@@vroooom I can see cues from of other vehicles in the Lincoln styling. The Navigator blends in with the competition, but Caddy's design language is on another level.
@@vroooom Only in your mind, Lincoln tries hard to look like a Range Rover, compare the Caddy to the Highlaner, Caddys Art and Science design language goes way back in the early 90s, while Lincoln was struggling to find it's design language. There nothing on the road look like a Caddy particularly from the front.

I really enjoy the autonomous driving features in my Mercedes, although it does ping pong a bit more than I would like. I do agree it makes long distance driving, and even stop and go traffic much less stressful. I can't wait for this technology to get to the next level!

Thank you! Cadillac builds some great performing, great looking vehicles nowadays...but the interiors are always lacking. Even Lincoln builds exclusive, beautiful interiors now. GM needs to let Cadillac be Cadillac. No cutting corners. No compromises.
Many complain about the use of cheaper materials in the interior of Cadillacs and the lower level of standard equipment and features. Which I believe is unfair since Cadillac sells far less units than MB and BMW. Thus in order for Cadillac to be truly comparable to its German rivals it needs to be able to sell more - including in Europe. At this time both Cadillac and Lincoln do not sell well there - where-as the Germans sell well in both Europe and the US.
Great review of the Super Cruise. My wife recently acquired an E450 Wagon with Merc's autonomous driving features. I was skeptical at first, you know being a "driver" and all, but the system has won me over on long highway drives. We pulled off a 350 mile interstate drive one day, and while the system on the Merc requires a hand on the wheel, it did all of the driving. I found it to be more relaxing than most highway trips.
Thanks for the great video Tom. Would I buy this car? Yes if I were looking for a nice sedan. I'm sick of all the trucks and SUVs on the road. I think the only way to rid our roads of them is to quadruple the fuel prices. If I were running the country all drivers of trucks would pay an annual tax unless they used them for work. Keep up the great work Tom.
9:28 Exactly, Tom. Unfortunately, the places where GM accountants stepped in to demand another $0.65 cost savings are all too evident. Same old GM. I believe they CAN make it world-class. But they choose not to. SMDH.
I will elaborate. Most of the materials in the car are quite good. But the stuff down low, below the center console and in the foot wells look straight out of a Chevy. And the seams there are wider than they should be at this price point. I know it can do better because my ELR has a terrific interior, perhaps the best the brand has ever done.
Driven Car Reviews Yes, the ELR and CTS interiors are world class. Very distinct and executed greatly. The CT4 and CT5 are the closest the brand has gotten to that level of attention to detail and fit and finish.
Driven Car Reviews Though I will say the common misconception that interior material comprises and build quality not being areas that the Germans don’t slack on is a bunch of bull-crap and just that...a misconception. The Audi A8L is the company’s flagship sedan and it’s exterior has fake plastic exhaust tips. The interior is also full of black shiny plastic which is ALL OVER the interior. BMW even on their top of the line performance trims like X3 M with the upgraded interior leather packages (if I’m not mistaken) still has hard touch plastics inside the interiors. Mercedes-Benz on their brand new flagship SUV the 2020 GLS has hard touch plastics throughout the interior including the doors as well. It’s top of the line GLS 580 boasted hard touch plastic on the front doors. So I hold reviewers to blame for these misconceptions within the auto industry. You guys have got to start telling the whole truth that not just the Americans slack on materials from time to time. Every single German brand you named cuts the same corners just like the Americans.
A great review of a great looking and fascinating Cadillac CT6, Tom. Since I'm relatively new to your vlog, I'm rather certain you've probably covered this in detail long before now, but for the life of me, I do NOT understand why GM is eliminating most, if not all, of their sedans. Many of us older, retired adults do NOT wish to be limited to SUV's or pickup trucks.
GM is eliminating a bunch but not all. Ford is axing all cars but the Mustang and Chrysler (FCA) isn't far behind. It's stupid in my opinion but I'm not running the operations.

Just where are the Super Chargers instead of this. I am one year away from purchase and will keep an eye on this. I subscribed for more info.
The Super Cruise update bringing the mapped miles to 200k is available now. I haven't had a chance to try any of the newly added roads yet. I agree completely about the XT4 and XT6 being released without optional Super Cruise is a mistake. As for the interior surfaces? Nothing I interact with is bothersome, I enjoy it enormously. And I keep reading CT6 manufacturing is moving in 2020, not ending.
That would be a waste of people's time. FWIW, my personal cars are a 1990 Miata (bought new) and a 2014 Cadillac ELR. My wife has a 2019 Chevy Volt. Love running the trail in Bothell!
$88,450. It's the 2nd reason why this car doesn't sell. The 1st reason is that to most people, the only real Cadillac is the Escalade. That SUV, much like the Corvette, is a brand in and of itself. GM's marketing team couldn't sell heaters in Anchorage, so it's not a surprise that this car languishes.
bassandtrebleclef this car has outsold the BMW 7-Series twice in a row since 2018. The Cadillac Escalade isn’t even Cadillac’s best selling vehicle. You people just run your mouths before doing any type of research. Lol. You don’t even know what you’re talking about.

Thanks so much for doing a deep dive on the semi-autonomous features! It's really important to understand the pros/cons of the various systems-and it's hard to get a good sense of the limitations during a quick test drive (our local Toyota dealership let me go all of one exit on the freeway). It's especially useful to get the insider info that Cadillac will offer OTA updates. Other companies don't offer this, and it's good to know which vehicles will get better over time (and which will be stuck in the past). Thank you!
The Lane Keep Assist will keep the Toyota and the Cadillac (plus many others) centered during on and off ramps, but it's different than the car being aware enough to merge and exit.
@@DrivenCarReviews The Toyota lane keep assist (on the new RAV4 Hybrid) was actually surprisingly limited IMO. It ping-ponged a little in the lane, and in my brief experience it was worse in this regard than the Honda system (in the 2019 CRV). But the real safety problem was that you can't use Toyota's LKA it in the right lane because it gets confused by exits and "keeps you centered" between the line on the left side of your lane and the exit line on the right side of your lane-which ends up driving you halfway between the lane and the exit! The salesman said not to use it in the right lane because there's so much entering/exiting traffic, but clearly the real problem is that the system cannot handle exit striping, even if no one else is around. Hopefully they can fix this with OTA updates or something, which look further down the road and focus on where the right-side line picks up again after the exit.
Hope you get to 100K subscribers fast. Great video. I'm looking at sedans and it seems like Cadillac is just a notch below the German brands in terms of luxury and attention to detail -- yet they charge an awfully pretty penny. $88K for that CT6 seems too high, at least to me.
Every gone into a GM dealership to price a car? My wife bought a Chevy Volt with a $36.500 MSRP for $27,000. It very typical of the company. Don't let the MSRP fool you.
@@DrivenCarReviews Tom, thanks for the info, I'll take a look. Was wondering if you would consider reviewing the 2019 Audi A6? Would appreciate your perspective.
@@keanuneo-k2w I'll put it on the list but I try to get to the newest of the new first (plus I can only test what's in the press fleet). And a reminder about price- my ELR stickered for 83K and I bought it new for 42 (then there were tax credits). My friend bought an ATS-V for FAR less than sticker (and an M3) and there are no sacrifices there. That's GMs strategy. Plus used luxury cars of any make are particularly good deals off lease.
I've had a car with adaptive cruise control since late 2014 (Subaru EyeSight), and although I'd never buy another car without ACC, I'm also completely satisfied with just that. I'd rather keep steering. And besides, three pedals makes me feel alive. Yes, I got rid of the Subaru and bought a Honda with manual transmission (and of course Honda Sensing).
I'd love to know how you wound up with a Cadillac ELR. The reviews were lackluster even at launch and it seemed wildly overpriced. I would never have guessed you owned one. Did you win it?
Generally the reviews went like this- really nice car that's WAY over priced. I wanted an electrified vehicle. GM was moving them out, I effectively got a new one for 35K after the tax credit. Other than a defective touchscreen it's been perfect.
@@jody024 nah, you're wrong. They go after common cars. They'd probably never touch this thing. Cuz they couldn't chop it up for parts nor can they resell it.
Too bad they killed our ELR Tom. Hopefully Cadillac will come up with a pure EV with Super Cruise. You must have at least a couple hundred miles on your ELR by now, right? Thanks for the great review as always.

Nice car. Good video. Interesting that having the car doing the driving makes for more awareness and not less. Likely a good thing only I wonder if it will stay like that once the novelty wears off. Maybe a CT6 owner can comment should one come along.
Tom does have one of the best TH-cam channels - period. I have been a loyal viewer since Tom's now adult children were actually kids and before his wife had her Kia Soul. What is unclear is the elixir Tom and his evil twin are drinking to appear ageless. At recent graduation events he attended, everyone in his family looked different but Tom looks as he did back in the days when the Ford Explorer was on a truck (RWD) architecture, moved to a car (FWD) architecture, and is now back to a RWD architecture. Proof: YT Video: '2011 Ford Explorer Limited HD Video Review'. @6:15 'If you want these videos on your IPod'. Tom: Where has all the time went? The saying truly applies to you: Like a fine wine you are a mellow and incredibly valuable talent. All the best.
Great I found your TH-cam Channel. I just subscribed. I am a Cadillac fan, and love my CTS. But I still prefer Tesla Autopilot, and I certainly will need EV or Extended Range EV technology ( with RWD and 350 hp ) in my next car. :) The future looks great.
But autopilot requires you to keep your hands on the wheel. That's the primary difference between autopilot and super cruise. And it's a big one, enforced by federal laws. Supercrujise is the only fully hands off, fully legal cruise system in the US in production today.
Have you tested another driver assist systems besides Nissan's (Pro Pilot Assist) & Tesla’s? One that I think is quite good belongs to Mercedes-Benz. (Drive Pilot).
I have a piece coming out in the NYT in the next few days that is a round up of all the current tech. PPA is one of my favs in affordable cars. Autopilot has some great features and the ability to get better in the future but I find Super Cruise to have the most stable confident dynamic about it. And it's hands free where the others are not.
I'm on my 2nd CT6 Platinum . 2017 CT6 Platinum and now 2019 CT6 Platinum supercruise. I use supercruise alot in L.A.county traffic and its safe. Fort Lewis, WA 2003-2006, great memories but only there 8 months due to back 2 back Iraq and Afghanistan deployments🎯💯🫡
Now just the other night with nothin' to do We broke a case of proof 102 And started itchin' for that wonderful feel Of rollin' in an automobile You could say we was out of our mind And let me tell you we were flyin' while blind
It did come up. It will not brake or steer for smaller debris in the roadway. It will pace traffic down to a full stop and will brake pretty hard to avoid large things like other cars. This is consistent with all other tech.

You can get a low mileage used one 1-2 years old, for about half that price already.
Coming from High Tech Corvette, GOOD JOB!!!
Another good one! Hey where do I buy a Driven T-shirt? :)
I made a vow never to waste my money on a Cadillac ever again and intend to keep it that way.
So live with it and dont bother us with that.
Why, because you had a bad experience in the 1980s or something? Cadillacs are really good now. All you're doing is hurting yourself.
Make a Long wheel base Ct6 Cadillac please. At least 1 foot longer
Tom>Doug
I've had a car with adaptive cruise control since late 2014 (Subaru EyeSight), and although I'd never buy another car without ACC, I'm also completely satisfied with just that. I'd rather keep steering. And besides, three pedals makes me feel alive. Yes, I got rid of the Subaru and bought a Honda with manual transmission (and of course Honda Sensing).
CT6 is not getting discontinued in 2020, it's still going to be around.
I will never subscribe but always watch.
Excellent sir!!!

Good deal! Love your channel. Keep up the great work.
Great review and Great Car👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
excellent review, thanks
I want to import this car to Jamaica. Love the design
If you want your car stolen, go ahead.
@@jody024 nah, you're wrong. They go after common cars. They'd probably never touch this thing. Cuz they couldn't chop it up for parts nor can they resell it.
@@JamaicanMeCrazy good point
Too bad they killed our ELR Tom. Hopefully Cadillac will come up with a pure EV with Super Cruise. You must have at least a couple hundred miles on your ELR by now, right? Thanks for the great review as always.
I don't get to drive it as much as I like, especially since it's summer and I have the Miata. Enjoy!
What a good looking car.
That front left tyre looks almost empty 1:48.
97000 subscribers... everyone tell a friend about this channel!!! We should easily be able to get Tom over the 100,000 mark! ⚠⚠⚠ As for Super Cruise, it's super-cool!! Love to have that on my long boring Phoenix to LA drives across the desert. 🌵🌵
Nice channel. Wasn’t it debunked that the CT6 production is going to be stopped completely but rather just moved to another facility?
Nice car.
Great video!
If you installed the autopilot from Airplane!, will Supercruise still work?
Nope. And stay away from the manual inflation nozzle.
I subscribed Tom
how well does it work at night?
Just subscribed, God Bless!
There's a mechanical "clunk" when you let off the throttle @ 2:41 That doesn't seem right.
Thats the turbo pressure being released. Normal. Look up blow off valves for cool sounds people do.
Completely normal
Now just the other night with nothin' to do
We broke a case of proof 102
And started itchin' for that wonderful feel
Of rollin' in an automobile
You could say we was out of our mind
And let me tell you we were flyin' while blind
Magnuson Park in the opening scene?
Yeah, over by Arena Sports
Fantastic Sir👍🏻
I got the impression in your drive the situation did not come up, but how does super cruise react in emergency situations?
It did come up. It will not brake or steer for smaller debris in the roadway. It will pace traffic down to a full stop and will brake pretty hard to avoid large things like other cars. This is consistent with all other tech.
Is the V8 CT6 happening or not? It’s been a year since the announcement.
I believe so. It was on the press site when I was researching this car. It's part of the reason why they're extending production of the CT6.
