What’s up with the portion of the exhaust manifold sticking out to the driver side? Looks like the rest of the exhaust system connects near the firewall

So that part directs warm air from around the exhaust manifold to the air box (it’s just a flexible tube connected to a shroud). I’m guessing to warm the engine faster for emissions concerns?
