I feel like so many channels, even incredible ones, always feel like they're skipping steps even in videos meant to give you an overview of a song fron unknown to soloing over it. This feels like you're putting in each of the steps, each of the creatively painful/boring/but incredibly important steps that I have been trying to find. Excellent video, especially because it doesnt feel like it should be, but that makes it exactly what it needs to be
I like this video. This video shows your love for jazz, as well as the vulnerability of the new jazz guitar player. With many gold nuggets, to move a beginner forward. If I may, if you had a video that shows how to start the process of memorizing all 12 keys. As well as, memorizing all the notes on the fret board; that would be excellent. Is memorizing all 12 keys; and memorizing the fret board a priority? If so how did you get competent on the fret board? wrtoomes
The way I learned to play in all twelve keys was the Barry Harris method. There are three diminished chords and each diminished chord creates 4 dominant chords by sliding one finger back on each string individually.... so for B diminished you can create four dominants Bb7 , E7 , G7 , Db7 ... so there is four keys Eb , A , C , F # Same applies to the other two diminished chords.
Now you got me looking at the chart... well the layout is fairly simple i mean the chords dont look too complicated... never looked before or tried playing it. I am pretty sure though if you are going to solo that knowing the melody super well is very necessary.... this tune though its more like a solo itself.....Thanks for all your work
I always liked your phrasing there are things you played months ago that stuck in my head and I even started using sometimes when I improvise then laugh at myself and think that's tinas lick lol I've said this before, there's a certain swagger to playing bebop, maybe staccato is part of what makes your notes sound appealing and sort of leaving that little space of silence just before the 1 beat creates a pocket... 0:05 I started with the five positions of the major scale too 1:37 thank you for showing us what chords you play, I'm always questioning what voicing to use, donna lee is such a powerful tune - the charlie parker for guitar book says the changes are based on the jazz standard (back home in) Indiana 9:06 improv starting to sound good 9:40 I know my upper structures but knowing how to think over changes is my favorite thing coming from you when I watch your videos
there are many ways to play a major scale on the fretboard :) there is not one methode that is necessarily the right one.... as long as you know where the actual notes are it´s not so important which concept you use
Vielen Dank für Ihre Übung. Ich habe eine guitar pro Version gemacht von Ihrer Etude on Donna Lee. Wenn Sie wollen schicke ich Sie Ihnen zu. Ich bin Hobby-Musiker.
If Bill Withers can sing one note for half a song and it be a hit (ignoring how amazing the rest of the song is) this one note with some rhythm is sure to go viral

There are 7 patterns of the major scale, one for each mode with 3 notes starting on the low E.

Which Ibanez is that? Sounds great.
@@graemehill5998 its the ibanez john scofield model
I hope it sounds great for the price but there are much more expensive guitars than this one
Near syncope
What are you using for recording? Amp, DI?
it’s a fender blues deluxe re issue amp
What model of guitar is that?
Ibanez JSM100-VT John Scofield
Very good teaching and very cute lady. ♥
Thank you! 😃
