For those new to watches: collecting watches is easy and cheap. It is a fun and innocent hobby. And your wife and or girlfriend will be very understanding and supportive.
First watch lately in this price range that has moved me into that scary place of not needing to spend the money, but really wanting to spend the money. I really like this timepiece and a little over 2 grand is expensive, but not other big named chronometer expensive. I can see it on my wrist and that is a beautiful thing. Thanks Nick. Nice review
Thanks for the review. Could you let me know if you can use the diver's bezel on the GMT? If so, when it's on, is it bidirectional and is it 48, 60, or 120 clicks?
The only dealbreaker for me on this piece are the missing numerals (18 and 6 on the dial and bezel). Otherwise another home run from Formex. Great review, Nick!
I'm going to point out another inconsistency that may annoy a watch-nut. Besides missing some numbers, the inner GMT hours are radial-flipped, while the bezel numbers aren't. Meaning, the numbers on the top half and bottom half of the dial aren't oriented in the same direction. 2 and 10 and so on aren't oriented the same way, but they are on the bezel.
Argh Nick! You’re giving me a heart attack, folks - never set the date on a mechanical watch when it indicates anywhere between 10 and 2 o’clock as it can f’up the movement! Sorry to comment/rant on a year old video but I’m currently looking into buying a Reef GMT and your reviews are very reliable and helpful! Just - please - set the watch to 6:30 before changing the date…
I need a new dive watch because I’m tired of changing the battery in the one that I have now. I dive and the watch does great things for me while I’m diving, but the problem with it occurs when I’m not diving, and I sweat, my sweat drips on to the sensor that activates the dive mode when it gets wet, which in turn, uses up battery much faster. The watch is a citizen aqualand duplex. I would like to find a replacement that offers the same features, but without the drawback of the battery going dead so fast.
My fiancée got me this exact watch on the steel bracelet as an engagement/wedding gift. The rose gold isn’t normally my style, but her ring is rose gold and I felt since my ring will be yellow gold, that it would be something I can coordinate with her.
👏 I’m definitely considering this exact watch as a substitute for my 1986 Rolex Sumariner (16800) daily driver. Just had it serviced and I’d rather have a watch like this when I’m working on the ranch or doing something rough. I’ve been wearing this Rolex since I bought it, with my dad’s help, in 1986. This Formex would be a GREAT alternative and is priced just $300 less than I paid in ‘86! 🤣 Thanks for making me aware of it, Nick! 👊😉
I’m sorry but Myota 9000 new calibre is a “true” GMT for half the price of a Sellita 330-2 not COSC etc etc but it’s half price ( I have 3 Formex) the Reef is super, an Essence cool and a Legerra do like if they keep the prices lower plus offer 2 straps maybe my humble opinion happy Season holidays
The Miyota 9075 traveler's GMT movement is definitely a game changer, but it is substantially thicker than the Selitta 330 movement and probably louder as well.
I believe other YT channels have started to call "true" GMT movements (hour hand moves independantly) as "travelers' GMT". And the SW330 type as "office GMT", meaning for non-travelers.
There's no such thing as a "true GMT" since neither Rolexes nor this watch or others like it can measure the GMT offset in half-hour increments. Anyway the description you are actually after is "traveller GMT" vs "caller GMT". I love your reviews and all the efforts you put in cheers!
I absolutely love the reef but knowing the formex brand I feel they have probably missed a trick with this watch. It would be great if the interchangeable bezels also fit this reef but I guess they probably don't.
You can get into watches without spending thousands. I have a pro diver and might get a seiko 5 in the future. Good reliable seiko movement mechanical watches and they look great
Aren’t you worried about getting mugged wearing your watches out in public? I keep seeing news about thefts in broad daylight even in upscale areas. Maybe you can feature some of your watches that you feel comfortable wearing in regards to possible theft
every time i see a nice watch with a good logo/design i instantly know for a FACT i cant afford it 😂 been right 101% of the time but this was a lil more reasonable atleast

Hahahahahabawahaabawhahaha......ooooh, you sir, have won the internets today!
Agreed, in todays current economic situation it's a great idea to get into the hobby.
😑
Don't lie to the children
@@mtargetproduction I would neverrrrr

This is my number one contender on the “next watch buy” list. Probably the best review of this watch up to date. Great job Nick!
Love the adjustability Formex always does.
22:35 the movement moves inside the case when you adjust it. This is beyond fugly.
Well spotted! That's put me off this watch completely.
I ordered one and the dial didn't move, but wasn't centered correctly so I've returned it. Lesson learnt.
damn! 😢 i was falling in love with it until you pointed that out.
Oof, can't be unseen. But I think he said somewhere this was a pre production version?
Great review, man. Detailed and fun. The most comprehensive review of this unit

Just don't travel to those time zones 😂

Great review. Thanks for highlighting this "office/caller" GMT movement.
The quick-release bracelets are awesome. More brands need to be doing that.
Nice to see such a nice bracelet design, thank you sir.
One other thing you did not mention is that you can swap the Reef dive bezel on tbe Reef GMT, which gives the Reef GMT dive and GMT capability.

The bracelet system is awesome
Great review - thanks Nick! If Formex fix the flare on the mesh bracelet then I'll definitely put an order in!

You hit 150,000 subs man that's awesome
This is a F..... gorgeous watch! Yes, as in Formex.
Another great review, and another non-notification from Yootoob. Too bad the platform isn't a gem like the watch is.
It's a beauty.
Are the gen 2 reef bezels able to fit on the GMT?
Yes.
Great review, very detailed 👌🏻

Is it just me or does the breadth of the bezel of this Formex seem out of proportion (too wide) to the dial ?
I absolutely love the reef but knowing the formex brand I feel they have probably missed a trick with this watch. It would be great if the interchangeable bezels also fit this reef but I guess they probably don't.
I believe they do, but I haven't confirmed.
@@NickShabazz I've just been informed by formex that the timing bezel will fit the gmt but it will stay bi directional

a bit too expensive for me, i think i'll wait for the 4mex scout
I love your watch content and hate it - see the first comment
wow look like new Omega Seamaster Ti version from Now time to die

The nice part about brands like Formex is that they're not worth the risk to most thieves. But if I had a gold Rolex, I'd be a bit more paranoid.
Hey Nick how do I spot a knockoff Ontario Rat 2 in D2?
every time i see a nice watch with a good logo/design i instantly know for a FACT i cant afford it 😂 been right 101% of the time but this was a lil more reasonable atleast
Wish there were customer travelers GMT calibers. Despite that, still a great watch.
Am I the only one here that thinks this guy sounds like a cartoon character from a familiar show.........
You mentioned luxury watch..$2000 that’s nothing..this is in Longines, Oris, Hamilton, territory
Slow down man, you talking like you were chased by a bulldog. Nice vid btw
I'll never understand mechanical watches without a window on the back. Buy a quartz watch, then. They're cheaper and better.
swiss made. automatic. user friendly. looks great. at $2000, sounds like a home run.
