    Seth, just passed my Private checkride today and want to thank you for sharing your experience, insight and knowledge through your excellent videos. My DPE was indeed impressed when I reviewed the completed Foreflight checklist you had mentioned in a previous video. I literally had zero Foreflight experience just a few weeks ago; and primarily by putting into practice the information shared through your videos, I received very generous compliments regarding my usage of Foreflight prior to and during flight.
    Please keep them coming; each video is a wealth of information. Already working towards my instrument rating and look forward to learning and applying the information you share. Thanks again!

    Seth, Hello. I really appreciate your youtube podcast. I heard about you on Max Trescott podcast. You do a great service to us GA pilots especially. I am 75 years old and am working on my instrument rating. Have passed the written (93 score) and fly regularly with my CFII to learn IFR flying. My wife and I own a Cherokee 140 and enjoy flying here and there. I have watched all 3 of the IFR ACS videos you made. Can' t believe there is so much to know. My airplane has 2 VOR's and a DME.
    Thanks for sharing your knowledge,
    Robert and Linda Spitaleri

      Robert, thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. I'm so glad to hear your still committed to learning and working on your instrument rating at such a young age ;) The instrument rating will help you become a more confident and safe pilot. Enjoy the training and thanks again for the feedback!
      Seth

    Seth, 557WW is the the 557th Weather Wing. The primary weather reporting source for AF pilots outside their local weather forecasters, I suspect it to be only available on military subscriptions

    Great video Seth. By far this is the best weather-ForeFlight video I have come across. Hoping that you might consider a preflight weather briefing followed by the actual flight and be able to compare the results. Thanks

      I'm going to be doing some YT shorts that give quick tips on FireFlight. Let me know what you think. The first one is published already!

    Love this explanation. I’m in IT and enjoy using ForeFlight yet I learned something new thanks to the video. Ie. I had no idea I can see clouds in the profile view (always thought it only depicted airspace and terrain).

    Helpful! Do you have a recommendation for commercial ASEL test prep?

      I don't have a particular commercial ground school I prefer. I've always liked Gleim but have heard really good things about Jeppesens offerings.

    Hi Seth, I’m assuming the cloud and icing are MSL. How does ForeFlight get the data to predict the cloud layers? Do they use the temps and dewpoint data, or is there another data set they use to compile that forecast? Great stuff!

    • @SethLakeDPE
      @SethLakeDPE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All cloud height altitudes are given in AGL, or above ground level. This is true for any cloud height forecast. Some more advanced cloud height information is given in millibars, but any METAR, TAF, or Cloud forecast is always the height above ground level.
      As for the source of this information, it varies. One source is the daily radiosonde data gathered by NOAA. You can find a map and current sounding data at the following website: www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/soundings/
      This would be a great show topic that I will add to the list. Thanks for the feedback!

      @tywheeler7131 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, I knew the other products listed AGL, but I figured ForeFlight would have it in msl for cruising altitude planning. Thank you for the clarification! Also, a weight and balance for a 172 or pa-28 with utility categories would be a good piece as well. Right now I have two separate weight and balances for each category. Thanks again!
