- First performed in Alexander's Feast at Covent
Garden (19.2.1736)
these six concertos, four (HWV 290-93) were composed for Handel himself to play
during the intervals of his oratorio performances in March-April 1735,
the remaining two (HWV 289, 294) for performance during his Dryden ode,
Alexander's Feast or thePower of Music (HWV 75), in February-March 1736
Haendel +Richter une combinaison prestigieuse et heureuse !Que du bonheur et de la joie à l'écoute de ces deux artistes!Et quel orchestre de talent!
The second movement to me is one of the most beautiful and sweetest movements in the whole repertoire. The way the the organist interacts with the soloist is perfect. Bravo Richter. Bravo Munich Bach orchestra.
Yes!
This concerto for its greatness and thematic development reminds me of Beethoven and romantic composers. The concert op 7 no1 and op 7 no3 also give me that feeling. Händel was sometimes ahead of his time.
Händel + Richter = Perfection
Perfection like you have never seen. Such an incredible symbiosis of talent.
One of the greatest keyboard artists who ever lived. Karl Richter 1926-1981.
What about Haendel himself?
Never found a better playing or recording of this piece!!
Музика Гянделя великолепная чудомузика -шедевральная,исполнили ейо отлично!!!! Александр Одессит
I love this old-school-old style orchestra. Everything very conservative and academic: starting from dresses and ending with performance.
Great composer, great rendition, excellent sound 50 years after performance!
Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, HWV 289, Op. 4 No. 1:
00:00 Larghetto e staccato
05:15 Allegro
10:38 Adagio
11:50 Andante
Karl Richter is the world's greatest organist of all time. He died in 1981 aged 54. Such an incredible talent from this humble and self effacing man. A true genius.
I’d venture to say that Handel himself likely was an even better organist. From what we know, he was an astounding master virtuoso on both organ and harpsichord. It sealed his fame in Italy when very young.
@@MusicdokAnd Bach!
The first movement is almost Romantic in its raw emotional expression
Absolutely. I've always thought the same. The first movement for its greatness and thematic development reminds me of Beethoven and romantic composers. The concerto op 7 no1 and op 7 no 3 also give me that feeling. Händel was sometimes ahead of his time
Is it possible that Richter makes it sounds like Romantic?
This sounds like God coming to me saying: "repent your sins, my child"
K. RICHTER magistral !
The greatest organist of all time.
Espectacular interpretación para una música sublime!!!
0:34 SPITTING SOME ABSOLUTE FIRE

Is this rendition in the spirit of Haendel? I'm wondering.
One dislike by JS Bach
Ibr S. no I'm sure that bach loved this concerti because Bach was very "proud"of Händel in fact he wants to meet he when he went to germany but Händel don't want to meet he . I'm so sorry for my bad english . good bye
Then who disliked this, Vivaldi perhaps?
Ibr S. probably yes
lol
Isaac Newton
What is the name of the harpsichordist at 9:30?
Could be Hedwig Bilgram (*1933), she must have been around 40 when the concert was recorded. She used to play with Karl Richter (her teacher) a lot.

I prefer the version played by the Swiss Conductor Ernest Ansermet and Jeanne Demessieux at the organ
Dvorak
IT IS SPELLED HANDEL
No, Händel.
The playing is great but the recording is too bad. It's a pity. Greetings from México.
Look at the german standard back then … and now ….
