Trinity is a copyright library for both Ireland and the UK (because it was a copyright library before Irish independence, and that's been kept). It receives a free copy of anything published in Ireland or the UK. Some libraries in the UK are also still Irish copyright libraries, and receive a free copy of anything published here, but that's organized through Trinity, so Trinity receive several copies of anything published here, keep one, and ship the rest off to various libraries in the UK.

@@100subscribersandnovideos7 The Old Library is still a working part of the college, and actually hosts some classes, especially in early manuscripts. If you're studying mediaeval Europe, or the history of literature, you'll likely spend some time in there.

One minor correction. Library has 2 "R"s is pronounced līˌbrerē; Li-BRE-ri. Not Li-berry. There are strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and huckleberries but NO liberries...

The scholars who used trinity library were either very tall or very stupid. Using a 20 foot ladder to fetch books is extremely dangerous.
