- The new 2023 Cadillac Escalade V ($178,898 in Canada, $149,990 in the US) is the biggest, baddest and loudest SUV from GM, and it’s the first to wear a V-Series badge. An already beefy 6.2 L V8 has been made even beefier for the V, thanks to a supercharger that’s bigger than the one in the mighty CT5-V Blackwing. To handle the 682 horsepower through its full-time AWD system, the Escalade V has seen numerous improvements, such as: a forged steel crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, and an adaptive air ride suspension system that has been designed and tuned for the V model.

That Escalade makes the G wagon sound like an electric car that’s insane.
G has tiny 4 liter engine with two fans stuck in it's exhaust. Escalade has a decent sized 6.2 liter engine with free exhaust.
And the Escalade exhaust is stock, not bad at all.

I think the ten speed in the Escalade V really helps it move all that weight. im a big believer in the modern ten speeds. they are excellent.

@@JT-gh9hi no doubt it's faster it's just complex and imo durability is still to be proven. Not to say the 6l80 is bulletproof. But what do I know... I'm neither engineer or mechanic.
i wanted the 10 speed which is amazing at the 500-800hp range but 1000plus you have to stay around 6-8... at 1400hp you definitely want 8 speed or less.

I'm working in Germany close to the Ramstein Airbase and American Muscle Cars are pretty common here. But when I first saw a Cadillac SUV almost sounding like this, I first thought that its either tuned or driving without any exhaust. But after watching this video, I understand why this beast was in my review-mirror at almost 230 Kilometers per hour.

Of the Escalade line I've always felt it's too glitzy, this V version in this exact trim is the first I could go for ever, it's large but very beautiful. The performance is the cream on top. Thanks guys for another fun intro and excellent review.

@@mattbrew11 true that, I see cab on those big semi-trucks do the same thing on the road when they get those 80,000 lbs loads moving. The cab rises a few inches when that massive torque is applied.
It reminds me back in the 70's when I was a kid; I had to warm the family Buick up in the morning during the New York Winter season.
That V8 had so much torque that while in park, I would give it gas and I would move vertically.
The engine torque would actually be twisting the frame and make the seat move upward.

That Escalade V is like a 7-seater Camaro or Corvette, and I think that's what they were going for. It's very very expensive, but it does all these tasks you could ask of it, and with seating for 7.
It's videos like this, that make me wish your channel existed when Ford was still building the Flex, because I think you guys would actually like it quite a bit, especially an AWD EcoBoost one (which my family has owned 2 of). I think exposure from media platforms like this would have helped sell more of them.

And the Escalade V ESV has even MORE cargo room. I think the ideal scenario for the ESV, honestly, is with the third row removed completely. You can haul four VERY large adults and enough gear for a month-long road trip in this car and probably do a Cannonball Run across the US while you're at it.
The Range Rover is actually real quick for what it is. The G63 is insane.

I would venture to say that the acceleration squat on the Escalade was intentional based upon how composed you seem to say it is in the every other direction. It also looks pretty impressive looking from the side view and down right intimidating from the front view.
Intentional squat at linear acceleration I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!! I mean that was very pronounced given that the magnaride suspension does control pitches like that, magnaride makes big cars feel small, as I have driven a few of them, defy physics
Although I still like the previous older version of the Escalade better. The Escalade still remains the undisputed "King of SUV Bling" since its induction. And is still the status symbol of Luxury SUV's.
Everybody....I mean everbody knows what an Escalade is. Some people may know what a GLS, G wagon or X7, etc,is.
Piggy-backing off what the host stated, if you see a few GLs or G wagons in a row going down the street, one would think there is a party at the local night club; But, If you see a few Escalades in a row, one turns to the local news station; because something significant and /or of great importance has happened or is happening.

Totally agree, the last 2 versions are much better looking. To me they ruined the front end. Still King of the Bling as you say. The other rival, the Lincoln Navigator looks too much like an Expedition.

As much as I love massive, oversized, powerful SUV's, and as awesome as that Escalade is, can we talk about that G 63?? That thing is stupid quick.
I would not have been surprised it in a second dig it would keep up with the Escalade. And i would have been interested in a brake test of these 3. (although my guess would be the Range would win that, but the AMG G does some serious braking too)
What's really surprising to me about it is the same.motor in the gle and gls 63 isn't nearly as absurdly fast. I have no explanation.

Would be a good race but the Durango isnt in the same category as these luxury SUVs. Take luxury out of the equation and it would be a really good comparison though. What they need to do is put the hellcat engine in the grand wagoneer. That would make it a good comparison.

The durango hellcat has no 3rd rows space and not body on frame, therefore it’s irreverent
Durango is a good bit faster than the escalade v, but also a good bit smaller. Fairly comparable though for doing stuff, both tow a ton, both have plenty of space for a family, both have virtually no cargo room with the 3rd row up, and both sound mental, in a good way.
Gotta admit, i'm partial to the Durango and.its less opulent take.on it. The headrest speakers and weird pattern on the seats and all the displays... kinda too much for me. The Durango is a bit more reasonable to me as a family vehicle, despite being faster and harder edged. I'd hate to see what happens to a curved OLED display when a kiddo launches a toy at it full speed. I'd hate paying to replace it even more.

The thing I love is how they worked so hard on swift ware and calibration to avoid pitching but the sheer power of that engine just says wheelie time. I would never be able to drive this thing normally ever, it would just be smiles and laughs and horrendous fuel economy all in a beautiful package that if you wanna settle down it will but the moment you plant your foot down you can forget this being your Uber Black and now you’re in a 680+ horsepower body on frame luxury SUV

When the 3 of them were revved up, the Caddy sounded amazing. G Wagon put me to sleep. The drag race was a riot to watch but if presence in the form of sound matters, the Caddy thunders. Great fun review.

Speaking of the G63, they JUST re launched in Australia today, limited to about 50 to 60 units only, with a driveway price tag of over $400k! Which is up from $270k. Ridiculous. Not that anyone could ACTUALLY buy one thanks to system crashes

I didn’t even realise they re-released. I think for its original MSRP it is a bargain and it was such a good car for the price…however a brand new one for $404,000 (which is impossible(I kid you not, not even MB VIP customers can get ahold of them)) it’s starting to raise my eyebrows. For an extra $20,000 you could get a new Bentayga V8 or a new DBX. Only an extra $75,000 can get you into an Urus (if you can get a new G Wagon brand new…). There is currently a G63 with 22,000 km on Carsales for $650,000…one with 22 km is $599,999. For that money, I would save that $100,000 and get an Urus. The G Wagon market is insane and I just don’t see the value….A Lamborghini URUS is cheaper than a Mercedes, and what would you rather say you drive, a Lamborghini or a Mercedes.

@@LucaJC it's ridiculous. I work at Merc, and we tried all day today to try and actually sell the G wagons to our customers who had the money. But we weren't able too. Let's just say, many of our VIP customers were not happy at all

Although the Lincoln Navigator pioneered this segment ( Luxury SUV), after Ford started the SUV trend with the Ford Explorer back in the early 90's. Everyone else is just following the leader, even Porsche, which is almost embarrassing

And the Navigator did not really pioneered the Luxus SUV segment that was more the Range Rover i would say. But yes the Explorer defnitly helped starting the trend for SUV but don't forget cars like the Mercedes-Benz M-Class or the Toyota RAV4. And where did Porsche follow the "leader" only because cars like SUV's are more and more wanted that's called Supply and demand. And btw the company that produces the most SUV's is Toyota not Cadillac nor Ford.
@@qirx5904 Porsche was strictly a "sports car" manufacture, until the SUV trend started in the 90's with the FORD EXPLORER.. since then, almost every automotive manufacturer has jumped on the band wagon, Don't forget, GM has been making SUV for the longest. In fact the Chevy Suburban and the Chevy Corvette ( sports car) are the longest continuously running current models in automotive history.

@@Sadslantyface yes I will. I've already made SC H2 with 650hp and Escalade (900 model) with 550hp. The only thing that stops me from supercharging my 6.2 Tahoe (L86, 8L90) is that compression ratio is already 11.5:1 in stock, so I need new pistons, rods and everything with c/r something like 10.25:1 to be able to use supercharger with good boost. And also get some stuff from LT4 to balance everything

@@B1SQ1T low end power and torque. With a supercharger I get good torque from 1200-2500rpm and instant response simply because I don't have to wait for the system to run some air. Supercharger gets and pushes air instantly

With the escalade’s aerodynamic design and the most powerful engine of the 3, it should have left the G63 a lot but it didn’t. It seems the G63’s engine is something else.

Love this thing. I'm holding my breath for a Tahoe SS version. The Escalade V is nice, but a little too many screens and fancy for me. A Tahoe SS without 800" of screens and some more basic leather and alcantara seats would be perfect for me.
As I get older, this kind of vehicle makes more and more sense. Haul the boat or camper behind it, take this kids to school, blow away the bmw at the redlight... all in a comfortable daily driver.

That thing would probably at best smoke a Base model 330i, not touching a 340i.
@@aimxdy8680 numbers don't lie, 4.4 to 60 for this is faster than a 540i, and tied with the little 340i. The m550i is faster at sub 4 seconds, but this smokes the x5 and x7 m50i. The m suvs would beat this, but the x3m can't hardly tow, and the x5m is honestly a nice alternative if you don't need the extra space. They're also just horribly.unreliable, but you can't have it all. Well, unless you spend 150k on one of these. Or 90k on a durango hellcat.

@@mjflit the M340i does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds on caranddriver, which is not tied. Even the 4 cyl Golf R is faster, the golf R does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, also the X7 has no space in the third row therefore it’s irrelevant, modern crossovers like the X7 are just compromised and shorter minivans meant for the Soccer moms and karen’s who think they are cool in their Highlander. X7 and Durango only has third row legroom of 33 inches, which will not fit anyone above 5’4.

@@jbnavynuke1 it makes me a bit sad there isn't a solid rear axle on the Tahoe or Suburban at the very least. Oh well. At least they ride nice. I think the rear suspension looks a bit silly from the back though.
It’s one of the most useful and useless cars at the same time. It’s a beautiful contradiction. I want one so badly, but I live in Italy so the expenses to run it would probably be more than double the normal amount which is a lot to start with. Small roads and high taxes be damned, give I need this embodiment of ignorance on wheels.
