Extreme Fire Behavior West Zone Cedar Creek Fire Sept 09 2022

West Zone Update: Low relative humidities and high winds resulted in extreme fire behavior today on the Willamette side of the Cedar Creek Fire. Due to the change in evacuation levels designated by the Lane County Sheriff's Office, the Incident Command Post that manage logistics and other essential functions for the West Zone has relocated from Oakridge to Eugene, OR. Operations personnel, firefighters, and firefighting equipment remain engaged on the fire line. Night operations have been strategically placed around the west side of the fire. In order to protect the communities at risk, additional initial attack resources are on scene, including task force teams from the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal, Eugene Fire and Rescue, and Oregon Department of Forestry.
