made sure the kids hated their mom and is an SUPPRESSIVE PERSON. That’s what the cult calls ppl they don’t want around. Scientology didn’t want her because she was taking Tom away and they need him for PR. It’s a disgusting cult who splits up families. She’s so lucky she got away from Tom but those poor kids are brainwashed and stuck in the cult
