I think his point is that Wano's significance goes way beyond swords. Wano being "the land of swordsmen" is only the 3rd or 4th most relevant thing about Wano and its history imo (they made the poneglyphs, have closed their borders, and have an ancient weapon)

Zoro fought a guy named "Sword God Ryuma" the former world's strongest swordsman who then told him about his country.
He then met Kinemon who showed him sword techniques and told him that the sword he got from Ryuma is a national treasure.
At least 3 Supreme grade blades were made by people from Wano including the one used by a member of the Gorosei.
Oden and his group of swordsmen are capable of damaging Kaido with swordsmanship. Arguably the greatest feat of swordsmanship in the stoey till date.
Wano is so sword country that the people who left Wano founded a swordsmith and sword school village.

Wano gave Zoro nothing but feats. Realistically he did get a big spotlight, but only to show his strength. We rarely get anything more from the guy except cool shit. I was expecting lore or something to compliment it. I also thought Franky would get a little something in Egghead since he spent time in his hometown during the timeskip, but I guess it wasn’t his time 🤷🏾♂️

Im not understanding, did Tony want Zoro to finish off Kaido himself orrr what? Zoro had more screen time than any other Strawhat, he learned the origins of his weapons, he acquired Enma from Odin's Daughter which offered him a new level of power, He learned that he had conquerors haki, damaged Kaido which no one could really do beside Odin or someone with strong Haki, Learned he had a connection with Ryuma, defeated a Lunarion, a god-like race, and he MET death. Wano was legit a Zoro compilation idgi.

Let me spell it out for you then. Aside from powerups, what's the difference between pre and post Wano Zoro as a character?
Post WCI Sanji has a lot more depth to his character since we went in depth to his origins, why he treats women nice, why he's as strong as he is, his lineage and more.
Wano wasn't even a "Franky in Water 7" level exploration of Zoro's character. If Wano was "Zoro's arc" and all we got was powerups and Oda name dropping his parents in side material maybe the Zoro haters have a point when they say Zoro has no depth and is just sword man.

Zoro did get more depth in Wano, him fully unlocking his conq vs king was character development for him, he put his goal on the same level as Luffy's goal which was something he wasn't doing before (See Thriller bark). Zoro has always been a character focused on strength, that is what gets him closer to his main goal, his family and history don't matter to him so why would it be super fleshed out in the manga?

@flameron1 we don't him to be scared is equivalent to we want sanji to finally kick women lol. Cowardice is a core of his character. He's not gonna become an ultra Chad in one arc. Plus he's shown his bravery despite his cowardice multiple times in the story. It's one of the reasons why luffy recruited him. His bravery in syrup village to defend his villagers and Kaya is what convinced luffy to ask ussop to join his crew. Zoro was gonna have Conquerer's because of his goal and his desire for that, even hawkeye admited it Sanji had a second backstory and had a whole tragic story going on with luffy and one of the warlords. Zoro fought a mentally ill person and protected a girl who at best gave him cuddles after.
My guy what did you think Asura was? Zoro discovered conqueror's at Ennies Lobby and increased proficiency in combat just like Luffy in Wano.
Then he fought one of the top 3 strongest antagonists just like in every other arc.
He got a new sword? Cool. I guess Loguetown is a Zoro arc too.
Zoro parried an attack from 2 Yonkos that the captains of the worst Generation could not block or dodge. Granted he almost died straight after but that was a COLD moment.

You can like a character who is useless in fights. Usopp is one of the funniest (if not the funniest) characters on the crew. His jokes and gags are pretty funny, and they don't get old for me (compared to Sanji's gags, for example, which got old very quick). That's a pretty good reason to like a character

The reason why people believe that Elbaf is Usopp’s arc is because they literally hung that gun up on the second ever saga of One Piece, and now the gun’s ready to fire. With Wano, there wasn’t any reason to believe it’d be Zoro’s arc other than speculation: Sanji got his arc in Whole Cake, and Wano was a samurai land, ergo, it’s gonna be a Zoro-centric arc, and barring the fact that Zoro got a lot of precedence in that arc, it ain’t what people expected. Elbaf was literally hinted at during that arc, with Usopp saying that he wanted to be like the warriors that came from that arc, so I’m sorry, but I disagree.

Pre-timeskip Usopp is one of the sole reasons I stuck so closely to One Piece. His humor, his charm, his smarts, his gimmick, his role, and his multiple talents all played an important part to me loving his character, the crew, and the story.
But POST TIMESKIP?!?! Mannnn I couldn't care less... As much as I loved him pre-ts, it's like Usopp and Usopp fans have taken a backseat to the rest of the crew. Cool he sniped Sugar, wtf else has he done that's worth noting. It's like I've been forced to choose another strawhat as my favorite (shoutout Sanji & Brook; not that I don't like the rest of the strawhats, but we all route stronger for certain crewmates and that's a fact). And as much as I hope he gets an immense buff during the Elbaf arc, how much can I trust that when even Franky didn't get to bond his idol in Vegapunk much.
I'll stay stuck to One Piece because the lore is unmatched, but as for being an Usopp fan (post timeskip), my hope is slowly dwindling.
People when all 9 main cast members dont get highlights. There has been 6 arcs post timeskip. Fishman, punk hazard, dressrosa, zou, wci, wano, and egghead. Fishman he did about as much as the average straw hat (mainly flexing), punk he capyured the spin fruit guy and baby 5, dressrosa he clutched, zou didnt really have much to do, wci wasnt in it, and wano and egghead he had his moments here and there but toom a backseat. Lets look at someone else like brook. Flexed in fishman, fought kinemon or something in ounk hazard, was only in dressrosa for a bit, zou wasnt there, wci carried, wano basically just supported robin in her fight, and egghead took a backseat

Before watching this video... Without Usopp the crew would have been toast long before they made it past the Grandline until they got Franky.
The only reason everybody got this “blank is blank’s arc” mindset was because wci with Sanji. People thought egghead was franky’s arc but Oda never showed us any reason for that. Wano wasn’t Zoro’s arc we were headed there for a while anyway. Elbaf has always been tied to Usopp.

Lmao I had some good chuckles out of this conversation. But for real Usopp was the mvp of dressrossa. He freed everyone from puddings spell (which was OP and robin had already fallen to it so he’s saved Robins life twice) then he got everyone to help Luffy charge up the mountain to get to Doffy for a fight, then he made that sniper shot on pudding that no one else could have made (besides the two other snipers on the other yonko crews). I see where Tony is coming from tho cause most of Usopps feats are kind of lucky or right place at the right time.(besides he’s sniper feats, ain’t gonna take that from him)

No it isn't. When they enter the Grand Line, when they smash the barrels and declare their dreams, the reason Usopp sets sail is "to become a brave warrior of the sea". HOWEVER meeting Dorry and Broggy gives him the perspective that the warriors of Elbaf ARE the type of brave warrior he always wanted to be. Elbaf is his dream island (in his mind) but his dream isn't intrinsically linked to Elbaf.

Nah hold up, Usopp has been a clutch player in 85% of the story. This might be long, fair warning.
#1. If it wasn't for Usopp, Robin, Luffy, and Law would've been turned into toys at Dressrosa and everyone would've forgotten about them.
#2. Usopp is a big reason that they got through Enies Lobby by getting help from the Giants and saving Robin by sniping the soldiers on the bridge trying to bring Robin through the gates of justice.
#3. Usopp was the person responsible for defeating Perona, who no one could defeat due to her abilities.
#4. Usopp was the biggest reason the tides turned in Onigashima by sniping the kibi dango into the gifters mouths.
#5. Usopp gained the trust of the tontatta's in dressrosa. Without the tontatta's they would have not been as successful as the straw hats were in Dressrosa.
Also, Wano wasn't able to be sword land due to Orochi confiscating weapons and banning all forms of fighting to prevent rebellions. There have been plenty of moments in each arc, Usopp returning to save the tontatta's to face Trebol, Nami declaring Luffy will be king of the pirates against Ulti, Sanji calling Robin for help against Black Maria.
I could make more points, but there are plenty of reasons Usopp has developed and has ties to Elbaph. Also, Robin, Nami, and Sanji have all left the crew at one point, Sanji left because he didn't believe in Luffy's strength.
Usop's arc is Elbaf , it has been foreshadowed for so long....

Luffy was mentored by shanks, has a df, and born with conq haki, zoro was trained in swordsmanship when young and also trained by the worlds strongest swordsman, sanji has jerma genes and is a cyborg, franky was an apprentice to the man who built gold rodgers ship, robin was taught by some of the knowledgeable islands in the world of one piece. Chopper was trained by one of the best doctors and has a df, Brook is only able to do basically anything because of his df, Nami was basically gifted zeus because of a weapon Usopp made her. Jimbe is a fishman who was taught fishman karate. everything usopp is and does comes purely from self training and first hand knowledge and experience. The only exception is pop greens. Other than that Usopp is literally self made. He aint get any hand outs like everyone else.
