As a Minnesotan, and MN fan, this is hilarious. We don't get many wins in our sports/athletic endeavours, so when we get them, whichever way it may be, we have to enjoy them lol
I mean, the Gophers are in a good era for athletics the past few years. Football has been better under Fleck. We suck at basketball, but hockey is still great, volleyball is good, and we had the greatest heavyweight wrestler in the world in his prime for a few years
On behalf of the decent and honorable citizens of the Great State of Iowa, we would like to extend to you our sincerest apology for existence of Hok fans in all of their insufferable forms.
@@WoodburyWrestlingExactly. It was clearly an illegal arm motion. But group-delusion is real. And Ferentz knows it...he actually said it was a normal running motion.
@@WoodburyWrestlingexcept it really wasn’t. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been speeding one mph over the speed limit? Did you get a ticket? Why not? Because even when something is ‘in the books’ it doesn’t get enforced ever. You can read the rule all you want. The point of the rule is so that one team doesn’t get an unfair advantage over another team. Did any players on Minnesota slow up because cooper was waving people away from the ball? No they didn’t. Why? Because nobody on that defense thought he was waiving for a fair catch. No referees (one of which MUST watch the punt returner, its literally his job) said that he made an illegal signal during the play. Just some lone loser probably from Minnesota that was sitting in a replay booth figuring out how he can salvage the loss for Minnesota. I’m 50 plus years old. I’ve watched football both college and NFL for as long as I can remember. I have NEVER and I do mean NEVER seen this call made in the manner it was made. As a matter of fact I know of two other games that I watched the same day where the returner waived off his guys then fielded the ball and advanced it. Guess what…no flags. Because that is what a real ref decides, did this give them an unfair advantage? No, then it isn’t a penalty.
Ty you make valid points about the QB situation at Iowa. Plus the fact that the Hawkeyes got hosed at Kinnick how the nlue hell does that happen piss poor officiating crew
If it’s a rule then the ref who said he fair catched needs to blow his whistle. Like Kirk said how did we go from point A to point B? And point B is a non reviewable play?
@@PatrickSmith-xd2fl Fellas, it wasn't called a fair catch, it was called an invalid signal. Any waving hand motion makes it a dead ball once either team touches it.
50 thousand people came to PMS today to hear what Ty was gon say about that crap hole of a football game and it DID NOT disappoint. LUH YOU TY !!! WHAAAA !!!!
As a die hard Iowa Fan for my entire life, I agree Ty.... How does a team with a Legit top 5 D and Top 5 Special Teams seem to get WORSE on offense when they were 2nd to last LAST YEAR. This contract for Brian Ferentz seems to be almost making the people play worse to get a better coach in his place..... Also why dont yall go on the Road to an Iowa game a Year. I AM SURE IOWA WOULD WELCOME THE BOYS WITH OPEN ARMS, both the state and the school.
Nah by rule any waving signal constitutes an invalid fair catch. People are mistaken in calling it a fair catch because it wasn’t. But with an invalid fair catch, meaning the waving motion, that means the play is automatically dead once he touches the ball. The rule is in place so returners can’t trick the coverage team with a wave that’s not technically a fair catch. So no matter how much you hate it or think it didn’t affect the play, it doesn’t matter it’s the right call. So maybe you should be mad at the returner for having a waving motion when he didn’t want to call a fair catch, or maybe the offense for not being able to move the ball against a not so great defense, but you can’t be mad at the refs for making the right call.
Let's not forget that Tim O'Dey is also the same referee who got the call wrong last year in the Iowa vs. Minnesota game when he blew dead Iowa's game winning INT return. Hawks still won that game, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he got the call very wrong. Tim O'Dey was also the head of the officiating crew that was suspended for incorrectly awarding Central Michigan an untimed down against Oklahoma State that allowed Central Michigan to win the game. I don't understand how a guy who has a history of making poor calls in MASSIVE moments can continue to be the head of officiating crews like that.
The refs also said that the replays of the catch were all inconclusive from the ground level cameras, but when they looked at the aerial view they decided it was invalid. For who?? The Michigan players parachuting in to the stadium? If it was inconclusive, why did you call anything???
I wish Ty was on the press corps that go to pressers. Have him drop those truth bombs on Kirk. How did Brian not get any attention though? He's the one responsible for coaching and playing these QBs. Hill should be an Olineman.
My buddy made some good points about Brian Ferentz today, the guy played center in college and the nfl. Went on to coach TEs for the Patriots where he coached one of the greatest TE of all time, Rob Gronkowski. So basically he did very little coaching in that regard. Then the guy comes in and becomes not only the OC but THE QBs COACH! Why is this man coaching QBs? He has almost no experience with position players. I loved the guy when he was a player for Iowa but it’s time to move on ffs!
Incredible melt-dahn! Top 10, coherent and concise fury, love it… It was a lose lose game for the world, either Iowa wins and wins the big10 west to get into the title game and get SMASHED or Minnesota wins and everyone has to listen to PJ Fleck.
I looooooove the Iowa tears. It was the correct call on the punt return. Can't even get the facts right. It was ruled an ILLEGAL fair catch signal meaning the defense can't get in trouble for trying to tackle the guy.
I don’t know… I think the issue isn’t it being a fair catch signal, it’s making an “illegal Fair Catch” signal, which DOESN’T get a “Fair Catch” indicator by the Ref. The player definitely raised his arm to his shoulder level. But if the Ref standing RIGHT THERE, whose job it is to spot these signals, doesn’t think the movement is egregious enough to throw his flag, is it a foul? I guess the question is, can Refs call fouls they didn’t call on the field, when they review another foul? Because if the Ref standing 15 yards from the player making the signal, whose job it is to look for the signal, doesn’t see the foul, how is it a foul?
I hate Iowa but that was a terrible judgment call by the ref. By the actual rule it’s technically the right call but it shouldn’t of been called they didn’t call it on the field. However, getting screwed like this just emphasizes how desperate Iowa is to get bailed out by non offensive players to win games against bad teams. Minnesota has a deceiving record and has played terrible all year tbh. Iowa had no business not beating Minnesota by 14+ at home. I hope you can at least agree with that.
I don't know man. We were taught in small school high school not to waive your arm and instead yell fire. We all know what the returner meant but it is a penalty.
