In the late 90s, my buddy would throw forehand but his thumb would be under the disc. He had the longest drives out of all of us and his accuracy was insane. Never seen anyone else throw like that. And I should mention he would use a midrange disk too.
I love Eric Oakley, he’s one of my favorite players but I don’t know if I consider his forehand mechanics that unique. He has a little hop in it but I can think of a few guys that also do that. His backhand is pretty unorthodox compared to most touring pros these days though.
The guy that introduced me to disc golf back in like 2003 did the RHBH drive starting completely backwards so that's what I naturally started doing, gets a nice snap off the fingers with a driver. I've never seen anyone else do it and I never got super serious into disc golf (life is busy). I wonder if anyone else drives like that. Line up your shot direction, turn around, take a few steps to the back of the tee, arm out level in front of you, 2-4 steps backwards with the normal end on the plant foot and arm movement. I was making 150-250' drives consistently at 15 with no experience throwing a disc of any kind.
The athleticism is mind boggling.. What sacrifice these superhumans endure for their craft.. We mere mortals shall never know the glory of standing upon Disc Mountain, to be annionted by the Grand-pooba himself...
I keep both hands on my disc in my backhand reachback. But honorable mentions to Eric Vandenberg for unique hyzer flip and putting styles. To Max Crotts for relying on the chicken wing. To Alec Falzone for his wide-flying wings. To Kevin Gaskins for his crow-hop (and beard). And that's just people I met in NC.
Josh Anthon could have been on the list. Seppo Paju demostrated that Koling's pterodactyl as a roller in his getting out of trouble video. I saw a video from FPO maybe 3-4 years ago and there was a young woman who had a very unique run-up and forehand form. Just can't remember her name. Hokom's name was spelled wrong, but doesn't matter.
Probably the cringiest forehand in existence. Why does he pop, lock, and drop it before he throws? Looks like he learned his forehand at the stripclub!!!!!!!
@@wcstrawberryfields8011 Right!! I'm not undermining his talent. It's just that throwing style is ultra unique to be polite. The judgemental part of my flesh goes crazy when I watch this guy throw
I can throw Right AND left hand backhand and forearm. My left hand forearm is weaker, but my LHBH is just as powerful and same distance as RHBH...which for me is great because my RHFA isn't always accurate. I can also hold the disc in my right hand (disc upside down, palm up), bring my hand into my hip, then as i throw the disc, i rotate my hand clockwise (disc upright, palm down) and flick my wrist to throw the disc (disc is straight out to the side, not inside near me) i use to do this with regular frisbees when i was younger and translated it to disc. I don't have the distance with it, it's just fun to use because it's weird. Didn't see anyone here doing it.
Here I thought I was the only one to ever to fold a blowfly gumputt up, and putt with it. Maybe i was the first to do it, not sure, did it about 14 years ago.
@@subspaceanomaly No but if I can't go long on a putt because of water or whatever I will sometimes do it. But one of the problems is nobody thinks it's legal, so expect to have to prove it to somebody on your card lol.
No, it means you’re alive inside. It’s like when you see drunk people walking around all loud and boisterous. You secretly are hoping for them to fall or do something embarrassing.
Whenever my family asks me how to throw the disk, I tell them that everyone does it differently. So instead of telling them how to throw, I tell them what happens when you throw backhand vs forehand, and where to aim throws/putts. This video shows why you should never copy someone else's form 100%
Several of those forms were absolutely counter productive as you could see by the bad shots. That last female throwing a forehand started off straight down and then tried "lifting" it into shape was a fail...Like trying to make it harder than it needs to be,,, Keeping the disc on the same plane as what you're trying to throw takes all the mistakes out...
So what are your thoughts on Dixon Jowers page talking about how you are just editing other content providers to make your own? Personally I think you are giving them great ideas for future vids but sounds like they aren't happy with you.
THE ULI WARM UP HAD ME DEADDDDDD!!!!
Does anyone else do that all the time? I do lol
I thought the first sound effect was an accident then I realized it was the editing and started cracking up
No lie literally had to play that back
I love how it’s a thing to just give this man a hard time, I lost it in on the first smack sound.
I'd pay 100 bucks to get my ass slapped by uli
I love that Matt Orum always looks ready for whatever ska show is in town that night.

Was there disc golf in the 90’s?
@@TheSlambert123 short answer - yes. I believe it became more organized as a sport in the 70's.
How the heck can you throw a fore with thumb under the disc 😂
I need to see this lol

Paul Ulibarri's forehand warm up at 3:08 is my favorite out of all of these 😆
Sarah hokum forehand looks more difficult than throwing normal, Jesus! Ulis warm up incredible!!! 😂
Watch it at 25% speed. It's amazing
It looks awkward af but she really has all the angles and pretty impressive distance too. How I have no clue.
I don't know if it's true, but I heard her throwing style is the result of a horrific car accident she was in.
I was about to be upset if that pterodactyl shot wasn’t in there... and it was. A thing of beauty
It's wild

@JADON NAVA no it's not a chicken wing it's a backhand grip

Great video, good pace, enough info, well done :)
Oakley HAS to kill it on the dancefloor with that backhand form man. I unironically love it.
And those pants? Man's built for the club
@@TheTjoconnor right?!!? Love it!
I think Mcray uses the driver on that turbo putt to get a little extra hook on it so that he could get around the obstacle in front of him.
Yeah it's hard to get that flight with a putter

@5:44 seems more like a contact hitter lol
I thought I’d see a windmill forehand. Saw a guy on my local course and it was phenomenal.

McBeth: lick fingers, wipe on pants, lick fingers, almost lick fingers again, wipe on pants, then throw
I mock him and do that like 12 times before I throw 20 feet and hit a tree.
this comment made my day xDDDDD
Excellent. Very insightful. Sarah Hokum. Very unique form with tremendous power generated from the ground up.

the forehand sound, magic
This is your best video imo
Can anyone tell me what video Jeremy Kolings part is from?
Goes to show that unique doesn’t equal good. Those turbos were on point tho
I think Matt bell should be under unique form. His throws drive me absolutely insane, but I guess if it works for ya.. 🤷♂️
Andrew Presnell before putting just pisses me off for some reason
The Brinster hop!
His putting too
Jake Lauber’s run-up is UNIQUE. I thought he was about to drop a deuce.
Andrew Fish weird stretch before putting always cracks me up. You need that one.
Weird slow awkward stretch, then just jams it.
Never clicked so fast! 👍
Okay I see how you mean Eric Oakley's backhand form is unique, but I really think his sidearm is very textbook
What disc did the guy throw for the flop shot anyone?
I know nothing about disc golf idk why it’s on my recommended but still kinda cool
The sound effects for Ulibarri...😂😂
Some of these are at Cameron park east side in Waco love that coarse well until you get into the woods the flats are fun. Good luck on the beast.
Was hoping to see Emerson Keith on here with his unique putting style.
