It's a shame yeah. But admittedly, D&D is pretty well suited to dungeon diving, monster killing and treasure looting more than L5R. Hell that's all D&D really is, whereas L5R is a lot more complex. Still a shame. I hope they're simply waiting on some stuff BTS before releasing more L5R 5e
Hope to see some of you at GenCon in the L5R area. My team did the work on the River of Gold game along with Keith P. the designer. It feels SO GOOD to be working on L5R again (my team ran the CCG back when I worked at WotC). L5R has really stuck with me more than any property I've ever worked on and/or been a fan of.
No non DND l5r announcement? I'm a bit disappointed after all the clan war hyped at the start of the video. It seems it will be relegated to board games and novels. It's nice but I hoped for a full adventure path for the RPG to compliment it. 😔

@@nlp3000 since he wants to go back to it, presumably he means the d10 pool based version of AEG. Classic pass/fail, with the keep portion almost entirely being "keep highest". But apart from the dice, I don't wanna go back to the bloated skill list, the lack of social conflict rules or the lack of meaningful techniques for non-casters.

Frankly, none of the people who are going to buy into Adventures in Rokugan are watching this announcement video in the first place. It does deserve its line in the list in a marketing video showing off everything under the IP that's in the pipeline, but it feels tone-deaf at best to spin it as "You don't need to worry if you're not bought into the L5R RPG," especially with absolutely nothing to offer all of us who *are* bought in. Onboarding fresh blood is important in every hobby, and things like statues and wall scrolls are vital in fandom spaces, but you've announced ten projects here and not a single one is addressed to your core audience in a way that meaningfully engages the hobby itself. Bragging about the katana you won at the Day of Thunder to thousands of people who will never get their own Day of Thunder is in extremely poor taste.
It is highly disappointing that a L5R major release video doesn't have any information about new L5R 5th ed rpg content. Checking the content at gencon shows that L5R 5th edition is far more played than AiR at the convention level.
If this doesn't involve the L5R RPG, I'm just not interested. "Adventures in Rokugan" just isn't Rokugan and I'm seriously disappointed with it. I've actually stepped away from D&D and this is so sad to see them only focusing on that.
Its sad I agree, but dont fret too much! We have what we have for now and the more people we can get into l5r the better! I wish there were more online content about it.
Really enjoyed most of the announcements... So the adventure is good if you're not an L5R fan but not so good if you're an L5R fan who likes to play the L5R RPG? Or will it support both systems?
@@haetron tbh AiR is certainly a better fit for a dungeon crawling adventure like the Tomb of Iuchiban. I still have the 1st Edition boxed set in my RPG library though 😉
@@haetron AiR is basically a D&D 5e hack. The 3rd edition Rokugan stuff was bad enough. I really don't want D&D in my L5R (or vice versa). It would be awesome to see the promised Scorpion and Unicorn books for the FFG edition of the rpg.
@@nlp3000 After skiiming through the book I actually think that they put in a lot of effort into still making the adventureing rokugani work very well into the 5e ruleset, with a lot of creative ideas and new ways to play 5e. It could have been a lot worse.

I read the flaps for the first 2 Iuchiban novels. 2 different companies put out 2 different timelines for Iuchiban returning and of coarse my Clan the Unicorn Clan are involved. Iuchiban even body snatches two different Unicorn.

I love l5r to death, and hope the best for it. What you showed is cool and I was quite impressed with the prints, books, and board games. The one problem is is the hype for it with you two. You need a face that is neither of you. Need someone excited to show us that. Because you sound like droopy dog mono tone. I know you have passion for L5r my dragon clan brother, but you sound like you are reading a history book. The other guy afraid to speak at all barley spoke at. Plus no ccg that probably needs to be an app to get in the market. L5r power is it story and making you want to join a clan and wave their flag, and the power of the tournaments having in game story involvement was the coolest thing i have seen in any game not just a card game. Get a hype man make a us follow you.
Give us actual L5r content and stop ignoring it for the Adventures in Rokugan line. I know you're trying to appeal to a broader audience but you will alienate the ones who played for the fact that this WASN'T D&D. Don't kill something good just chasing the D&D crowd.
Why does everyone have to turn stuff into D&D? D&D is a great introduction to roleplaying but one of the attractions of most other games is they have better systems and better settings, but people are obsessed with translating their games into an inferior system. Okay, I know, it's the money. I guess I just feel a bit miffed at them thinking I should be excited about it. I love The One Ring roleplaying game and I couldn't give a toss about the Adventures in Middle Earth. The same is true of L5r. D&D already has a Rokugan of its own anyway.
FFG has proven that the LCG format works best only as Cooperative Campaign based games. SO, Asmodee & FFG, please tweak L5R LCG to be Cooperative Campaign based game, or re-release L5R as a TCG. Please.
