    Ok so Blender 2.82 just came out! And this tutorial doesn't work... One way to fix it is to use a cylinder instead of a circle for the emitter or any object that is NOT flat. If you want to see a tutorial with the official release click here. th-cam.com/video/QcsxPAbGsKM/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks for the great tutorial, and for updating it. Would also be very helpful if you could show us how to have an imported mesh (stl or other) work as a fluid effector.

    The initial velocity issue has been solved in the latest daily build, builder.blender.org/download/. Now it will disperse the fluid into the direction the velocity is set, not just straight down gravity flow.
    You need to experiment with settings on the Time Scale and Resolution Divisions of the domain, the emitter's initial velocity and its Sampling Substeps. They all will greatly effect how it will work and look. There are many other smaller settings that can tweak the look of it.

    I'm unable to reproduce on 2.90.1 Is there some global settings to change in order for a simulation to work ? I foolowed the steps precisely on many tutorials and I was unable to display any fluid simulation at all, even though my computer has a hard time while doing the "baking" process. Is there other fluid simulators on blender that work better than this...thing ? Thanks

    I'm curious. In all animations like this, I just see a simple Box for a domain. Is it possible to edit the domain's shape (say, to make it look like a stream), orf does the domain need to be a cube?

    • @OGPatriot03
      @OGPatriot03 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use any mesh irrc but it automatically creates a box volume for the purpose of the fluid resolution anyway.
      So I think it's best to just stick with cubes anyway.

    Thank you for a great tutorial, sadly I'm having trouble replicating any of it, it drives me crazy so I have a few questions. With the Domain cube my "Bake" buttons just disappeared, they are no longer there under Settings or Mesh. they were there yesterday in Both 2.82 and 2.83(I downloaded after I was not getting right results in the older version, probably because I did not know about Surface Emission ) but any way If you know why Bake buttons would all of a sudden vanish form the Domain _ Liquid physics window, please let me know, thank you.

    I actually followed all of your steps and checked several times if I missed out on something. The simulation will not work for me. After baking data I can't see any particles. When using a cube as inflow object it doesnt work either, but only if I set the parameter 'surface emission' to a value like 1. I read many times, that this parameter should actually be 0 for a closed mesh. (Actually it was always talked about surface thickness, but there is no such parameter for the inflow object in my version 2.82a). With a small value like 0.1 it did not work either.
    And when particles are produced, they just seemed to flow through my cube as if it wasnt there! I set it up as effector (collision) and still it was neglected completly- the particles did not collide against it.
    Another thing is, that the particles did not really come in like they should corresponding to the initial velocity Vektors, and my particles seemed to land on the "roof" - but my z axes was pointing up - so I dont know if gravity is pointing the way up (+z instead od -z) or whats happening.
    I dont know,..the whole thing just doesnt work like it does in this video after doing the exact same steps
    EDIT: just noticed your comment at the top, sorry about that. However, just because using a cylinder things dont work for me. I still have to have a value greater than zero for "surface emission" (fow source) and my cube also only worked as collision effector when I set a surface thickness greater than 0- something which is not not supposed be done/ needed either..

    I think the bubbles weren't showing at first because you put the same IOR for the icosphere as for the water, I'd say the bubbles should have the refraction of air. At least that's how the physics work in real life. Also, I would make them 100% transparent and not partially opaque.
