I own the MS 162 as well, it's a decent little saw, I wouldn't take it out on felling jobs to cut massive trees. I fell a 8 feet, 20 inch wide tree trunk. It did just fine, I had to make two cuts on each side. If you're going to be using this saw on a daily or even weekly. I would consider changing the bar, the tip doesn't have a link wheel. So it's metal on metal, which is very concerning to me. It will eat your chain's drive links up, plus it will cause wear and tear on your bar faster. The bar is my real issue, we as a customer shouldn't have to spend extra money on a bar with a link wheel. I would rate this saw at 7.5/10 it's a budget saw, gets the job done. Not a whole lot of power, but will save you in a pinch. If you need a truck saw to carry around, I would suggest it. And from watching another video, the MS 170 Bar will work on this saw, just be careful and weary if you're going to try it.
$199 is a decent price. I'm the same as you, I needed one for around the house and I have a 10" Electric one as it does what I need around the property. I will need a petrol one soon. Thanks for the review brother
@@Blue-moon12 I agree it's not bad for the price a electric one isn't bad for some jobs but it is nice to have a gas one on hand for when something large falls down.
When starting you missed the first pop which I heard I think on the 4th pull/5th pull, this caused the saw to flood, when not moved to half choke immediately.I own Stihl chainsaws and please enjoy yours 🙋♂️

I got a cord of wood that was cut too big for my stove. I bought the stihl MS 162 to cut all those logs in half. It's doing a great job for me so far.
This was honestly painful to watch

Your stihl dealer can supply a steel dog for the saw, comes with screws and cost around 6 dollars.
I think I'm going to get one they help a lot

It starts the best when you set it to half choke after the first little pop. All my Sthil saw start perfekt if don right
Do you have issues with Maple beetles? The red and black bugs.
@@Blue-moon12 I have seen a few before but have never had a big issue with them
@PastPreserver interesting as you have a Maple tree. We were plagued by them early last week!
@@Blue-moon12 oh wow I think I saw 1 or 2 when I was cutting this up but I don't see them very often. I'm surrounded by maples mostly lol
My short stihl light bar has a wheel...
Nice I wish mine did. Did you get yours from a dealership maybe they upgraded the bar it seems they make light bars both with and without the roller
@@PastPreserverindeed I did. Also to note its a light bar 4,
