Nice fish! I've got my personal best hanging on my wall, 31 lbs. Got it in Laguna Beach in 1987. A few weeks later I got another one 30.1 lbs. I haven't shot one since because big ones are so hard to find. Well done!
Epic episode! Wow, loved the upbeat music at the beginning and all the cafes and taco stands you went to. Thanks for sharing the adventure. I remember last year in the Gulf of California you came across fish that looked like a relative of sheephead. Thanks for sharing the delectable dishes at the end, too. Wow.
Glad you enjoyed this one and the upbeat music as well. The ones from the Gulf were very similar. They were called, Mexican Hogfish. Thanks again for the support!
Hey, nice videos! I am curious about the wishbone you seem to using on your gun. Looks like it could be a nice option to carrying a load assist. Can you provide some info or a link, please?
Good vid man. I recommend the birrieria la Guadalajara for your next trip. You guys hit some great spots. Cant go wrong is the truth. I finally said screw it and did a 3 month spanish speaking live in with a family in ecuador. My Spanish was way better than my fiends who took 3 years of Spanish in college after that, haha. It didn’t even cost very much. I never had luck in Baja, I’d either be too cold in my surf suit, bad viz or saw zero fish. But usually on surf trips but with a speargun. Sheephead are seriously my fav fish to eat so what a catch man that was insanely good trip.
Appreciate the kind words. That sounds amazing! Perhaps later on I could do something like that to not only learn the language but the culture a bit deeper. The trip was awesome and it is always fun heading down for some Sheephead.
@@divespeareat yeah I can’t recommend learning the language and spending more time down there enough. I felt a real leap forward when I was down there with Spanish speaking ability. I need to do some dedicated fishing trips down in the warm water.
I did a school / live in with family combo. I think I was getting an hour or two private Spanish lesson a day and then come home and use the stuff you learn. It’s the way to go, you feel pressure from the family to improve lol. It’s seriously dirt cheap to do in many countries.
I love your video but especially your commentary. I was thinking of taking trip down there (from LA) what are your thought of taking my own boat? 19' inflatable? Is it better to just rent?
Appreciate the kind words and I am glad to hear the videos have been helpful. Honestly I don't have much experience at all with taking a boat out (own or rent). From the few divers I know that have a similar sized inflatable, they love it!
what is the shaft, roller and kicker band mm you are using? i got a pathos roller trying to check on optimal setup. though im thinking of changing bearing to ceramic, do you know what brand can do this?
Shaft: Pathos Sandvik 7mm Roller: 16mm Kicker: 14mm Let me know if you change out your rollers. I would love to change out my rollers to ceramic bearing rollers too. I would imagine you would use the same band diameter (16mm)
@@divespeareat i did a huge research... in the end i swap out with the MVD roller head. there is increase in performance, Pathos roller uses bushes (just one solid piece) really inefficient. MVD roller muzzle there is a small hole (i believe it is for invert setup) ,i used the hole to make a kicker band. way better setup. However mine was the Carbone version, the muzzle is round. for urs is going to be hard to do it, unless you swap out the barrel to either carbon or aluminium.

Appreciate the kind words! I have used Yeko Charters both times. You can get in touch with him via Instagram: instagram.com/yekcoast_fish_dive_surf/
