I really hate what they did to penguin because in season 1 he was the smartest most cunning person and he literally devised the whole events of s1 but then in later seasons he just becomes a stupid goofy character, talk about weak writing smh

In fairness, he was dealing with the death of his mother, his torture at the hands of Hugo Strange, and the reunion with his father and his subsequent death in Season 2, all of which can have an effect on one’s psyche. Plus, you can make the same argument that people have made for Walter White in _Breaking Bad,_ where he was always a deranged goofball, it took his acquisition of notoriety and power to bring his more repressed elements to the surface.
Honestly this is probably the most comic accurate Penguin since Burgess Meredith, he's cunning and intelligent as Batman has claimed in Penguin Triumphant and he is also incredibly insecure and wears weird clothes. I loved Gotham for the Joker but never really cared for this Penguin until now. It took all these years. I always thought his arc was brilliant and stuff but never TRULY understood and appreciated how much better he was in season 1 than after. As in I never watched one oft these videos. Maybe part of it has to do with the fact he's no longer popular and the new Penguin is out. He feels like he's from a mob show. Season 1 was great. But the way he backstabs everyone and has no integrity is a little annoying. Idk If it's comic accurate or not (pain and prejudice may disagree it's accurate but other stories may contradict that) He's so ruthless it's hard to like him.

Oswald went from Ella the servant boy to Cinderella the king of 👑 Gotham and he finally got to live happily ever after with Ed and the rest is history the end
Penguin was playing 4D chess in season 1. I wish he kept that level of wit throughout the series.
