Cheers Konrad, totally agree that nowhere else compares when you can see it ;-) Though good weather can bring the midges - all a very fine balancing act 😀
Brilliant time out gerry. I think that's one of your best for a while. The vibes were great - it's as if you were really savoring this one. In no rush in other words. You certainly gave us a great tour of some spectacular corries and mountain views. Wow, a lock like glass with trout jumping. What a spit to camp. Lovely stuff gerry. Enjoyed that. Mark
Cheers Mark, it was great to be out wild camping for the first time this year, had really missed all that it brings with it. Am looking forward to more, if the weather is kind :-)
Watched this on the big telly last night so only commenting now, but this is a brilliant film Gerry. B roll is awesome, the timelapses are superb (the clouds running down and up the corrie walls 😲) and the craic is 90 :-) Liked the tip about using the head of the lough to maximise the midge destroying breeze, looks like it worked well in the morning. (that shot at night looked like an endurance mission, get the filming done before the midge dance starts!) Thanks for sharing, am really looking forward to heading to this part of the country - the 360 views are incredible, mountains everywhere!
Wonderful Gerry, I really enjoyed this. Then time lapses looked great, it really makes me want to get there and explore the hills there. So many compositions I spotted. Thanks for sharing.
Glorious video Grerry. Just when I thought I could not fall anymore in love with Mayo lol. Perfect choice for music and really nice time lapses. Thank you for inspiring us to explore this beautiful county.
Beautiful place to hike. I'm surprised how dense some of those forest looked at the beginning and end. The mountain lakes are really nice and remind me of the lakes in Oregon's Cascade Mountains. Nice video.
Cheers, much of the commercial forestry plantations here are very dense, especially early in life. Sounds like the Cascade Mountains are pretty cool too :-)
I really enjoyed this one, especially as I (partly) did this hill - or hills as you say - a couple of years back. I climbed up to the trig point from the west side, which was pretty steep, heathery and unforgiving. I realised afterwards on closer examination of other reports that there are several better routes. Anyway, the light and weather were against me, but I definitely plan a return, as the views are magnificent in all directions ! North and west Mayo is a special area in my book. Thanks for another great post. Not sure I would have braved the midges if I camped though :) . Well done!
Cheers, I have tramped through that heather approaching from the west and it was not a joyful experience! I think there is also an approach from the south. I agree fully about Mayo. The midges are annoying more than anything and it just takes a little wind to keep them at bay.
Cheers, at the minute am using a Panasonic Lumix to record in 4k along with a GoPro Hero 4 for the speaking bits. Had been using an old Canon DSLR for years and this is a big improvement in picture quality
The start is on the R319 road to Achill, turning up a rough forest track on the left just before Lough Gall on the right. The route link is on Viewranger below and may give you a better sense of the starting point. my.viewranger.com/route/details/MzIzMjY4NQ==
Beautiful, just beautiful, thanks Gerry
Cheers Richard, Mayo is definitely up there in terms of beauty :-)
Good old Ireland , when we get the weather there’s nowhere that compares. Great share Gerry and your pitch was perfect 👌 👍👍

@@gerrymcveigh A pleasure gerry. This was a great first time back. I to look forward to more from you. Take care...
Wonderful views from the top Gerry. Thank you for yet another stunning guided tour.
Cheers Tom, yet another beautiful place in the west of Ireland and a wee bit more rugged than the Belfast Hills ;-) I hope you are well.

David, Mayo (and Donegal) has to be my go to place in Ireland for walking, wild camping, hills and dramatic coastline, though not the midges ;-)
Great video Gerry. Its a part of the country i need to explore more.
Cheers, there are so many great parts of the country😊
Amazing as usual. Thank you for sharing these moments of calm and beauty.
Cheers Shirley, it was definitely a calm and peaceful trip with just nature for company :-)

Peter, a stunning area and easily accessible :-)
There was a low angle lough shot early on that had me comping away in my head!

Cheers, I always find something new to love when visiting Mayo :-)
Spectacular Views Gerry, well captured again :)
Cheers Mark, it was great to be back there after so many years and for it to be as cool as i remembered :-)

I have these on my Arderin to-do list
George, these are beautiful hills in a stunning location that I have walked a few times and literally met no one else. Well worth a visit👍

Found your channel on TH-cam last night and can't stop watching, fantastic stuff, what camera do you use Gerry?
