Almost every reactor makes fun of the first science class scene (when the fan blows Bella’s hair,) but Pattinson is actually doing the book justice here. Edward has lived among humans for a very long time, but the scent of Bella’s blood is stronger than any he has ever known, and different from other humans. As the fan blows her scent in his direction he’s a bit stunned and the book reveals that he is doing 3 things at once. 1. Trying not to inhale her scent after the initial fan assisted blast (this is why he instantly covers his mouth and nose) 2. His is mouth is filling with venom, which is why he does that awkward swallow 3. He’s trying VERY HARD to keep himself in check, and for the full duration of the class he is thinking through multiple scenarios of how to kill her, which would also require that he then kill the whole class, as they are witnesses. (Hence the menacing look he gives her.) Time is super compressed for the film. It’s about 2 months before he really starts to interact with her. The cafeteria scene where she drops the apple and he bounces it into his hands is a direct reference to the book cover. The cover shows two hands holding an apple exactly as he does in that scene.
To be fair time is fucked in the entire book series. It spans over TWO YEARS. That's it. She meets him get married and has his kid and gets turned into a vamp within 2 years. That's insane and incrediblely toxic... But also extremely mormon. So makes sense, I guess.

If you’ve dated someone for a year and a half/two years & want to get married, that strikes me as pretty normal. How long do you think people should date before getting married? Also, remember that the reason they had a child wasn’t because of choice & it also developed in like a month, so it wasn’t a normal process of wanting a child, working to conceive one & then carrying it for nine months. I just don’t see how dating someone for 2 years, then getting married is either particularly toxic or Mormon. And before you ask, I’m an atheist, I dislike religion & while I enjoy the movies, they certainly don’t portray any kind of relationship I’d ever want to be in, nor even see a person I didn’t like be in either. I recently watched the whole series for the first time with my friend and I can honestly say that it was one of the most fun movie watching experiences I’ve ever had. They’re silly movies and almost impossible to take seriously, but kind of addicting.

Yesss, I love myself a good Twilight reaction. Still going strong in 2021. It's always so funny how the movie chalks up the hammyness and weirdness to like _a thousand_ compared to the book. Like the book is still pretty weird but the movie is really something else haha. The vampire-reveal-scene must be the prime culprit of that. He drags her into the forest and screams at her to say what he is, while circling her like they're in a full-on Shakespeare play? In the book they were literally just in the car riding home from dinner and he was like "so, ya got any more theories on what I could be?" "Well, like a vampire maybe?" "Ah jeez you actually got it huh? This is bad." And while Bella and Edward are still pretty dang weird in the books, at least they're like _kinda_ cute together lol. Like they actually banter and joke and have some human interaction beside staring at each other in pained expressions. Still love the movie though. It's a supremely fun adaption and seeing everyone react to it might be even funnier. Who cares if something's "bad" or "cheesy" when you're having the time of your life watching it haha. Keep it up ^^

Without spoiling anything biting doesn’t automatically turn you or kill you. Turning is usually but not always intentional. Vampire have to be invited into your home. They have cool powers. There are other types of magical beings. There is a long history that is involved and that history directly affects the main cast of the present. The characters curse, have sex, do drugs, kill people, and die. Twilight has minimal world building or stakes. There are no major battles and none of the main characters die or fall out of love. If you don’t like Twilight, it has nothing to do with Vampire Diaries
The other films have WAY more action, I think you guys should defiantly continue watching because, in my opinion, the story defiantly gets better. The third one, Eclipse and the last one, Breaking Dawn Part 2, are the ones I think you'll like the best if action is what you wanna see, those have lots of it.

Eclpise, the 3rd movie has the best action sequences if you ever make it that far. It's also the best film in the series in my opinion. The next one, New Moon doesn't have much action but it's mostly about Jacob and Bella getting closer, there's a short fight scene near the end that I like though. I always liked their fight scenes and there's one or more in every movie. The fight scene in Breaking Dawnt Part 2 is the best though, it goes on for about 5 minutes. You should definitely finish the series if you can! Twilight always gets crap for being corny and cheesy but I think it has some strong points tbh.
Ah, yes. The phase Kristen Stewart went through where she decided bad acting was good acting despite being an actually good actress until she met Catherine Hardwick who convinced her that bad acting was good acting and unfortunately directed and helped cast this film.

Yessss 100000% on the pacing. The first movie they chopped out SO MANY scenes that were in the book that showed the growing feelings between Edward and Bella. And added unnecessary scenes like “say it. Say it out loud.” And the freaking “hold on tight spider money.” Those two scenes never happened in the books. Haaaaaaaate this movie.
