Great episodes. Miss your weekly pods, but I know they'll be back soon enough! Re: Canada, just an update - they're not pulling funding generally, it's just for the coaches suspended. Essentially, not paying them for the next year/again since I assume they'll be fired. Appreciate your discussion on it. It's been an embarrassing time for our country/program and many mixed emotions. Hope you're enjoying the break ❤

Hello Rachel and Sophie. Great analysis as always. Good to see you looking refreshed and smiling. I finally watched this after all the US videos I watched, after commenting all season on US channels about Emma Hayes potential impact. It feels like the last season is still going and the new one is already here. How are the players meant to feel as ready for it as you both looked?

Interesting comments about how we question England. I think we have a tendency as a nation to expect nothing less than domination from the Lionesses. So many people say we haven't played well since the Euros, but we didn't dominate every game even then, so it doesn't make sense to me. I also think the England team suffers from 'player FC' a bit - a lot of people have very strong feelings about player A or B, and they have become such big names as individuals both on and off the pitch that people are affronted by perceived slights to their favourite.

Julie Foudy said it best -Matildas will flounder without Sam Kerr. Also they don’t have the endurance to last the number of games in over a short period. In terms of stagnation, the coach seems to have the same traits as another Swede, Jonas Eidevall, in that he is not a tactician. Heyman should have started in both Germany and Zambian games.

The Matildas have had 14 consecutive sold out home games. They have become used to player in front of packed stadiums. I love the Matildas but they have not performed as well as they could have and now they are out of the Olympics. But I'm wondering if there are a lot of players on both the Matildas and the other teams in the Olympics carrying injuries because of the amount of games scheduled in a year. Does FIFA need to be held accountable for their Greed?
