This is probably around the time I first got to see the show, I had to be 11 or so. Both times I ever saw it was with Colm Wilkinson so…yea the blasts of nostalgia I’m experience right now is blowing my mind. Thank you dearly to whomever recorded this, I never thought I’d get to see this performance again.
gotta admit the bit @4:09 where the music unintentionally wavers due to a glitch in the video was a perfect added element to her seducing him. it had a lovey dovey feel to it
While still frowned upon then, I'd have to imagine they weren't nearly as worried about spreading the footage because doing so was a lot harder than it is today
I saw Phantom five times in Toronto as a teenager. This is absolutely incredible to see again, and be transported back to the Pantages in 1992. I was at the 1992 Second Anniversary Gala. I finally met Colm in 2013, got to shake his hand, sing the first line of Bring Him Home for him, and get an autograph on the leather mask I’d bought at Intermission 20 years before.
Agreed! Colm Wilkinson has a wonderful voice and pulls one in with his acting. I find Patti Cohenour to be breathtaking vocally as well as in her acting. There is something very very special about her. They're both incredible together.
Colm Wilkinson was my fav phantom second is Crawford. it was also cool seeing Paul Stanley from Kiss Close the Canadian cast run at the pantages in Toronto.
Just found this and I can't thank you enough for posting it. I have the Canadian recording, but I really wanted to SEE him do this number. It's everything I thought it would be. I wish I could find the Letstat and Company recordings (or some version thereof). I have his Being Alive from one of his albums, but I would love to hear him hit that high note in the "Bobby" opening number of Company.
I have been waiting so long to see someone post this production with Colm. Thanks so much...it's all I expected. He has this Minnesota lover of his fine voice and his emotional use of it just thanking you again. Sandy B
Lestat is one of his strongest performances ever imho. He also kicked ass in Company. His rendition of "Being Alive" is definitely the best I've ever heard. I know there is a video of the whole show but sadly I can't find it... :(
Patti was the original CHRISTINE ALTERNATE on Broadway Claire Moore was the original CHRISTINE ALTERNATE in London Both sound so much like Sarah Brightman (whom they both alternated with)
Patti was the first understudy on Broadway, Claire Moore on West End. When Sarah left the show, Claire took over and Rebecca Caine was the understudy. Then in the Toronto Production Rebecca and Colm were the Phantom and Christine in 1994, and are listed as the Original Canadian cast. I want that CD
Well all that I know is! That the Phantom took away the apple and give Christine that wine cup. And I was thinking that giving her the wine cup would be a part of his plan. So he can take her by force at the rightful place at the rightful time!
He's trying to lure her back to his side. Although you could say that his character, Don Jaun, is trying to get Christine's character, Aminta, drunk in an attempt to seduce her
Too bad the Hollywood version went too "lite" on the disfigurement. The stage version had to stylize and go heavy so the people in the nosebleed seats could see it. In the movie, it looks like he just has a minor skin condition.
I think the prosthetic for the 25th got it pretty good. Not too heavy, not too light, and still very realistic (aside from the gash in the skull, but it works. Maybe the classic head dent would have worked better)
Or had gotten stung by a bunch of bee's! The movie is so disappointing in many ways especially when it came to the Phantom's facial disfigurement. Did not like the cast at all either 👎

Fun fact: Ramin Karimloo credits Wilkinson as his influence for playing the Phantom.

Colm wilkinson has made this world a better place to live and should have his name in every hall of fame ever
Oh god yes! The man is epic!
Man, sneaking a camcorder into a theater in 1992 must have taken a hell of a lot of committment!! Great video!!
True. With VHS cassette, second battery and just 5 kg weight. I want to go back in time and record Crawford, Brightman and Wilkinson in HD.
Must have had a big trenchcoat
@@FelizNAVIDad293 or bag. Those 90s man, much simpler times
Are there any official recordings of these performances? I would pay to get a good recording of POTO with Colm.

My man killing it as Valjean, Erik, and the Bishop.

The quality is pretty freaking amazing comepared to other old boots of phantom I have thank you ! I love Patti as Christine :3
I saw this performance, in Toronto Twice. Amazing.
You're welcome! I'm so glad you like it. Colm is one of my only 2 all-time favorite Phantoms as well. :)

Really liked this video! All the best!!
Oh, I mean he's one of my only 2 all-time favorite Phantoms. The other one is Hugh Panaro. ;)
There is only one phantom...Colm Wilkinson was the best!
Was? You mean "is"!
Fair enough!
Do you happen to have a live video of Colm sining MOTN during the production
Is there a full recording of this somewhere?

***** A lot of people said it was Patti (the first American to go on). She took over for Sarah.

Uhm, what do you mean?
This has become my porn.
There is an unknown question is the Phantom trying to make Christine drunk?
He's trying to lure her back to his side.
Although you could say that his character, Don Jaun, is trying to get Christine's character, Aminta, drunk in an attempt to seduce her
I hate how colm always sings sticatto
