    It is nothing short of amazing. You have a serious gift and your aim so far absolutely noble : to help those of us studying medicine, health, vet, etc to understand these subjects matter more rapidly, and visually. I Dont know if you've got any spiritual inclination but if you do rest assured God will bless the work of your hands. Thanks.

    Thank you thank you thank you so much! I was assigned to learn about the endocrine system last week in my 2nd level anatomy class, and now my first test will be this Tuesday. But this was one of the best videos I have come upon after many days of looking and confusion for this system. You have made learning about this system very engaging, easy to understand, and just what I needed to learn. Continue to share your gifts of teaching to all who need it most! Again thank you, me (plus many other students) really appreciate your efforts!

    14:15 calcitriol is active form of vitamin d in body so we take vitamin d in form of cholecalciferol while it needs to be hydrooxylated twice within the body first by liver to 25 HYD Roxy cholecalciferol and then by an enzyme named 1-hydroxylase (which causes hydroxylation at position 1) present in kidney to its ultimate active form called 1,25dihydroxycholecalciferol or simply calcitriol(active form of Vitamin D in human body which will regulate serum Ca and phosphate levels i.e, if serum Ca levels r declining it will act on enterocytes/intestinal cells to make a protein called calbindin to absorb more Ca through diet into bloodstream or will cause bone resorption to release Ca from bones into the blood and vice versa

    Not technically right for Type 2 Diabetes: insulin resistance initially means you have high insulin levels along with high glucose levels. The insulin isn't having the desired effect because of the receptor insensitivity. Then eventually after years of uncontrolled DMII your pancreatic beta cells get destroyed from working so hard to increase insulin secretion, and you end up with low insulin levels. The levels change over time. At least that was how I understood it from my endo course...

    • @superadders19
      @superadders19 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes totally agree. That would be one slight inaccuracy in what is otherwise an excellent video. Hyperinsulinemia is common in the early stages of type 2 diabetes due to excess insulin production in the body's attempt to counteract high insulin resistance.

    Pro tip (for windows users): At the end of the video, press start button on keyboard and search for snipping tool. Then simply "snip" the final image and save to files for future studying. Essentially, you're taking a screenshot and making it accessible for printing. I just did it and I'm super excited about it so I thought I'd share for those who didn't know! :)

    I have seen so much talent, so much brilliance, and so much NOBILITY in medicine that it truly humbles me as a non-doctor who's been lucky enough to see deeply into the medical world. The sort of long, long hours of selfless dedication that I have seen by BRILLIANT individuals who could have, but didn't, use their brilliance for selfish and self-indulgent ends is something that I wish was more widely known in the general public. Armando is a beautiful example -- look how much talent, intelligence, and education the man has -- truly, a gifted man, from the elite level of wide-spectrum giftedness, and what does he do with it all? He dedicates himself to being a doctor, and in his spare time, he gives us these absolutely excellent teaching videos. Thank you, Armando! Many, many thank you's for all that you so unselfishly, so generously, and so brilliantly do! You are both humbling and inspiring to the rest of us (and we need it, need it big time). I wish the NOBILITY of doctors like you was more well-known -- it would help some people to wake up and straighten out in life. Thank you, Doctor! You're a good, good man!

    First things first- This is possibly the best way to start with Endocrinology considering that it's a pretty vast topic and is equally important to be understood. Thank you so much!!
    And those of you wondering about calcitriol, it's also known as 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol which is the active form of vitamin D and is mainly involved in Ca2+ homeostasis. It increases calcium absorption from the intestine, bone resorption and increases calcium and phosphate reabsorption from renal tubules when calcium levels decrease.
