My half lease OTTB and I didn't ride for a week and some bad habits came back 😳

  • It's like getting on a bicycle, except the bicycle is a baby with PTSD and is wearing a noseband for the first time.
    What could go wrong??
Well, honestly, there's a wee bit of clickbait in this (although that thumbnail moment was very real) because at least SHE did fantastically considering she hadn't been ridden in a week either and she's a baby. Me? I was sick all week and have menopause brain but I mean, get your shiz together woman.
Do I or don't I? Watch and see!
As always, thanks for following along on my weird, wacky horsey journey. I so appreciate you!

Wow those mountains are gorgeous. I'm in NY too but the ones at my barn are much smaller.

Remember to breathe. Relax. I always found thinking too much got in the way of the moment. Very well done!

Oh absolutely! I always need a reminder to breathe. 😵‍💫🤣 I’ve been taking a lot of yoga to get in better habits. Definitely helps!

She has a vet checked and monitored injury on her rear left from several years prior to her coming to the barn that leaves her intermittently short strided.

She kinda looks sore footed in some of those trots. Has she been checked for soundness? I can’t remember if you said if she had issues.

There are a lot of rocks in that arena that catch her on occasion. Her owner is considering front shoes. She has been checked for soundness. (She also has a host of vet monitored issues but I’ll spare you.)

Vet actually did a full work up last week (this video is about two weeks old). X rays of front show nothing, hoof test showed nothing, lameness exam also nothing. The general consensus is : the rocks in the arena (which are primarily at one particular end, and it’s an issue I’m working on but I’m only one person with limited funds at a facility I do not own) and being ridden slightly too much on the forehand. The vet said I could use boots 😎 the farrier said she has some of the nicest feet she’s seen on an OTTB. Also said I could use boots if I felt I needed to. When I ride her, I feel nothing and watching videos of me on her I hardly see anything 😊

Apart from her looking lame at times and short striding, maybe some eggbar shoes could give her some support, apart from that she looks very well and beautiful

She got wrapped up in electric fencing before she got abandoned on me. Almost had to be put down (allegedly). You can see some short striding due to the scar tissues at times (at least that’s that the vet said 😌)
