Right away you can hear the difference, the cream back is well balanced. Good choice on selecting the creamback celestion. No wonder players such jimmy Page, Eric Clapton prefer this celestion type.

Thank you for doing the work that many of us have been curious about. Would it be fair to say the difference between the two speakers is a matter of preference? Also, a quality that one player may appreciate, like earlier breakup, would not be preferable to a player who likes the cleanest possible tone at high volume levels. I’ve found that I can emulate many “new”tones by using a multi-band equalizer pedal. Lastly, many of the tones that I’ve chased after get lost in the mix, anyway. The best way to improve your tone will always be PRACTICE.

I prefer the jensen, it's not as harsh sounding.

I have a hand-wired 1964 spec Deluxe Reverb clone, and the Weber 12F150 I have in there now sounds much better than the Jensen (Italian) P12N, which sounded better than the C12R in there originally. Ted Weber was going after the original Chicago Jensen C12N sound, but his 12F150 is louder with more bass, the original is expensive but he always said they were the best.

Best to take the chassis out first. Up to a few years ago, most Celestions had only FOUR mounting holes, when Fender had EIGHT mounting bolts. They finally figured it out. You have to be careful mounting that speaker over those bolts ... easy to poke a whole in the surround.

I love the G12H30 Anniversary in my Custom DR. I'm tempted to try the NeoCreamback to make it lighter but I'm worried I won't like it the same. Thanks for the video!

my black marlin vintage tube set for blackface amps:
    v1 (normal channel preamp) : mullard i63
v2 (vibrato channel preamp) : GE 12ax7 wa
this set fits all guitars from jazz to rock, the normal channel will have a low mid boost and softened highs so it's better for single coils ,bright guitars and drive. the vibrato channel is scooped clear and crisp so better for cleans with p90's and humbuckers.
    enjoy!

First, thanks for the demo. It was very helpful. At which point (volume knob) did the Celestion break up? I have the Sweetwater version and it comes with the Jensen P12-Q which starts breaking up at 4 with a humbucker. I like the Jensen but I am thinking I want a new speaker (maybe in an extension cab) for more headroom.

Mine starts to break up with humbuckers around 5 with the celestion (depends on which humbucker also)

did you loop the guitar part through a pedal so it's the exact same for both speakers?

Hi Is it a lot lighter?

Whatever difference there is (questionable as to improvement), I'd much sooner buy a pedal or a set of pickups or save it for my 'guitar tech fees fund'.

For whatever its worth, now the speaker has broken in, there is a definite big difference and if i were to buy another Deluxe Reverb, that would be the first thing i change
