This is why I like Austin, he’s a relatable dude. He gets to play basketball with LeBron but off the court he’s just at the crib chilling, staying out of trouble & minding his own business.
Gotta be rooting for this kid, given where he is from and where he is now and the respect he gets. TO me, always interesting to hear an athlete's irrational confidence in themselves.
Austin Reeves is a wonderful impact wow player that I think most people can easily relate to. Humble, but with a dream, and no matter how he is perceived by others, he has the belief that he can hold his own and still be respected for who he is. Loved the podcast and the genuine free flowing engagement.
Yeah, he's relatable since he's not a freak athlete (I'm his size and he's really only slightly more athletic than I was in my mid 20s, I might have gotten to his level of athleticism if I actually focused on my fitness - and no, my basketball skills aren't even close to his so I can't relate on that level), he kind of shows that the floor athleticism and size isn't that crazy (I know he's 6'5", but as fellow 6'5" guy that doesn't feel crazy tall to me, especially since I've played guys 6'7"-6'10" before) for an NBA player. Like he's a very solid role player with the ability to be the star of the game some nights at the NBA level despite not really having one skill set that seems super unobtainable. Like even Curry, who people have said is so popular because he's so relatable due to being only 6'3" and not freakishly athletic, has an unreal natural shooting touch that might as well be the equivalent of being 6'8" with a 40 inch vertical. Reaves is like what happens if that tall guy in the office maxed out his basketball potential. When I watch him I kind of wonder could that have been me if I had his drive, work ethic, fearless mentality, and passion for the game.
I am genuinely happy we got this episode reminded me why I really like Austin as a person and a player. I've cooked all season but he's brought me back to team Austin
It's been dope to see the progress since 2021. Looking forward to watching his whole career. Keep going A.R 💪. Time for the team to come back from the IST High
That’s basically everyone in the NBA, except maybe the Giannis’ brothers. lol. Nobody gets handed a team without accountability. Teams learned that lesson the hard way during the 1990s expansion era, when practice squad level dudes were starting in NBA games.
I'm a Kobe fan forever, BUT if AR played with Kobe, Kobe would have loved him and molded him into an Elite player and more Fearless. Great interview Guys.
Austin is one of my favorite players. I watched his dad play back in high school he was good too. Made it to the Indiana state finals in 1989. Played division 1 ball in college.
As a Dubs fan, I love everything about Austin Tyler Reaves! I’ve watched him since his very first game against the Suns in October of 2021 and I’m in absolute awe of his story! I believe he’s well on his way to becoming a, Superstar! For those of you who know me, I’ve been saying it since midway thru his second year for the Lakers! ⭐️
“I was a kobe fan and was shitting on you back in like 2012” is unironically hilarious for lebron to hear in his first practice with some undrafted white dude hes never heard of 😭😭
AR has caught my attention from the moment he started getting playtime on Lakers. Dude is such an interesting and hardworking player . So cool to see an undrafted player work his way into being a relied on player on one of the most popular and winningest franchises while playing alongside a hall of fame player who people argue is the GOAT(I don’t but he’s definitely top 2 in my opinion) is so cool. Such a wholesome story . I have sooo much respect for him
The whole GOAT debate is so tiring 😂 as if society forces you to pick ... I have many favorite players and every year a new one comes on my list even rookies...players from teams I normally don't support...I definitely got to like Lebron a lot more over the years off the court great and smart person...
As a Laker fan watching him day in and day out, you could see really early on that he just "got it" on the court. Whether he's knocking down shots or not, 9 out of 10 times, he's making the right play on the court. You're going to succeed more often than not with dudes like that.
Man that story about the kids being 9/10 with trainers and insta pages is so depressing. There's an amazing documentary I need to find which followed a bunch of these kids, as it's been happening for a while now, and come 16/17/18 they are legitimately burned out, like the sport is work, and they want a break from work, the joy got lost. Need to find the documentary
That happened to me, I played baseball basketball and football, travel basketball and baseball since I can remember, by the time I was in high school I didn’t even want to play anything anymore, ended up making all the wrong decisions
As a Celtics fan I naturally hate anyone with a Laker jersey but I respect AR! He’s doing this in a place where most people would fold! How many times have Lakers got players who are doing good and once the lights come on in LA they can’t hit a shot! I just wished he would put on some muscle so he can play better defense. He gets bumped out the way a lot!
32:27 I wonder if Bron giving him the ball in that Memphis series a test from him… Like the final hurdle … Bron does everything for a reason and yes maybe it’s because he’s great, but He knew it was his first playoff experience… AR is an amazing story and player and Bron is a genius! I am truly happy for AR and the bag he got and to his Agent as well.
It was great to see how after Austin started slow this year, all the naysayers were in glee… now hes back to the player we expected him to be and you dont hear a peep. Lol. Dude can play and should be an important piece for the Lakers future.
folks, quick question: being from the EU I don't get to watch a lot of the NBA sadly, 53:06 which are these "less than a handful" offenses they are thinking about when talking about "continous action that flow into the next action"? (apart from GOlden State and Sacramento, which they mention later) thanks!
I really like Austin i can see why Lebron has him as one is sideman...Lakers will be fine if Lebron is retired...very mature and responsible and intelligent player
I’m really starting to like him too. He’s a great player and he usually is very mature but sometimes during an interview after a game he doesn’t act like he’s 26 years old.
Just a head coach talking to his player 🤩🤩
Austin and Coach chopping it up. Excited to see what’s ahead
This is why I like Austin, he’s a relatable dude. He gets to play basketball with LeBron but off the court he’s just at the crib chilling, staying out of trouble & minding his own business.
Yea, let's hope my guy stays out of those DMs that will land him in trouble. Stay Focused A.R
That’s the recipe for success for 90% of the league. When any public action ends up on ESPN you gotta lay low and be a certified hooper.

Like LeBron too, actually
this is probably one of the best basketball podcasts,, Steph has been on, Durant has been on, still waiting for Bron's episode
Keep waiting, Bron doesn't just talk to anyone....
@@drummer4life-wp7ow Bron and JJ are friends actually, they went to the same youth basketball camp if I’m not wrong
you can't put Bron in the middle, he has to be the 1000th ep.
@@temuulmunkhturyup I agree 💯..bron needs to be on a great special episode.
bron probably won’t be on a podcast until he retires i feel like he would wait so he can reflect on his career
How is jj always unaware that they are not ready 💀
At this point I’m not sure 😂, the question always give great responses though I’m sure that’s why
To be fair to him... it was my fault lol

Not ready for what I’m confused

"I just retired two years ago, by the way," JJ is pretty funny
Had to double back after the hire . Can't wait to see the journey

The Old Man and The Three is now at 1M Subs! Let's goo! Been watching since the beginning, one of the best Podcast !
Austin has earned everything he’s gotten and deserves the praise he gets as a great human being

It's really surprising that LeBron James and Stephen Curry were born in the same hospital.
They were in there splicing DNA for different basketball skills into them lol
Revisiting on the announcement, congrats JJ!
Thank you JJ and Tommy. Merry Christmas gents. 🍻

The best ball podcast in the game! I'd love longer episodes tho 😪
This POD is definitely a top 3 for me, I look forward to JJ... I'm a Lakers fan, so glad I got hear A.R, I'm rooting for this dude!!!!

Thanks for the upload Jj & tommy.
Amazing Podcast JJ n Tommy!
After JJ constantly whining that he had to give up the 100k plaque to Tommy, we finally got him his 1 mill plaque. Also AR15 LESSS GOOO
Minority Report, should be the title of this episode.
gotta get Lebron and Kawhi on 2 hr episodes each
Kawhi seems to be a pretty sheltered dude, idk if he’d do well on a pod
@@MultiBluedog123 agreed dude is autistic he can't have a conversation with someone
For me those two coaches are head and shoulders above everyone else for the reward !!! As for the interview i love the vibe AR and JJ have :)
Didnt know Austin sounded so country lol
Yea MANE 🤠🤠
Let’s go Reaves!!! #Lakeshow
Great episode. Fan of this dude on the court and seems solid off the court. What more can you ask?
Congratulations on 1M!
JJ should have a sit down like this with all of his players now that he's a coach. Would go a long way in building relationships.

Oh, loved him in O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Great interview, 🤙🏼I think it’s surprising how no one has yet to ask AR about his game winning 3 vs the Mavs.

The hair is the And One. It bouncing around and flicking as the head goes back is a sign the the referee.
Okay. I officially love the dude. But… this happens with pretty much every interview JJ and Tommy do! ::chuckle::
