    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nothing can do 120 fps 4k that I know of. Titan Xp gets 50 fps, 2x Fury gets 55-60, and just guessing, but 4x Fury should be around 90 fps. I'm not sure Vega supports 4x CF, I haven't seen any on Firestrike, but it should be pretty close to 100-130 fps, so it might actually do it.
      Nvidia doesn't stand a chance at it though, only allowing 2x SLI and poor scaling (4 old furies are close to 4x Titan Xp at 1/4 the cost, they scale immensely better).

      Aye, not to butt in or anything and i know this is already a year old, but some people who got a watercooled build are just as normal gamers as you out there. I upgraded my system over time, replaced the GPU first (huuuuuge upgrade back in the day from a GTX 760 192bit 1.5GB to a brandspankin GTX 1080 GLH from Gainward. That was a huuge upgrade, i since upgraded everything else including the CPU and with it MoBo, Ram, PSU and i threw in a SSD for good measure. And i watercooled the GPU because i like to have free performance via OC but also want me card to last long, so i put it on water. And i hope that these upgrades will last me a great long time because i dont wanna upgrade any time soon. Aint nobody got money for that

    First off, loved this personal video! You gave me a good couple of laughs. Secondly, real estate prices in the UK sure are crazy. I have a colleague who moved from the UK to Malmö (the third largest city in Sweden). Mainly because it is actually feasible of getting an independent life here. But I guess it is just a matter of years before we have the same situations as the UK, especially since house and apartment prices have been skyrocketing the last couple of years... I was lucky getting a one-room apartment for ~67 000£, (which you will need 15% in cash to get a loan), interest is currently at 2%, but the rent is only 115£/mo. So, I consider myself being very lucky. But yeah, it's not easy going independant for young people anymore.

    I recently picked up an IBM System x3500 M4 for the equivalent of £125 (NZ$250), complete with 16 GB of ECC RAM and 500 GB SAS HDD on an LSI 9240 RAID controller. I did some slight modifications to it, mainly to quieten the fans and route a power cable for 6-pin PCI-E adapters, swapped the Xeon E5-2620 for my existing E5-1650 v2, and added a GTX 760 Ti (IBM doesn't play nice with AMD cards), a CMI8828 PCI-E sound card and a USB 3.0 card that I had lying around. It's been working perfectly as my daily driver, and it looks impressive, too.

    I think your setup is pretty good! I have a R7 1700, 12 gigabytes of RAM because at the time 4 gigabytes of DDR4 was like $25 and it was on sale for $18. I also have an RX580 8 gigabyte and an MSI X370 motherboard! I can finally stop complaining about having a GTX 960 2GB, or my GT240 from before that. First AMD card I've owned and I quite enjoy it. Anyways I'm rambling, but awesome setup, also Dave and his family better be getting themselves a PC soon. XD

    I have a windows 8 laptop, with an amd a10 5750m apu with dual radeon chips HD 7600M and HD 8650G, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, a built in beats speaker and i use a steelseries rival 200 for my mouse. I run CSGO at around 80fps but with extreme variations on the lowest possible settings, I also edit videos on DaVinci Resolve which is the worst because the render times are greater than my battery life and it always overheats. Soon buying an r3 2200g, gtx 1050ti setup from pcspecialist to replace this.

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Davinci can use GPU acceleration, but you can't use multi-GPU without the $900 version to unlock that (so the APU graphics will be useless). It should run a lot better though, its always been pretty slow even on the 6700k and GTX 1080, and at the time my Ryzen 1700 and 2x Fury (though only 1 could be used). So I can imagine it was a total pain waiting on a laptop to render it, and I can definitely see why it could drain a battery before it was done. You'll have a much better experience with the upgrade, and it sounds like a good combo. Have fun!

    If you need a decent case, I would recommend the Coolermaster Master Box 5. About a year ago, I was gonna get an NZXT S340 for my R7 1700 build, but Amazon sold out and settled for this. So far, it's a really straightforward case with good cable management, the HDD cages can be removed/adjusted and comes with SSD brackets which can be hidden behind the motherboard.
    Rest of the build is as follows:
    CPU: Ryzen 1700 @ 3.0Ghz /w Wraith Spire Cooler (Plan to O/C to around 3.5/3.6Ghz in the future)
    RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000Ghz DDR4
    GPU: EVGA nVidia GeForce 1070Ti
    SSD/HDD: 2TB WD Green & 250GB SanDisk SSD Plus
    PSU: 750W SuperNOVA G2 /w 80+ Gold

    I run an 11 year old Core2Quad Q6600 using the tape mod you featured a while back to bump the clock from 2.4 to 3.0Ghz on all 4 cores. I use OEM boards as they're easy to find in the LGA775 formfactor once they quit. CPU+MB cost $30 total.
    They're paired with 8GB (4x2GB) of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM ($40) and a GTX 1050ti OC edition from Zotac (got it onsale for $165 2 years ago). Literally any PSU from any junk PC will power this set, so that's $0.
    I also threw in a 240GB SSD from Kingston ($65) and 2 700GB HDDs I had lying around in Raid 1 just incase one craps out.
    Total price: $300 Canadian ($230 USD), I play at 5760x1080 (3 monitors) it runs all the new AAA titles on Medium-High with Medium-Low particle settings due to the aged CPU.
    Check it out on PCPartPicker

      Techie Pocket Yup. If you plan on gaming at 60-100 fps (120 in some games and way above for less intensive titles like overwatch), it's an amazing cpu. It's absolute value for avg fps would be around 110 (which is the cutoff point for when it starts to bottleneck a gpu) all current games considered.

    Ryzen 3 1200 with a 1050Ti and 8GB of 2133 OC'd to 2666, plugged into an ASRock AB350M for me. I got the CPU, GPU, motherboard, and RAM used, carried my 1TB mechanical hard drive over from my last build, and I also have a 240GB SanDisk SSD Plus SSD all inside the Deepcool Tesseract WH with an EVGA 600BQ. Semi-modular for the win! As far as fans, I've got 5 Corsair AF120 white LED fans, and an SP fan behind the drive cage running into a fan controller I can't remember the name of off the top of my head.

    Nice video mate, I really love your content !
    For the setup I won't give you the configuration of my main PC, but the configuration of the PC I recently restored and can handle games pretty well despite its age !
    For the case I bought a Bitfenix Nova Black, it's clean, decent and cheap. I found a Core 2 Quad Q9550S at a reasonable price on eBay with an Intel ITX motherboard (which I used for an Elementary OS project, with a Core 2 Duo E8500 and 4Gb of DDR3 memory) with onboard graphics and a couple of SATA cables from FOXCONN for around 60€ (52,40£). Mainly I bought it for the processor as far as I already got a motherboard and a graphics card. I overclocked the processor to a safe & stable 3.35GHz (it scores 351cb in CineBench R15). Speaking of the motherboard I use a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4 which is a hell of a motherboard and cost around 250€ (219,20£) brand new. I put 8Gb of 800MHz DDR2 RAM (4*2Gb) from G.Skill (G.Skill PK Series). For the graphics card I have a Radeon HD5850 1Gb from MSI which I cleaned and restored (because it was in a pretty bad state), and to power this up a Corsair VS550.
    I'm planning to use an 128Gb SSD as a boot drive and I want to upgrade the RAM because they are really limiting the speed of the PC under W10. I'm currently looking for four sticks of 2Gb of Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066MHz to improve the performances.
    Basically it runs GTAV with everything in medium in DX10 mode with a little bit of stuttering and sometimes the map takes a few seconds to load completely, but it's defenetely playable (aroud 30 to 50 fps depending on where you are, 1Gb VRAM is limiting too).
