Yeah someone told me that on my other video I just recorded this one before that one got published. Super interesting to me. I hope you don't mind I pinned your comment, I think a lot of other people will appreciate the info.
I LOVE this Mineral Green Denim! I believe the official paint for WWII was called "olive drab" I think this has WAY more metallic pop than the olive gold of 2015.
@@throttleblip9854 From the research I did, the superstition may have started with a bad race car crash in 1911, then another in 1920. But like many superstitions, the facts don't always apply. I bet more black Harleys have bad luck...of course we see way more black than green so I argue from total numbers not percentages. 😉
I own a ‘21 Road King Special with the Deadwood Green color. Best bike I’ve ever had and most reactions I’ve gotten by other bikers and people generally. Only mods I’ve done are Factory 47 14 inch bars and crash bars, drag specialties predator iii seat, lead turn signals and the Harley curved license plate holder. Best bike ever!!
I'm glad to see that they did not discontinue the Road King. i currently own a 2012 Road Kind standard that I've owned since new. I love my bike! It's definitely a keeper😃
Definitely more interested in the Road King Special. I couldn’t agree more with you about the turn signals, break lights, and docking hardware. I can only hope HD listens up to what could be a great suggestion.
Love this bike!! I’m struggling to find any videos or photos with how it looks with the bags removed. Can you include a few shots of that on your next review please? 🙏🏼
By far (!!!!) BEST BIKE ever by H-D..... !! Nothing beats its looks, performance, versatility... and - above all - genuine classic nature of what a Harley should look like, proudly presenting its unique beauty
Thanks for the review. It really helped in my decision to buy a 2022 ROAD KING Special. Again thanks for taking your time to detail some of the features I had no idea it had.
I just picked up a 2022 Standard Road King.. Guess I’m an old fud that likes lots of chrome. The bike you reviewed had a $1000 added option that you never mentioned.. That’s the RDRS system (Reflex Defensive Rider System). Provides enhanced ABS and Traction Control, as well as a hill holder function and TPMS.
I love my '11 RK, it's absolutely one of the most overlooked models in the lineup. It's also one of the best values for your money. I don't plan on selling mine ever, just adding to the stable. The RK will remain the foundation of my bikes.
I have a 17 Road King, I don’t think I’ll get rid of it even if I buy a new one 😀. Over the last year I have run into guys who have seen me on mine. They tell me “I had a Road King once and should have never gotten rid of it”.
Been riding 20 plus years. Come from a family of riders. I’ve always heard green was bad luck on the Harley’s since I was a little kid. Never knew a reason , just a superstition that’s stuck with me all my life. That being said the bike does look awesome in my opinion. Coming from a 2021 road king special owner in vivid black from Timms ..
Awesome review, when i watched this review down here in New Zealand I immediately knew i had to have this bike in the mineral green, so i placed an order with the Harley dealer the next day with an expected delivery date here in June 22….can’t wait. Keep up the great work
Thanks for a great review on a very cool ride! I'm a little surprised you forgot to mention the traction/anti slip ( RDRS ) that I saw on the left controls. If you would have pressed the trigger switch once more I believed you get the tire pressures front then rear.
Just bought a 2021 road king special black on black and put 14 inch factory 47 murdered out. Road King all day the most adaptable bike you could put speakers on the bags and a shield on or take it off.
I had a green Indian Bobber, love the color. Within the last 3 weeks that i had the bike, the battery gave out on the highway causing bursts of speed then engine breaking/ shut off/ burst of speed till I got home when it croaked. Replaced the battery then a week later, the rear tire popped on the highway when I was heading to a bike party, followed by a quick tube replacement inside of a damaged tire which was the scariest ride to get back home. Got home in one piece, replaced the tube again and put on a very nice tire, then a week later a car hit me and totaled my bike without injuring me. I was lucky enough to walk away scott free.... I was never the person to believe in superstitions, but that bike had too many unfortunate events all within 3 weeks.
I’ve got a 2018 Road King Special. Great bike. Grey denim. Blacked out. Shaved the emblems off the tank. Don’t get the chrome fuel cap and gauge. Makes no sense. I went low profile on both. Dropped it 1.5” in back. Added open air cleaner and 4” mufflers. 2” tank raise. Kurayken halo LED. Since Harley didn’t offer LED that year. 14” KST Pathfinder bars. Also added the wrapped front fender(Harley option) and CVO rear fender. Bigger taillights. Love the bike.
Awesome review, as usual. Keep up the good work. I'm thinking of getting an RKS later this year. I was kind of disappointed/surprised when HD announced the SG and RG ST models but not a RoadKing-based ST model. I think RKs could be a perfect platform for a performance-oriented built, being the lightest touring model. Maybe we RK lovers just have to save a few bucks, get a used M8 RK standard, put a stage 3 (or 4), and make our own ST version for less money than current touring ST models. Being a performance and RK lover yourself, hope you take up the challenge and build your version of an RKS ST. Who knows, maybe HD takes note :)
First off, I have been watching for a long time and really enjoy the content. This is my dream bike. This bike with some 18inch Carlini Gangster Apes, all blacked out passing lights, and the custom dynamics lower fairings with integrated turn/running lights looks tough and performs like a dream. Currently working with my local HD here in Virginia to make this dream a reality. Thanks for all that you do and I hope the best of success for you guys down there.
I’m thinking about the road king special. I have an Electra glide now and I’m tired of having the fairing on front. I rode a road king that had the windshield and fork mounted wind deflectors and had zero buffering. It also kept you cooler while I rode by letting the wind around you. My Electra glide has lowers and it just about burns you up in the summer.
I bought a 2021 Road King Special in November and I love it. In my opinion it's the best bike Harley makes. I don't like big fairings because I'd rather have a strong head wind that's STEADY over the swirling/buffeting that fairings produce. I like really small windshields just to take the pressure off my chest, but leave my head in "clean air". I do wear a full face helmet any time I ride so that might make a difference in my opinion. Mine came with the docking hardware... Did they add that at the dealer? Or did the '21 come with it normally?
I bought this exact Bike in march awesome bike, i agree that Harley dropped the ball on the tail lights and turn signal but thank you Ciro they fixed that ,however the seat sucks for the female passenger it its all the fun spots with a uncomfortable feeling so a new seat was built for her. great review thank you
I found you and your “channel” early on. I’ve always enjoyed what you do. I remember when you were experimenting with where to put the camera and stuff. LOL! My salesperson at the local Harley shop follows that thought of green being unlucky. I’ll buy what I like. It won’t matter about somebody else’s superstition.
I just bought a ‘21 RK Std. in the crimson and white. Absolutely in love with it. It’s the perfect “Barbie” for me as I can decide how I ride based on what I’m doing that day- windshield yes/no, passenger backrest yes/no, saddlebags, king tour pak, etc. AND, as you said- that classic look is quintessential HD. The 107 is plenty strong enough, but honestly, the ego feels it every time I see the 114 or 117, haha. Can’t wait to see your RK Std. vs. Special next week- they are both awesome looking bikes! Keep up the great content- really enjoy the variety and your no nonsense take!
Really like the green, I don't care what anyone says, that's a very cool color. I have the 2021 RKS in black, love the bike. Your gonna have to change the seat... hard as a rock and the handlebars suck too.Highway pegs and a windshield are a necessity for any touring bike.
Bought a 2021 (New) last month, and I do t see anything that changed between last year and this year…The RKS is hands down my favorite bike…and Love to see these extended reviews…great review and video! Cannot wait for Spring

Green is the color of money 💰… which works for me ! Very good review , love the model and the color is absolutely my favorite. HD has been putting the bigger engine guard since at least the 90s on the touring models
I have a 2021 Road King Special in the Snake Venom color scheme and I have had no bad luck with the bike. However, part of the time it’s purple so maybe take that into consideration for my good luck. I put a Memphis Shades batwing faring on the bike and it looks great and really helps with the wind when riding the highway. If I’m bar hopping, it’s quick detach and easily removable but it looks so good on the bike, I rarely remove it. Anyway, another great review here Bro.
Really appreciate your unbiased review. That color is freakin' awesome. I'm not superstitious... but maybe a little stitious (Michael Scott) Lol. Keep up the great videos homie. I just subscribed.
I’m digging that green, think it’s got something to do with that excellent lighting in the dealership. My 2020 RG standard didn’t come with a heel shifter FYI, Outstanding job on the video!!
In the shovelhead days there was a story of a green Harley that was killing it's owners. You might be able to find it somewhere. It was in an easy rider magazine. That RK SPECIAL is a beauty by the way
As time goes by...i find myself drawn to either the Road Glide special or a Road King. I currently own a Dyna FXDB thats being built out. But down the line in a few yrs would either like to have either the RG or the RK. As far a the green color...I grew up riding Kx' since the age of 7. Im in my 40s & still have a Kawi as an MX bike. If I had a Harley in the color of that RK...i'd be a very happy man. But unfortunately Im not in the maket fir a new bike. Dyna is still a work in progress & will eventually be hand down to my daughter. So trading in is not an option. But when she gets the dyna...I get a new bike. Hope that green is still available. Love the reviews...just started to subscribe to channel.
Love these. Definitely prefer them to the fairing bikes. Someday when I need a good long distance heavy weight bagger, one of these with a quick release windshield would be perfect.
Thank you for the review. I just bought the same bike/color and had it delivered yesterday. Love the color! Now, I can look at it and sit on it. PA weather … I had a 2017 RK Standard previously and really liked what the special had to offer.
I started on a '73 Honda, then got a '78 Kawasaki Kz400, then I took a 25 year layoff, then put 30K on a new 2010 Honda NT700V then toured a 2015 Triumph Tiger 800XCX. I sold the Tiger and am looking for my next bike. This weekend I rode a 2022 denim green Road King. That sound. Yep, I dug it. The feel. The torque. It's nimble. Smooth. It's got the looks. It's a fantastic moto. But I can't do it. By the time I walked out of the dealer with this thing, it would be $30K .. and that doesn't make any sense to me. Not when I can pick up a used, low miles, WATER COOLED, Japanese, big displacement bagger, for under $10K. Someone help me see the light please. What am I missing. Yes, I know it's a Harley.
I’m a new rider looking for a new bike and I’m considering either heritage classic or road king. Any feeling about this decision? Also why doesn’t the road king have an odometer like the heritage?
My bike is green and I’ve had nothing but great luck in situations that could have gone VERY bad (Red light runners, lane changers, deer, sand in the road, night time riding) but my green bike had been awesome
I work at a dealership in CT. This color Road King Special is definitely my favorite. And I also hear of the green bikes being bad luck. Green is my favorite bike color, so I say it's just more for me! I really want a 21 Fat Bob in Deadwood Green soon!
Good review on the RK Special! Thanks for taking the time. Test drove the 17’ (first year of production) and it’s been on my mind since. Like the changes to the 21’ & 22’, but I’ve had one lingering question. I currently ride a Heritage with the bigger tires, which will handle road imperfections better, so I was looking for feedback on the lower profile tires. Have you had any feedback on this?
My next bike will probably be a Road King Special. I don’t agree with you on the engine guard, though. To me, the smaller one looks goofy. Plus you can’t add fairing lowers to the smaller guard.
No there is a cross over pipe tucked up to the frame. Obviously HD has tested that but that part of the pipe is so small it makes me think it's gotta be robbing some power. Even with the cut out bags I'd run a 2into1 I think.
New Subscriber to the channel. Excellent video, thanks! The road king S. is my favorite. Just wish it still came in the Deadwood Green 💚. They practically sold out with that color last year. The mineral green still works, just not as good in my opinion. Love the road king!! Thanks again for putting out the information. Semper fi...
I’ve never been a passenger so I’m curious about the pillion seat. The way it’s shaped it looks like you would slide off because it angles downward. Is that a thing or not?
They definitely make better seats for a passenger, but this is built for looks. That said, they aren't that bad. You sink into it a bit and it'll hold you in place pretty well. Just be holding on during any accelerating...
Windshields- The clear snow shovel windshields look like crap IMO. I have a Windsplitter on my 2020 RKS. It's bolted on and modified to provide fore and aft adjustment (and prevents theft). It looks and functions real well. I came from 20 years on batwings and sharknose glides and this set up with HD lowers word as well for me. Windsplitter looks great on a RK. They were designed originally for the '13 and '14 CVO RK. Great shield.
WW2 the bikes were that army green olive green color and the enemy new if they saw that color they would pick you off .

The next bike I buy will be the RK Special. I've had three King's all have been great but I'm eyeballing the Special now
How are these bikes for short riders 5’7”?
I work at a dealership in CT. This color Road King Special is definitely my favorite. And I also hear of the green bikes being bad luck. Green is my favorite bike color, so I say it's just more for me! I really want a 21 Fat Bob in Deadwood Green soon!
What dealer? Thinking about finally pulling the trigger on something new but not if I have to pay 5k over msrp for anything other than a street Bob.
@Louis R I'm at Mike's Famous Harley-Davidson in New London CT. Give me a call if interested.
Ya love to see a video to compare the two RK
Love the green and blacked out
Good review on the RK Special!
I like the Deadwood green offered last year
My next bike will probably be a Road King Special. I don’t agree with you on the engine guard, though. To me, the smaller one looks goofy. Plus you can’t add fairing lowers to the smaller guard.
I have a 2019 Road King Special. Definitely go with the Road King
I would love to see a Road king Special ST!! Maybe a FXR style faring option. And move the dash up!! Ditch the yellow display!!
Is the left side pipe fake?? I see 2-1 on right side. Forgive my ignorance lol
No there is a cross over pipe tucked up to the frame. Obviously HD has tested that but that part of the pipe is so small it makes me think it's gotta be robbing some power. Even with the cut out bags I'd run a 2into1 I think.
The windshield obviously is good for the wind, also rain, bugs, rocks, and occasionally deer.
I love this bike and want one soooooo bad,
Completely murdered out. 😍
LED’s would be nice on this thing.
I've heard that green is bad luck.. But don't believe it. Looks fantastic
What are the cc’s of Roadkings?
New Subscriber to the channel. Excellent video, thanks! The road king S. is my favorite. Just wish it still came in the Deadwood Green 💚. They practically sold out with that color last year. The mineral green still works, just not as good in my opinion. Love the road king!! Thanks again for putting out the information. Semper fi...
Very happy with my 2021 Road king 👍👍
Hello Matt, thank you for your video, and plz we need a new video for the Street Glide st or Road glide st - thanks Matt
I’m planning to buy a Road King Special in December 2023. Hopefully lighter colors will be available on that year.
Im a 64 year old oldschool harley rider coming up my stepbrother who was in a mc always said green is unlucky
What other bikes come in this color
Prettiest bike Harley makes
Love my 2021 Road King Special!!!
That Green/Black 🤓🔥! Wow. Even the Standard. Theyre both just what you think when you say Harley
I’ve heard that green was bad luck, but then I think, “if that were true, Kawasaki has been bad luck for decades.”
I like my bikes green!
Such a beautiful bike!!
I love it!
The Road King is what it says it is.... King of the Road! Rides Better than a Street Glide or a Road Glide... ( In stock form that is)
