My uncle been struggling with this. For more than a year. I bought a leg compression machine. Have been using for 3 days and can say im seeing improvement. On his leg that has the wound. Its actually healing. The other leg. The discoloration is going away. We got that before it got worse. Just buy the leg compression machine. It really works
Your explanation is absolutely great. And thank you for adding the written commentary . I’ve copied for my father who is not tech savvy. You really have helped me, I’m 8n the UK now…. So I appreciate your complete instructions.
I watched so many vedio that helped this problem but nothing help. It's been twenty full years dealing with this thing and only one year of covid I get rest.. What I notice is that ulcers need attention, you must clean the wound thoroughly, make sure you cover the wound with compression dressing. The patient make sure all the time elevate the leg. Never use alcohol till the wound healed. That's when I saw that no matter how much you treat that wound as long patient use alcohol really the wound won't heal. heal.
My husband has had an open leg ulcer for almost 3yrs now on his upper ankle the size of a golf ball & an ulcer on the bottom of his foot for about 4yrs. He did have open ulcers from both knees down to his ankles but now like I said it's down to the size of a golf ball. It doesn't weep as much as it did when he had it from knees to foot. The doctor's want to do a "vein closure" so the ulcers will heal & amputate part of his foot. There wanting to amputate then the closure. I think the closure should come first. I respect your opinion & would like to know what you think?
Thank you so much for this information. This ulcer appeared on my ankle about 10 years ago, I have been to several doctors and did not receive a definitive answer from not one of them. They absolutely did not have a diagnosis for this problem. Now all these years later I stumble up on a video that speaks exactly to my issue. I am relieved to at least know what it is and perhaps the cause. By the way it is sensitive only when pressure is applied otherwise it doesn't bother me. No open wound or linking of any substance. It just looks ugly on my ankle. Again thank you so much for this interesting and informative video!
This is so frustrating! I get more answers frome this wonderful video then 2 months of doctors. I get no explanation or anything! I've had the ulcers 2 months and I'm just now being referred to a vascular specialist!😢😢😷🤕
I know the feeling! I've had 2 leg ulcers in the past 5 months, the newest one healed, and I only use a Mepilex Border, a compression liner, and Ready Wrap compression prosthetic on my leg now. The other leg (most troublesome) I've had for nearly six months! It gets wrapped every Tuesday, and Friday with Profore WCL. I've seen the ultrasound technicians, and they've found a lot of "nests" in my veins. They're talking about the surgeon using a "hot" wire to seal the regurgitating valves. The surgeon is only available on Wednesdays. Hope this works! A friend told me to buy some Curad Silver Solution First Aid Microbial Gel, her father's diabetic, and it helps his ulcers heal faster (she said). It's around $6.00 USD, in the US. Good luck to you all.

Will a heat lamp work for healing these? I have poor circulation in my left leg especially because of a DVT blood clot, but the wounds I’ve had such as minor cuts and bruises just never healed it’s probably been 10 years now and my doctor says to wear compression stockings. Compression socks are expensive (I was fitted for custom stockings) and way too hot in the summer. I was on Medicaid at that time so they were willing to eat the cost of a single pair. I believe they were made from nylon and they don’t let fresh air in. I live in the south and it’s too hot right now for those stockings. Mine are mostly about 1/8” in diameter but there’s clusters of them. About the size of a baseball.

didn't have a problem with my ankles until I was released from the hospital due to stomach tumor non cancerous surgery...I believe the hospital gave me the vax when I was out of it...didn't tell me... they said I had no choice but to take blood thinners...
The VeinCare Centre, I have an ulcer caused by varicose veins n I get a lot of pain. in the Trinidad hospital, they recommended I strip the veins n pull it out, I didn't get it done because I wasn't sure if I will be able to walk again. if I soak my feet with salt water will it stop the scratching of the ulcer
Having veins in legs removed will not keep you from walking! You will walk out of doctors office! But there are other ways, better, less expensive and less care than stripping. But you must change your diet. Cutting out breads and sugars help in the long run or at least cutting back!
My mother is 97, and has had leg ulcers for 4 months, the NHS are slower than a snail. Apart from leg ulcers just above the ankle, she also has severe varicose eczema. I am sorry to hear of your concerns. It can be very difficult to distinguish infection from colonisation. All open wounds will have bacteria, even normal skin has bacteria - called skin flora. A healthcare professional can advise. In general, an infection will cause pain, redness and a discharge. The person who is affected may feel unwell, with a fever, tiredness and will lose his/her appetite. A HCP will perform a physical examination, do blood tests, swab the area etc. These comments are not meant to be professional advice. If you or the person affected is concerned, a face to face consultation and examination is required.
