So often I stop watching after 4-5 episodes of most dramas nowadays. I don’t care about lighting or pretty actors. Just need BETTER stories!
And very good acting skills
try to watch the rise of Ning..its good drama and good acting skills
This 😅
Not just c-drama. I stop watching K-drama when story just started to collapse, or not interesting anymore. And they have better actor and production budget. C-drama more hit or Miss about that.
Same… it’s gotten super predictable - same tropes over and over
I literally had to check my list to count how much revenge dramas I've watched. Why is it always the same?
No problem being a revenge drama, but the plot is always same and you can guess what will happen next.
I think the lead actor is beautiful in a manly rugged way, I often get saddened at the amount of very young pretty boys playing roles that were obviously, intended for an older more experienced man. I will watch this series just for him 🥰
@@susanross1651 Wow, I am glad others see this, too.
They use very young males and females like kpop or younger, slap wigs and makeup, dub in a more mature voice and VOILA, male or female lead can be had for cheap pay.
Agree! The lead actor is mature and manly. I do not like the baby pretty face man that look like a teenager.
@@sallyd1275 I do like the young pretty boys, but not if the charcter is obviously calling for a mature man with worldly experience x
I can't help but think dramas are having a "content slop" problem. they just churn them out and most of it is garbage.
All are having the same ingredients in different proportions but non of the compositions work
I’ve had to go back and watch dramas in my “To Watch List” of previous years because it’s a desert in drama land. 😭🐫🏜️
Its always the same copy paste homework with a little change
They won't stop because some ppl are still watching those 😅
A small part of it, is due to censorship. It would be so much better if more things were allowed. We would get more interesting stories.
i understand your points about the casting of the female characters but i think it makes sense because one is literally a princess and the other is orphan from a random city that becomes an assassin so I don't think the main lead should objectively look better than the princess or even the general
LXY and WJ are in their prime. Liu Xue Yi is far from being old and he steals the scene in any kind of drama. And Wu Jinyan is far better than those boring and childish 20 yo actresses.
I can't stand Ester Yu )):
Omg I thought that I’d listen to some good criticism, and you’re rambling about the actor’s looks? Their ages? Wtf dude. The actor is past his prime because he’s in his 30s? That man is gorgeous.
also the scene with the emperor and the princess is absolutely ridiculous. and i found people on twitter saying, "omg hes such good emperor. he treats her like his daughter" I CRINGED SO HARD
Ewww
Why your rant more interesting than the drama itself 😂😂😂
Kill Me Love Me has been picked up by Netflix. As far as I know Australia, the UK & America will start streaming the series from this Saturday onwards. Well done to Liu Xueyi & Wu Jinyan!
And Netflix continues its streak of picking garbage C-dramas 😂 Not that there are many decent ones to choose from anyway 😂
Netflix ne l'a pas au catalogue. C'est viki
My biggest problem with this drama is how they reveal so much in the first couple of episodes. You have a maniacally deranged prince that pretends to be a cripple -he stands on his 2 legs right at episode 1 and also the FL finds out that he's a nice guy who's just misunderstood immediately. Also, we know from ep. 1 who the villain is. What's there to see in the upcoming episodes then?
I disagree about Wu Jinyan though. I think she's much better than in The Double and she's doing pretty adequately in the fight scenes. Also she's more prettily styled than in The Double. And I don't know why the comparison to Huang Rinying who is a pretty girl but by no means the classical beauty you make her to be. In my eyes, she looks like your average idol drama ingenue, not bad but nothing special either.
I think AveX is on to something with Huang Rinying having classic beauty. To me, she look similar to Carmen Lee but just more baby faced.
Rinying is beautiful but I also didn't think Jinyan was overshadowed by her.
The difference is in the villain! The Double had such a compelling villain duo. This one... not so much.
I agree with you....that drama did justice to the female lead too... and honestly all this suffering only to see such a depressing end for what??
No thanks...real world is sad enough...i dont want my fantasies to be sad as well
Honestly, I expected Liu Xue Yi's psychopathic side to last a little longer. I was happy to have an actor with a suitable age for the role he plays, you can't put someone with a pretty baby face and perfect skin and expect us to believe that he has a dark and traumatic past...
I liked the dark atmosphere of the first episode with the crows and all that stuff...but suddenly, our tormented prince became...a normal person. And the plot has fallen (in my opinion) a bit flat. I'll still watch it...but only for LXY 😅
He is really suitable for dark characters. His eyes have something special that says he is "evil" (not the actor)
Me too..he is like a candy now..cotton candy 😂
@@keyzest8823 he's such a good actor! He deserves complex roles in good dramas 😩
@@Girlyvibe-l2o cotton candy with puppy eyes...seriously 🙃
Same!! I really really really want to drop the drama, but I didn't because of Liu Xue Yi. He's the only part of this series that keep me hold on.. and I want his dangerous charming sexy voice back!!
Lmao, okay but I have to ask, what does "not in his prime, not that young anymore" even mean?!?! I know nothing about this man, I just only checked his age now, he's 34!! BARELY 34 years old! How is that OLD?! OMG! What even are the standards here?!?!?!?!?
i think she means for idol drama wheere the actors are usually in their 20s
I think top actor from his age range will play serious drama if he want to have success career in his 40. Because he can't play idol drama in his 40s.
she was talking about idol dramas
@@AshuSingh-mw2wt some actor looks tired in 30s like Yang Mi in her latest drama Fox Spirit Matchmaker.
@@qiaojingjing170 that drama was shit
The harping on about these actors/actresses age, height, weight or appearance in these reviews has gotten old a while ago. 90% of the time these things have nothing to do with the drama itself, so I don't understand why this is always a major point in your drama reviews
I only agree with you about some parts. I personally don't find it boring at all, but at the end of the day everyone has different opinions and that's okay.
Feel the same and liking the drama.
Same, I like the drama and both leads.
Same and I like the drama! I wonder if the critics can create something better than what's out there.
@@nicoleraheem1195 I seriously doubt it!

We NEED to hear your take on that drama! 😂
Yes please 😂
Yes!! Can we get more likes on this comment?😂
Love in the Desert was such trashy fun.
@@lauraberkholtz7959haven’t watched it but it looked like it! 😂
I just started it 😂😂
I love this show I can’t stop watching it
I think Wu Jinyan played her role well. Empty eyes? Isn’t that the best thing for a trained assassin? Who would take an assassin with expressive eyes? But I’m sure if she does that, AvX will rant abt her being too expressive and not playing her role well. 🤷♀️
If you ever been watched korean The Black Sun with Namkoong Min you would known that trained assasin can have eyes where you manage read his soul and all his feelings without being articulated.
@@Dolen75 She's not a man, she's not Namkoong Min (one of my favourites by the way) and I think she is doing a great job as a female assassin lead in this story.
Honestly I had to stop watching this critique because it's so skewed in favour of the actress in the minor role and I am just not seeing what the critic is seeing. Wu Jinyan is beautiful, athletic and competent. Some of those scenes where she's with other women required her to be wooden in that she didn't need to be expressive. It had been beaten out of her. Did the critic see the training that was involved? She even briefly touched upon how the original was censored. But now she wants emotions everywhere? Even when they first arrived as the "Beauties" she was being directed by one of the other beauties on proper etiquette. She's absolutely not supposed to know what that environment looks or feels like. This is Wu Jinyan's year and I am here for it!
@@lusomnthali7534correct. Like when actors are acting based from a role, and she's doing great, a trained assassin, will look like an empty soul, that YOU can't read anything from her eyes. And this drama is like 90 percent different from the novel. the only thing that never changes is that he is a prince and she's an assassin. I was so disappointed since they changed almost everything, to the point, i am watching a completely different story. But actors are on point.
@@lusomnthali7534I'm totally agree with you. WJ proved her acting skills in The Double. And she portrayed this character so well as assassin. I have no interest in overly biased, or how do I say, opinions based on favoritism....
The looks of the actress does not matter at all to me. The plot and the acting is the most important. Not only that, I find the female lead more pretty than the second lead (princess).
Dissing Wu Jinyan's looks is crazy
Is so sad when a blogger is more interested ridiculing the personal looks of the actress than the drama itself and pitting women against each other is very unprofessional this kind of blogger should be reported at TH-cam or any social media platforms.
@@pamcruz6766 Are you crazy? AveuneX said "facial expression". Not look! No facial expression was what she meant, a black hole. She's entitled to her opinion and just as you're. If you don't like her opinion, get off from her channel and make your own channel.
I totally agree with you !!! Thank u for saying it . This is not a beauty pageant, but a drama(series) we are talking about here ... I find it also very disrespectful toward the actress, Wu Jin Yan might not be the most beautiful woman of this world, but she is not ugly either, in my personal opinion, she is very pretty and charming, she is not only a good actress, but also a beautiful person (human being) and you can see it in lots of her interviews and Videos on TH-cam. Both actresses have beauty and skills of their own, why should we compare them with one another ? There are plenty of actors and actresses in the China intertaiment Industrie which has zero talent and are hire due to their looks and conecctions. Why this Blogger does not make a remarkt about it in her review of the drama? She thinks, believes Wu Jin Yan should be the pinacle of beauty, just because she is the leading actress of a series. This is awful !!! ... We have 8 billions people on this planet, plenty of people out there, will dislike u for who u are and social media has given this judgemental idiots a voice. U are absolutely right !!! This kind of person should be reported at TH-cam or any social media platforms .
she has always been this toxic. Made fun of LYX’s looks and supported rumours trashing him
And she even mention the Ur&ly word like bro, you don’t look better yourself😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
I’m enjoying this drama ❤While I do agree that illogical events take place in this drama, but I don’t think it makes this drama unwatchable. If you just focus on main leads and turn a blind eye to everything else, then it’s a pretty enjoyable drama.
And I don’t have any problems with Wu Jinyan’s acting, she’s far better than majority of actresses in the industry. In dramatic scenes she played very well and fighting scenes were great. In terms of daily interactions with male lead, she might have “dead eyes” as you said in those scenes, but she’s not playing a romantic girly girl, she’s playing a damaged woman who lost a joy of life and just surviving from day to day, powered by the urge to revenge. So I don’t think it’s fair to say she can’t act based only on that.
She had great chemistry with Liu Xueyi.
But I wish Crazy Murong Jinghe was shown longer, it could’ve made the story more interesting.
I agree with your last statement that the ML should have stayed the crazy, slow talking, vicious disabled General a little longer. I like that he showed her he can walk but kept it a secret from everyone else .🌸💃🏽
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I agree with you. I honestly think female lead (Wu Jinyan) is better than others like Zhao Lusi.. she can’t even act, dance or do all any fighting scenes properly. I don’t know what’s the hype with her. Guess you just need to look cute.
@@stjenjen I enjoy Zhao Lusi in a few of her dramas but to each their own. Enjoy the rest of Kill Me Love Me. It’s really entertaining. I can’t wait until they go back to the capital. Take care🌸💃🏽
LXY has a good 3 dimentional face. He should do some modern serious dramas with matured characters
Eh, he did it...

@@qiaowang7147 oh no!! These screen writers don't know about any of the professions to write about them. The will just insult the profession.
More 3 dimentional character with real human qualities and behaviours where he can give life to the character and make it a real person. Doesn't need to have a specially trained profession
Honestly the man is tired and this script is just tiring to follow imagine trying to perform it
i was so disappointed when things just kept being revealed in the first two episodes like they didn't build tension at all istg there are mini dramas with much better plotlines i don't understand why they don't get bigger budgets like
I know this doesn't make any sense but I really want Wu Jinyan to play an outlandishly disturbed kind of role like Glenn Close in Fatal atraction or Seo Ye Ji later works. I feel it in my bones everytime she screams or when she plays a highly emotional scene: she is losing to much energy trying to make people simpatize with her characther and feel sorry for the composed ill fated good female lead. I want her to play a totally derranged woman
I agree I’ve been dreaming to see her play derange or psychotic character like Seo Ye Ji in It’s okay not to be okay and she also looks like Seo Ye Ji both have a unique structure beauty with elegance and sophistication ❤
What you said about Wu Jinyan reminded me of a similar situation in The Double when she was totally out-acted by Li Meng who played the princess in a supporting role
The thing with this actress is that she had the luck to play in Yanxing Palace, where it worked in her favour to have a blank face (I think it fitted her role perfectly so her character seemed more ambiguous, between good and evil). Once she got popular her career was set, but obviously, other roles need more skills and now we're seeing her limits. I still liked The Double (until the last few eps), but yeah, I definitely did not think too much of her acting.
Nah.
Look, Meng Li just absolutely killed that role as the princess. Nobody comes close. She was amazing and that role was part of what made The Double so special. Everybody brought their A game but she even took it up a notch further. But I am still not here for the Wu Jinyan slander.
@@lusomnthali7534 Wu Jinyan didn't bring no A game lol... Unless the blank stare is considered A game
As someone who watched the double my gurl meng Li ate that character she was the best nothing could compare her i liked wu jinyan however her acting wasn't as good as Meng li about this drama not sure tho I think ita quite decent
This drama is good in the beginning but then back to usual tropes...
Actually, I’m enjoying The Rise of Ning more than the other dramas. You can’t even compare them really because they are so different. The Rise of Ning is more of a house fight drama, it’s not complicated, it’s just a simple and entertaining watch. So far, it’s giving what I expected. It’s just for people who want to watch a happy romance drama.
"It’s just for people who want to watch a happy romance drama." And it's perfect for that, it's a cheerful, feel-good, and very entertaining story :)
LOL, I consider myself picky when watching dramas, but my opinion is actually different. I'm enjoying it. Who knows, it might go downhill soon, but after 17 episodes, I'm still waiting. The fight scenes are on point. I assumed the female lead isn’t expressive because she plays an assassin, just as the female general isn’t loud but reserved. The princess’s demeanor is directly proportional to her character. The female lead's fight scenes are the best moments of this drama for me. It's rare to see female fights choreographed so well. That's all. I guess it’s an acquired taste. Like I said before, it might go downhill soon, but for now, it’s still above average for me! 😄.
I stopped by to see what you thought about the drama. I respect your take on it🙏
I love it along with Rise of Ning
Acquired taste 😂 sure.
I can't believe this is wjy's first time doing action scenes! They're also my fav part of the drama and she's ridiculously good at them
I agree with what you said here
@@zzzz-uj1bwright!!! She practiced real hard for the fight scenes. She has been posting practice vlogs on weibo and she is just amazing and so funny.
I will give you an honest opinion about this story, not a rant. The novel is not perfect. There are a lot of plot holes but it is unforgettable because of the honest display of human character, their desires and weaknesses, and what they will sacrifice to survive. The story is short and does not express that depth in detail but it is there. Now, coming to the drama. There were a lot of changes made to this story because some of the details in the novel would not be acceptable to show in a historical drama or for viewing, like Murong Jinghe's character. The screenwriters filled in huge gaps in his past, basically romanticizing him. The plot changed a bit by doing so cause, now whereas Meilin was the narrator of the story, in the drama, Murong Jinghe became the villain and the hero, the main focus. I do not have a problem with what the production team did because in the story Jinghe is redeemed by his love for Meilin and in drama he is redeemed by his love for her.
Xueyi is doing great and Wujinyan is the best person to portray Meilin, it's in the eyes of the character, or is this woman too jaded to recognize this?
To us simple people this is a proper love story. This woman can rant about all of the technicalities of filming and production, I do not know such things but I know a good love story when I see it.
As far as I know, it's a popular series so you aren't alone in your opinion.
Also weather its on purpose or not Meilins eyes are supposed to be like that. She has gone thought so much in her life what does she expect a starry eyed yuoung woman. NO! Meilin is jaded, tyraumatixed and her eyes are perfectly showing that.
Wu Jinyan is playing this vengeful victim role rather too soon after her recent hit drama. This encore is like an "un-ordered meal" right after one has feasted in the banquet of "the double".
she popular for vengeful role.
I am usually very picky but surprisingly i am finding it quite interesting... At ep 18 currently and planning to finish it all.
I loved this drama, especially the fl. She. Bodied that role.
This is the 2nd drama this year of LXY which I may drop. I dropped "In Blossom" because I can't stand Jiu Jing Yi acting, and her character in that respective drama was not serving.
Now I just started "Kill me Love me" for this was a high anticipated drama based on the posters I have seen. It was giving that dark, crazy energy. But the drama has many plot holes indeed, and no one seems to bother explaining what is going on.
I can't believe that I found "Love in the desert" more endearing even if that drama is a low-budget production without an A list cast.
I heard the story of pearl girl with zhao lusi and liu yuning is coming out around the end of October and I am beyond excited, I don't want to be disappointed so I'm trying to keep my expectations low but I adore liu yuning and I really hope this is another hit drama for him 🥹
first week of november
yess im excited about that one as well the trailers looked so good.
I don't know if it's because i like wujinyan so much but am really enjoying this drama
O drama é ótimo. Essa crítica é extremamente parcial e amarga quando não envolve trabalho dos favoritos dela.
@@crackshipornot1668right. She had so much problem with The Double too, how logic is thrown out of the window. The Double novel was literally a transmigration novel, there has never been scientific logic to begin with.
I love this drama, normally agree with AvenueX, and was shocked by this review. I don’t think it’s fair to critique a drama because the source novel is different. And the slam against Wu Jin Wan, in my opinion, is completely off-base. I think she’s wonderful. The second female lead, who according to AvenueX is distractingly beautiful, is delivering a wooden performance, so her looks don’t matter. Yes, a few things that happen are illogical, but this is normal for fantasy. This is not history! Is it so hard to suspend disbelief? I appreciate that the drama is streamlined and fast-moving, not dwelling excessively on secondary plot lines. The only thing I agreed with are AvenueX’s comments on costumes.
You are right. This is the standard for historical dramas, but also because they do have to keep the number of episodes per season shorter resulting in some unexplained plot lines. The drama is fast-paced for a reason. The novel on which it's based is short and there would have been far fewer episodes but they added things like the fire that started everything, the backstory of Jinghe and his brother's past relationship, and a lot of small details about Meilin and the other characters,
which I applaud and appreciate.
I think they've done a decent job with the drama and like I said in previous comments, those who have read the novel have a better understanding of the drama but even without having any knowledge of the story it captivates. I cannot fathom how this woman can say the things that she is saying.
She has some influence over her followers, it is wrong to dismiss a story or an actor based on your palette alone. I do not like or approve of what she deems worthy of praise or worth her time.
I have never agreed with all of this woman's reviews and believe that she has other reasons for giving credit to certain dramas and actors and discrediting the value and success of others. These days everyone is on a payroll.
You're right, the 2nd fl is so flat, her expression and character plot
I don’t find princess prettier than mc. So it’s really subo
I think the costumes are gorgeous. And I'll never listen to this blogger again.
It’s so funny how you can talk about looks Wu Jinyan is a very stunning actress. It’s really low even for you. Don’t worry I wouldn’t be returning to your channel. But before I depart here is a review of your channel. Your negative is something else, if you find reviewing these drama that draining cause that exactly what is given then stop. And I’m beginning to think you’ve got something personal against Wu Jinyan like girl it’s given jealousy at this point. My point is if you can’t review these dramas with true honesty and in a non bias fashion then don’t. Peace ✌🏾
I actually quite enjoy this drama, It's not the best but certainly not the worst in dramaland. Since I don't view it as an idol drama, I never care whether the actors are good looking or not, as long as they have decent acting skills to help move the plot along. The princess maybe pretty to look at but I find her character too naive and boring. I think the female lead did a good job portraying a young woman trained as an assassin void of any emotional attachment. Her eyes do look bland and without sparkles at times but that's the way she naturally look. She is not charismatic but compensates for it with her decent acting skills. The male lead has a juicier role and I enjoy his darker side during the first few episodes. Overall, the drama is quite watchable if you can ignore some of the plot holes and just view it as a light hearted drama.
I am not finding it boring ... so I am not sure you and I will agree ... lol ...
But your rants are always fun to watch ...
Have to disagree with your opinion, Wu Jinyan is a very capable actress and can execute any challenge the script asking her to execute. Every new drama she does she pushes herself to the next level. IMO, Wu Jinyan acting is one of the best in historical CDrama. Wu Jinyan is also a household name globally, she’s also attained 3 best actress awards if she is horrible like you described then she would not reach and achieved the accolades I have mentioned. Her acting in Kill me Love me is brilliant and captivating specially her martial art skills. She is a multitalented actress that can act, can dance and can sing. I also find her attractive and beautiful with good personality.
Avenue X is spot on most of the time BUT her critcism of the logic of the murderer not killing FL in ep 1 totally missed the mark. In ep 4 it was reavealed that the murderer wanted FL to be alive and in possession of the fake token to frame the prince. A little patience is needed to let the story unfold.
Let be honest her acting is not bad compared to all those idol actresses out there.
It actually is as someone who watches a lot of her dramas and other idol dramas she has a very and I mean minute range of facial expression even the crying scenes don't make you feel anything
Liu Xue Yi needs a good compatible Female Lead
I think Liu Xueyi should partner with a traffic c-actress with good acting skills like Bai Lu, etc.
Endearing yet somehow suspiciously terrifying Liu Xueyi? : WATCH BLOOD OF YOUTH. Wu Xin is such a great character and Liu Xueyi played it so well.
I do not find the drama boring at all. I have seen worse
China is churning out a ton of dramas, but you can only watch one or two. The funny thing is that even Chinese people don't watch Chinese dramas. I've seen Chinese people say that the drama situation these days is serious in the records that came out.
Wait, wait, I adore the gold dangling chains on Murong Jinghe! 😂LXY is so handsome, he pulled it off and I love every costume he’s been wearing in this drama. He looks so good! 😍 I’m actually really enjoying the drama and hope it continues to unfold in a fun and satisfying way. Appreciate the honest review, it was fun to hear a different perspective!
Same. I like those hair ornaments. So pretty 😂
This drama plot is so boring & dragging forever. The only good thing about this drama is just the eye candies. At least don’t need to put up w/ bad acting.
Idk personally for me I prefer The Rise of Ning among the 3. It isn't the best but it's at least not boring and fanservice-y lol. What i hate the most in dramas is if scenes are directed purely for fanservice and you can just tell * cough* love in the desert and in some ways this show too *cough*. All visuals, no substance. Just my opinion 🤷♀️
I am really enjoying Rise of Ning
I'm only watching because of Wu Jinyan. I love Wu Jinyan in The Double
I adore The Untamed and Word of Honour and reckon they’re both Classics. One of the series that truly impressed me . This is an opinion from an over 60s lady from Australia 😊
Adaptation? They succeeded to make a decent drama with a subtle ending from the trash that shouldn't even exist. P.S. I thought this videoblog is for the foreign audience. If this is the case, the remark that a 33-year-old actor is no longer young sounds a bit strange outside China, idol drama or not.
yeah i was shocked at the he looks good eventho he is not young anymore comment like what? early 30s is hella young lol
Im nuetral about this drama.
1.I really love the leads. I started watching it for wu jin yan and liu xue yi.
2.Even though i dont wanna admit i do agree that sometimes wu jin yan acting makes me think she gave the wrong expression. But thats not a big problem for me. Liu xue yi does a really good job.
3.I dont agree with visual appeal. I felt wu jjn yan was not the prettiest in yanxi palace eventhough she is the main lead. But it matches the story where the royalties are going to be much prettier than palace maid. The situation is same here. She is an assassin. Ofcourse princess will be prettier.
4.But the supporting role actors cant act. Thats a bigger problem for me. Pricess, her brother, general all feel wooden or make the same expression. Or no expression at all.
5. The major problem for me is the plot. It revealed everything in the first 5 episodes. The villain, mystery, kiss, assassination, him standing... everything.
6. A lot of plot holes and illogicals in the first episode itself. How did the princess got so close to FL?Why is she not acting like a royal? Such trained assassin and her attempt was soooooo sloppy.
But here i am still watching. I liked their time in the village. I dont know whether its going to be boring from now on because i have a feeling the leads are going to make choices that a normal person wouldnt. When there are understanding and good communication and hope i can go on watchjng the seperation and devastating turn on events. But if its just misunderstings.....Man im gonna still watch for the sake of knowing hows it gonna end.
Sigh...indeed. I was conned into watching this for Liu Xue Yi. So far watched 2 eps and there are indeed many situations that don't make sense. Like how did FL even get into the princess' entourage if she was an assassin?? And how is it that Princess & Co actually treat her like a friend?? Bruh didn't y'all just meet yesterday? The scriptwriter obviously can't even be bothered to smooth out the details and make it a coherent story.
I'm not even asking for much. I just want my mans to be eye candy in a watchable period production, I repeat *watchable*. Is it that hard??? He definitely deserves the fame more than a lot of the other popular actors, he's better looking and can act. Like can he just be ML in something that will go off already? Guy's already ageing, let's not waste his looks and talent please.
He's really good looking
This comment made me laugh so hard “Guy is already ageing…” hahahaha…I agree with you. Let’s not waste his talent and looks
@@kellyt8836 Honestly I wasn't thinking it until AvenueX said it, I am sure he will age like fine wine anyhow. But I just want him to make it as a big male lead so I can die happy because he for sure ain't gonna get cast for that anymore down the track.
Like the plot in The Blood of Youth makes sense! In this drama we argue with ourselves, why we don't understand the plot and convince ourselves, just follow along and don't question.
More than his looks and talent, Liu Xue Yi's voice is what makes me fall for him.. in the first episode, damn his voice is dangerously sexy.. he is using that same sexy voice as Wu Xin, too.
I’m loving this drama. I don’t find it boring at all. Totally worth my time. My eyes definitely weren’t following the princess since she can’t act. Just bc one is prettier than the other doesn’t mean they should be casted as main FL. There are enough of bad dramas already out bc of this.

I had avoided watching this drama because of the FL, but I saw these kind of summarised "movie" versions that take the main scenes of the main story of the cdrama, and was curious about it. I like the ML. I do not think he is old for the role he plays. I just had finished the story of Kunning Palace (shortened version too), and, in that one, the ML was too young for being a respected tutor. He played well his role, so I tried to forget about the age mishap...
But coming back to Kill me Love me. As mentioned, I like how the ML played his part, the FL is not fully destroying her role, as usually does in other cdramas, but the rhythm is the real killer. I played it at 1 x1,25 speed and it improved enough to be quite enjoyable. Even the songs improved... Some parts too absurd, bad ending, but somehow watchable
The most watchable drama of recent times is Melody of Golden Age (there are many mistakes, but the magic works because of talent and chemistry)
I dropped Kill Me Love Me because of the impossibility of a love story. There is that cruelty after which love is no longer believable if you do not suffer from Stockholm syndrome.
The Rise of Ning is like watching a Disney cartoon, beautiful people, no facial expressions. I had it for 6 episodes to watch.
I get the feeling that you don't like Wu Jinyan. I have watched your other rants and you can never find a good thing to say about her. Well, it is your opinion and you're entitled to it. But I personally don't see anything wrong with her. Yes, she might not be the most gorgeous person out there, but my eyes nevertheless finds her in every scene. I don't find the other actress beautiful (I don't even know her name nor am I interested in finding out, so that should tell you something), her face looks weird to me, she looks like a doll. I like a more normal looking face like Wu Jinyan's. This shows that what you might find ugly, other find beautiful and vice versa.
As for the drama, I don't find it boring at all. I quite like it, actually. I can hardly wait for the next episode to air. You can hardly expect Wu Jinyan to be skipping in joy all the time in the drama when her character is undergoing intense pain after losing her whole family and portraying an assassin blending in as a foreigner in a foreign land, with plots underhand and constant near death experiences. I think, she is coping pretty well so far, I don't find anything wrong with her acting.
And another thing, I daresay many people watch dramas for the momentary escape from real life. The suspension of disbelief is necessary in most fiction for the enjoyment of it. If you want logic and smarts, maybe you should try scientific documentaries.
I feel you don't like anything
I like the drama
Love ML Liu Xueyi
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Another great review, TV series started strong, I was invested until ep 4 then not much happened. When they went to the hunt we lost all pace, it became so boring even though the actors were amazing. Final episodes and the ending were satisfying. Something which is hard for me to understand, even more after this review is why are Chinese so obsessed with main leads to be beautiful. It is wrong that leading roles have to belong to youngest most beautiful/handsome actors. What should matter is actor skills and if he/she fits the role. Also we have completely different standards in the west, I've read that Liu Yu Ning was not handsome enough for male leads. This is absurd because for me he is one of the few Chinese male actors who look male, out of the Chinese stereotype pretty boy with almost female beautiful features.
Quite frankly I think youv'e got it wrong - Kill Me Love Me is by far more interesting than Rise of Ning where I'm often left with "your blank face" myself! At least KMLM has some decent action for the female lead. Yes, there was a torcherous start but at least the FL was given the tools and has the chops to knock out a stellar acting spot for her character. She keeps on fighting - bloodied, bruised and revenge-motivated undefeated - Go GIrl ! The ML started out as sexy bad-ass and has sady melted into a declining wallflower in comparison to the first several episodes. A least as they both get dirty and dishelved unlike the 2nd FL/ML who are Vogue perfect all the time with as much personality and character developement as a blank book!! I'm holding out for a surge in "power moves" for both ML+FL as we hit episode 15 "the romance".
The only complaint I have Is the lack of expression from the female lead and the forced second love interest. It just seemed unnecessary and useless to make their relationship romantic instead of any other platonic one
Well it is popular and it's getting International recognition. Kill Me Love Me has made to Netflix in my country. It's coming to Australia on Sunday. The only other Chinese drama that made it over here this year was The Double + Princess Royal.
that both drama broke 10000 heat index but this drama still far behind.
@@AshuSingh-mw2wtit’s not. It already broke 9000 heat index and has been at top for 3 more days now
@@caomoli it needs to break 10k heat index to be very popular. TPR and Double broke 10k in first week. So this drama is not at the level of other two.
🎉@@AshuSingh-mw2wt It has already passed The majority of cdrama if it's picked up by Netflix. It is now streaming in Australia, the UK & America. Which means it will reach an audience that has vastly surpassed beyond the average cdrama audience. Who cares about the index at this point.
@@taniar523 index show popularity in China. so it is popular but not that much.
Ah, good, you have substantiated my decision not to watch any of the 3 dramas you mentioned. My drama watching has become a graveyard of abandoned dramas; I get so far into one, then just like that, I stop. My patience wears thin, I am bored or irritated, or the plot has become too silly, so I dump it, sometimes mid episode.
Many dramas I take one look at the promos and I know what it will be and that there is no point in my even starting the first episode.
AV.X, you help get rid of the clutter.
I've tried some of the older dramas and even then, I too often get so far and then it's "Oh, give me a break!" or, 'Sorry, dozed off there" and it gets dropped.
Am I becoming more selective or more cynical as I age or has my sh*t or yawn detector become more refined at identifying the tofu dreg of dramas?
I think Wu Jinyan’s acting range and attractiveness level usually fits the shrewd, cunning character she’s often casted as. She’s not spectacularly beautiful and her guarded expressions always leads one to believe she’s up to something, which fits a crafty character who can’t solely rely on looks to advance in society and who is keeping many secrets. (Note, I haven’t seen this drama yet. I was watching this review to gage my interest before jumping into it and had this thought while listening). That being said, it’s a very limited range that can get old very quickly.
I tried to watch it but just manage to watched only 2 episodes. Just like you said it was ridiculous or didn't make any sense and the plot is predictable as who the "real" antagonist is.
As for The Rise of Ning, i kinda enjoyed the plot so far and the acting of others casts. And i didn't really care about the color gradation or whatever you dislike it.
What??? This drama is so good.. Definetly one of the most interesting and watchable dramas this year..... It's so addictive..
This woman is jaded or unhappy or suffering from menopause. This is a great love story. Ignore her please
Same ... I guess our Ms X has seen many more of these than we have, so .... maybe content overload?
@@liezeloktober-lm8hw Or everyone can just accept that everyone has different taste and likes different things.
@@liezeloktober-lm8hw bruh 💀
This woman's opinion matter to a lot of people and I just think it is wrong of her to trash Wujinyan's acting like this or dismiss the story. I have seen my share of dramas and read hundreds of books but this story captured my attention. To her it might not matter, but to me it's everything.
I know she hasn't read the book, cause if she had, she would recognise Meilin in Wu Jinyans expressions and interpretation of the character. How can she pass judgement so easily if she doesn't know the character. I read that book more than once, and even with the changes that was made, I still recognised Meilin. The book was good but the drama is better because Jinghe is more worthy of Meilin now. I recommend you and everyone listening to this woman, ignore her ranting and watch the drama or read the book, its worth it if you are looking for an old fashioned love story of revenge, love and redemption.
Comment pouvez vous critiquer une serie que vous n'avez pas vue en entier.D'ailleurs vous n'avez rien compris. Et les acteurs sont parfaits. .Vous etes lamentable 🙄
When I watched Ep1 of this drama, I knew Avenuex rant video is on the way, and here it is. I have been waiting for this video as I wanted to see your thoughts, and I totally agree with every point you made. The biggest issue I have with this drama is its storytelling. I mean, they literally revealed the entire plot in the first 2 episodes. No buildup, no suspense, nothing. Also, the relationship development between two leads is a joke. I mean episodes 1, FL is out to kill the ML, and by episode 5, she is already in love with him, and they already had their first misunderstanding as well. The pace doesn't make sense and takes you out of the story. The politics is a backdrop to fill in the plot line when there are no romantic moments to show.
You're correct, the drama Kill Me Love Me even though Wu Jinyan is at the peak of her career however the Story is just boring. I don't like the constant staring that does nothing to the story. I prefer The Double's exciting scenes. This Kill Me Love Me has nothing exciting or interesting scenes to watch.
Did you just call WJY ugly?? 😨 by saying the director should casts uglier girls to play alongside her to make her stand out… That really burns AveX 😰
Ella aveces dice unas tonterías en sus críticas que le restan credibilidad como crítico
I haven't always agreed with Avenue X. But I always appreciate the efforts of a content creator. I'm always interesting in different views about the same story and film. Keep up with your interesting and detailed reviews.
Once again I totally disagree with this take on Kill Me Love Me. I don't find it boring in the least. I find the leads attractive and am drawn to the evolution of their relationship. Some of the female supporting actors might be considered more beautiful and animated, but for me that doesn't take away from the female lead. Their stories are interesting in and of themselves as well. By only trying to catch the available cutlines I don't always follow all the plot lines in all their gory details, but I can live with that and keep going because eventually things get resolved. The only criticism here that I totally agree with is the way the scars on the wrist are obtain. This is truly comic. I really don't care what the book is about as I'm watching the drama and I'm glad the screenwriter(s) left out the misogy and sadism which I guess makes me stupid. The male lead is not a psycho. In order to put his plans into action he plays at being dissolute at the start, he uses the female lead assassin including being in love with her for his own purposes, but it's still unclear at this point (ep. 13) if these feelings are genuine.
I will keep watching this as well as The Rise of Ming and Snowy Night Timeless Love because while some are better than others I am a fan of historical dramas.
I think that what made him choose her to be his weapon of revenge was partly based on finding a kindred spirit and there was underlying attraction behind that. But both would sacrifice each other for justice for the dead.
LMKM pretty good movie imo the main leads are pretty good acting especially ML are handsome and good acting ❤
Wu Jingyin suffered from comparison to her role in The Double. Her stoicism worked well in The Double but not in this one. That is the downfall of too many drama series/year.
I like your rant but I don’t find the drama boring! Is entertaining and fun watching.
I agreed with the costumes thing. But the actors are talented and they stand out.
Exactly...my only problem is that it should have ended at episode 28 when the crown prince died. The last 4 episodes were unnecessary
My problem with this drama is not so much that its boring, but more with that I am so done with this tortured female leads and falling in love with red flag guys. At least in Rise of Ning the male lead is not a psycho 😆
Well, this one isn't either. By episode 15 he's so very puppy, green flag, lol.
@dorisluka2184 my interest didn't survive for so long😅 maybe try later. Who knows
Girl this show was ANYTHING but boring. You can shit on the story if you want but BORING?? Wtf show did you watch coz it wasnt KMLM 😭😭
I watched 17 Episodes and their appearance comparison like princess vs FL doesn't bother me because it's not the appearance that makes the role well played, the less story content for supporting roles doesn't bother because it's a short drama with only 32 episodes and it is okay to have in this way!
Apart from that, I felt it little boring especially from 9 to 14 episodes, story moving slowly with no major developments and humor relaxations.. But starting from 15 it's pretty good. It's engaging and at some points, it's thrilling and unpredictable! So far, I liked it.
LWY asusual gave his stunning best! Simply good, bt still he also does this copy paste.. especially that double time eye blinking (he did the same in Blossom)yet, that's not a biggie!
FL, she did good in some parts, her moves were good so far with assassin aura.. Yet, at some points she could have done better!
I'm looking forward to watch the next episodes also.
And this drama is watchable unlike Avenue X's opinion, in my opinion.
The wrist thing cracks me up 😂😂😂 I was like lemme overlook how all these wrist wounds end up on the same wrist 😂
Omg I thought it was just me I watched three episodes and fell sleep once and decided to drop it
try read the novel first.. The MC is very dark and also Red Flag.. thats why they change the plot so it can pass the censorship..but At the end of the story , you will find the ML love for FL is crazily good ..and you wont be able to get that impression with ML in the drama adaptation ..this cotton candy prince😂
we should just refer him as rapist instead of using red flag.
there are so many question lingers in my head when i watch this series, like the plot is not plottin for me, so i ended up dropped it
I don't agree with the " they should cast 'ugly' supporting actresses to let her standout" Her acting skills should be the criteria to judge her as an actress not her face. Thus, yes I agree she doesn't really know how to act, and personally, till today only legend of Haolan is her only drama I truly like. Even her Yanxi palace didn't convince me that much
U r right. Why can't actors acting speak for them n not their appearance? They are the same people complaining about beautiful lead actress who can't act, lol.
My biggest criticism of KMLM is there are too many times that they stop the action and just stare at each other and play music. There are too many of these sappy interludes that stop the flow of the show. I agree about the wrists injuries; that was a bit dubious. I also think they got rid of Crown Prince Xuanlie too soon; he was a great villain. Also, his love story with General Yin should have been longer and more developed; an accomplished woman like her wouldn’t have fallen in love that quickly. I disagree that the other actresses should have been uglier than Mei Lin; the Princess Zigu who was sent as a peace offering-it was good that she was pretty. She’s supposed to be a prize for the Emperor to stop the bloodshed between the 2 kingdoms. Sending ugly women would’ve been seen as an insult and might have made the Yan rulers more likely to continue the war.
I also would have liked to see more from the crown prince and general yin. I was actually enjoying his character and their little love story.
As far as any of the actors/actresses being ugly I just don’t agree on any of that nonsense. In my opinion no one outshined anyone. The princess was dressed as a princess and maybe that’s why people find her being more attractive. Regarding her actually facial features no I personally did not find her more attractive than FL and I think it just comes down to her being more elaborately decorated like royalty which is the roll she was playing ofc
This show definitely started slow, but it's been getting better and better.
I think you're dead wrong about the FL though. She's been the best part of the show for me.
I agree with you tbh
As she mentioned In Blossom, it had so much potential, because the story was going great and mystery of who killed zhi shangguan had u in suspense for a good few episodes!! Liu was great in the role!! If only he had a shining co star who could have brought life to the role it would have been a masterpiece!!
I think Liu Xueyi should partner with a traffic c-actress with good acting skills like Bai Lu, etc.
I've endured watching boring dramas for my faves. Atleast this drama is beautiful a visual feast
You're not actually talking bad about them but judging them , I know everyone has different opinions but your words can totally make someone look very bad 🥺🥴🥴
I’m enjoying this drama a lot.
I'm glad you made this video because I need someone to convince me that I really don't need to watch this anymore. I was interested to see Wu Jin Yan and Liu Xue Yi's acting in this drama, but I couldn't stand the plot and their acting. I like Wu Jin Yan although I agree with you that she is not the best actress who can show the right feelings and tends to do the same, I also want to see Liu Xue Yi play a cool character, but I feel cringe watching both of them. However, I disagree with you a little bit about The Rise of Ning. In my opinion, the movie is still watchable and not too boring. It's not very exciting, but it can keep me watching. Please upload more video because I don't know what to watch anymore.
I am not surprised with your rant. You did the same with the Double and rated it bad and boring.
No cdramas especially idol period dramas are perfect. Even the top drama like Nirvani in Fire had some extremely ridiculous parts and plots as well.
I was wondering if the dramas from her day were always logically consistent.
The Double was a big commercial hit in China, but Kill Me Love Me flopped right out of the gate. It can be said The Double was just not up to her tastes, but there's a reason this drama underpeformed so badly. The market agrees with AvenueX this time.
@@angelxxsinit’s not flopping. Sure it’s not a big hit but according to the market data it’s doing pretty well.
I love this series. As soon as I saw FL, knew it was going to be brilliant. Unlike my other favourite Chinese FL Zhao Lusi, Wu Jinyan always chooses good scripts. Asian anti-fans are toxic. Watching on Viki (recently posted on Netflix),I predict your prediction about failure is going to fail.
Come on, wu jin yan is a great actress. Booo on you. It's entertaining. Kudos to all actors on this KMLM ... love wu jinyan!, I'd like to see her with rise of ning lead actor 😊❤ bye Take it easy.
@@hrnkanio4610 I totally agree with you I just can't stand it when someone says something bad about her and her acting when you see all her dramas you can see she has improved alot and about that actor of rise of ning I hope they will collaborate in future they kinda of fit together 🥰🥰
I am loving this drama and the leads. I actually am really glad WJY is not a typical beauty and imo she looks really beautiful and interesting.
I've been in a drama slump and not finding any interesting ones since The Double and had my doubts on this one. It's entertaining to watch and get lost in their chemistry.
The whole first ep rant was my thoughts as well but if you continued then it would've made sense why after things were revealed. People are stupid and blind in trauma too. And the whole rant on a pretty female lead is uncalled for. With the way the filter works in this drama, you can see all the scars and sweat and pores of the actors, so I wouldn't call this idol. Even idol, I will still watch it because I think she looks breathtaking in her action shots and her angles are gorgeous! I thought the other girl is very pretty too but looks similar to another actress so she didn't pop for me.
I think you are more harsh now than the past since you're forced to watch so many for your channel.
Girl please thats your personal opinion. Keep it to yourself .
The main actor is giving angifuni and hardcore. He acts but he seems to be tired
So far I like the story, while yes its not a master piece I am enjoying it . Since thats the case by your logic Im a stupid person. got it...
