- Back in the day I was a professional organizer. My specialty was helping people to downsize and declutter, which has served me well as I transitioned in to my RV life.
Now, I don’t ascribe to the usual rules for organizing, and have instead developed my own school of thought, based in practicality, logic, and real life considerations. I hope that I can impart some wisdom and bring a new point of view to this topic. And as always, I hope you find this video both entertaining and educational.

I started to declutter two years ago and I am still giving away and throwing stuff out. It's amazing how much stuff we keep for no apparent reason. Thanks for sharing, good to know I am not the only one to keep old school books.
Oh my, so much work Kim. The cheese and crackers were not enough to eat!!! You're very organized. I have downsized in stages during my life. Other than my son, I'm the last living relative in my family. I got everybody's special things that they could not part with. I had a "visionary board meeting" with my departed relatives one day while looking up at the sky and said why do I have to make all these decisions that you won't like? LOL I went from a 4 bedroom house to my RV and one storage unit. It took time physically and emotionally. I'm getting ready to go through my storage unit this year and pair it down again. Oh I wish I had a buddy like you to help and encourage me. But it will get done and thanks for sharing your journey, you never know how much it can help someone. And, I no longer have to rent a storage container. If I cannot keep it in my home I do not keep it. So glad, it is done. Feel so much better.

Well done! Now you can relax. Thats about the amount I had. Lots if containers. Now I have about four containers full of paperwork to go through. And a few smaller plastic storage boxes. Cannot believe I did all that work. Also that I held on to so much. When you are ready it will go. Till then, you just deal with it. 😄

I’ll be ur First client! Lol hellllp! 🤪 . Believe it or not I’m a pro housecleaner, for disabled & hoarders , but I can’t flip my own bus 🤪🙏✌️🇺🇸 P.S if I can’t fit it in bus I don’t want it, I Refuse to pay to visit my own stuff 😂🤣
I too still have storage. I'm with you on not getting rid of certain things that you don't use within 6 mths. I am glad I have certain things on hand that I will be needing, just not now. Plus I have trophy artwork from showing dogs that I do not want to let go of. I hope to use it again one day. One friend does have some of my framed pieces hanging in her house that I can get back one day. (All Saluki dog breed art). I'm glad she's enjoying it for now.
It doesn't fit in a 22' motorhome! 😉

Hi, I am just finishing decluttering for the third time. Moved into a medium size senior apartment. Getting rid of as much as I can. Just keeping things I really need and love. Almost finished. Finally. So glad I did it. Feels wonderful. Still have some organizing in my closets but that will be it. 😁 and I will be done. Hooray!

It published before I hit the blue arrow. To finish, they started to raise the storage unit fee a little bit every three months until you ask yourself why are you keeping things you may never use again. I found room in the condo for a couple of paintings I liked and a few outfits but basically sold or donated the rest. It felt so good. At this age I do not want stuff.
I hear 'ya Peri. And you know what REALLY drove the "stuff" realization? My mom's passing. She had so many belongings that just ended up in either the trash or donation outlets...my brother kept some things (but his apt is small) and I couldn't take much of anything bc her things, although very beautiful, aren't very"rv friendly".
If I ever decide to rent a storage unit that’s 10 times bigger than the one I can afford this might come in really handy.

I'm so glad to hear that! And don't tell anyone, but I'm actually moving into a slightly larger unit at the end of this year 🤦🏼♀️ so I suppose I'll have to do an update and confess my back-sliding 🤣🤣

@@worthydaily3749 Good on you for that!! I know it can be most helpful to establish a "critera for keeping" first. Like for me, originally it was "for my tiny house" (because,I thought that was where I was heading in the begining)It made the process of purging very Black & White - it eliminates the emotional desire to hang on to things. I think my next round might be related to "only the good stuff", meaning easy for someone else to keep or sell if something were to happen to me 😵 (I think I still have PTSD from dealing with my mom's estate...)

@@RoamTownGirl I live in Colorado now. I know lots of good camping here. I really liked That Pot Creek you recommended. How about boondocking by Las Cruces? My brother lives there.
I'm going to be passing through the west side of Colorado in a few months - along HWY 139 north. Are you anywhere around that area? And when you mentioned boondocking near Las Cruces - are you looking for a place or do you know of a place...sorry, I wasn't sure 😜
@@RoamTownGirl I live in Colorado springs. But I camp a lot over by Salida and turquoise lake. I was in Quartzsite for a week in January. Next month I'm going to Moab and Then Phoenix to see my dad. Some BLM areas were closed again last year do to a wildfire and vandelism. The government hear seems to use every excuse they can to close public land, but then never reopen it.
