    I LOOOOOOVE YOU, dear Kristen ! You have just solved a problem I've had for a long time ! I work in an activity centre and I have been trying to find a "safe" way to do bead weaving using the usual bead loom, but... I live in Ireland, and the amount of crazy health and safety regulations is so huge that I simply am not allowed to do it because... "the kids might hurt themselves with... the needle !" When I was a kid in France, we used to do it all the time in activity centres and we never pricked our fingers ! Kids are simply not as stupid as eggheads in offices want them to be. So this video is absolutely fantastic. No "dangerous" prop and a great result. THAAAAANNNK YOU, Kristen !

      @@kpolson82 6:20 Neat trick, crossing off row after row! Clever!
      I meant to ask you : I don't know which country you are from but do you have the same issues with health and safety regulations in your line of work that I have here? Ireland is really going overboard with health and safety. I mean, when I was a kid (7 years old) in class we made pretty cool stuff like string art where you have to hit hundreds of nails on a board with a hammer! Ok, maybe 1 or 2 kids hit their finger once but the results were fantastic. I'm just afraid this obsession for safety at all costs might end up with less and less activity and creativity.

    I had a Métis are teacher come into my class to teach me this, and she said calling it a Wompam bracelet or belt is very disrespectful when you aren’t indigenous yourself. She also said that you are never supposed to wear them as jewelry. They use them to teach children history. So yeah, have fun with that knowledge I guess

    Hello, Great video! I want to try this with my girl scout troop. Where can I find the grid example? And how big are the card board cut? Thank you!

    • @kpolson82
      @kpolson82  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Susie R the loom should be about a foot give or take a couple inches. It’s pretty forgiving if it’s too big but you will run out of room if it’s too small. For the grid you can just sketch it out yourself or use graph paper.

    Can I use any kind of thread for this

    • @kpolson82
      @kpolson82  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep! But it should fit tightly in your beads when you have 2 rows of thread. I did yarn and pony beads here. You could do a jewelry thread with seed beads.
