    That v8 growl is so beautiful!!! I wish ford would do that with their expedition, lincoln with their navigator. Of course, a special trim just like this!

    Nice review on the Escalade. In August of 2020, I purchased a brand new leftover 2019 CT6-V at a discount. I should have realized what I was getting myself into when the sales manager started it in the showroom. Same thing-LOUD cold start that you can’t adjust or turn off. It was embarrassing to start in the early AM. I’m sure my neighbors were not pleased with me. But, it WAS quiet on the road except when you put your right foot into it, just like the Escalade. I’ve since sold it but it sure was fun to show off that 4.2TT hand built and signed V-8 engine at the shows.

    I've been restoring my 2002 black escalade 6.0 AWD, i always loved the 2nd gen escalades, its the true SUV that saved Cadillac back then, at current spec its getting the black out treatment, and currently as it sits looks like a under cover CIA or DEA enforcement support rig and its loud the way trucks were meant to be. and yes it rocks the original 12 mpg that Caddy back in 2002 was soo "proud" to stand behind. lol I love trucks and now the older gen escalades are at the precipice of market value albeit its in good running form and no accident history which mine is holding a strong candle to at the moment. I may move up yo the V when its my time to. =)

    One thing Tom didn't mention is, every time the Escalade-V is started the sound system plays the theme song from the movie Team America: World Police.
    Every time. Totally not kidding.

    "It's the Cadillac of mini-vans". Excellent review. Sometimes I wonder if that exhaust note so many folks delight in isn't the poor engine gasping for air. These will be remembered as the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

      True story- When I first started this, the warehouse suggested I call corporate. I explained what I wanted to do to the receptionist and she transferred me to what I thought was the PR department. The guy I ended up talking to thought it was a great idea and said go for it. When I asked if I needed some sort of letter, he just said "tell him Jim said it's OK". Turns out I was talking to Jim Senegal, who started Costco.

    I just love it when people complain about gas mileage in a full-size 7 passenger truck based SUV that can also tow 8000 pounds. What do you people expect, Toyota Prius mileage? Obviously some people don't think, before they start typing.

    What a fun review Tom! Oh my, finally a vehicle other than Audi or BMW with navigation on the MID! Tom, do you know of any other vehicles with a moving map on the MID? Preferably on a mainstream vehicle? I love this feature, but I'm afraid this vehicle is not on my list (I'm replacing an old Suburban so I'm used to the poor mileage, but would like to improve it in whatever I buy next. Thanks again Tom! Oh, and I loved your "it has a drinking problem" remark in the Red Light Green Light section.

    One of the best reviews I've seen on this version. Seems like to me they'd add more anti-squat to the rear suspension to tame that dramatic front end lift on acceleration. As nice as it is, the interior needs more refinement to truly be worthy of the price asked here. How about a bigger wheel option too.

  • @mcertem3714

    Tom, note when you open the top glass in the tailgate there is a metal piece of the latch hanging down. (see 13:36) For those of us who are vertically endowed that is a horrible, horrible thing to bang the top of your head on. I am 6'7" and my Expedition had a similar arrangement. I cursed the Ford designers who could not do a better job on that glass hatch. I bled many times from the top of my head after banging into that. At least it is a bit more rounded on the Escalade, not a sharp protrusion like it was on the Expedition... Best.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a friend your height and do try to keep those things in mind. In this case I didn't see it as much of a threat considering the sharp edge of the glass. If that can be avoided (and you'd want to), the latch shouldn't be an issue since it's recessed. Either way, stay safe!

    The V has a 300 mile driving range in the City and 450 miles on the Highway thanks to a 28.3 gallon fuel tank size. I wouldn't need to stop at the gas station very often.

    • @krane15
      @krane15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Saw a vid Steve Lehto did about the Escalade V. if you buy one of these things you have to sign an agreement not to sell it within like 12 months...if you do GM cancels the warranty. Apparently a guy who bought one refinanced it, took it in for service, and GM considered the refi a "change of ownership" and canceled the warranty. Eventually they corrected the mistake, but still...GM 😉

    The only red light is the fuel consumption, but if you can afford it, that shouldn’t be a problem, IMHO, it’s better than GLS AMG63 and the only really close rival is Alpine X7, though that is smaller, long live American full size SUV on steroids❤

    150k???????? You gotta love this rig to pay that price for it. When I think of all the great cars I could have in my garage for the price of one of these, it just makes no sense to me at all. But then again, I am not the demographic that would buy one of these in the first place. I guess this is just one more dinosaur-unicorn-car ready for extinction and plenty of people will stand in line to buy anything with a growling V-8 (or V-12) while they are still available, cost be damned. As a brand, I think Cadillac never quite got the respect (and sales) it deserved (especially the sedans), but perhaps that will all change as the EVs hit the road. The new one is stunning.

    These reviews are always engaging and well-produced. However this vehicle in particular is absolutely wretched, 11/mpg is abysmal. I don't understand how anyone could drive around in this thing in this day and age when we see graphic evidence of the damage from climate change day in and day out. If you really need acceleration go find an electric alternative. Dinosaurs like this that damage the planet should be regulated out of existence!
