The VMI Cadets never marched or fought carrying the Confederate flag. ONLY the VMI flag and Virginia Flag.

They flew the Stars and Bars…I’m from New Market

@@cathylarkins9949 sorry in their own historical biography, they acted as an independent company in all of their engagements. They never carried the Stars and Bars into battle, only the flag of the VMI Academy. They were authorized to carry a battle streamer for each of the 14 engagements they were in, now only use the one from the Battle of New Market.

Great respect. I like their leaning before fixing bayonets, just a touch of class by these cadets.

We are a united nation now, have been for a long time......but, I think a CSA Honor Guard, should also be present. Guess that would cause too much of a stir, in today's time. We are not to even remember them now.

They should be remembered for one thing, being a bunch of traitors that fought for a horrible cause.

@@BenchPressManiac so sad ......it's like closing the door on the history of bravery and valor......but hey, somebody's gotta defend the people who just play video games all day.

Good. They died as dirty traitors and should be remembered for that alone.

Oh as a Son of Virginia your school and history has made me proud. I was so proud of your history but alas you have turned your backs on your own history. you caved in to the woke people and removed the Jackson statue. Shame on you to dishonor one of your own. Please do the right thing remove the brave Cadets and the Virginia mourning her dead to a place where they will be honored. Perhaps section 16 Arlington. Shame on you.

What asinine comments. don't see any flag besides Virginia's and VIM.

An offensive mockery of those young men that died at New Market. On the one hand VMI does not honor them for what they died for but does not fail to use them as a prop in the rewritten history of the school. VMI should abandon the ceremony all together.

why. honoring the U.S. Veterans that died at New Market is good.

would you explain? I am not being difficult, and would like to know exactly the hypocrisy/inconsistency of which you speak. It sounds ot like at all and did not know this was going on. I see the CSA graves of the cadets and Virginia Mourning Her Sons. That sounds like CSA stuff to me. Just asking. Thx.

Phil L did you go to VMI? You don't have a clue, do you? Using the fallen of New Market as props to rewrite the history of the school? That makes no sense at all. Or are you trying to sneak in the old "they fought for slavery" argument?
Of all the parades at VMI, the New Market ones are the ones we took most seriously and tried to do our very best at. Maybe if you read up on what the cadets went through at that battle, as well as the fact they marched 80+ miles just to get there, you might appreciate the significance of this. But I doubt it. It's easier to anonymously post stupid comments on something you know nothing about.
