In this video I start the REVIEW for the Uber Impressive The Gryphon Diablo 300 High End Integrated HiFi Amplifier and this version also has a built in DAC.

In this video I set these scene of this review the Coronavirus COVID-19 Lock Down is in place in the UK its March 2020. Things are very doom and gloom out there and yet I am trying to stay positive and turn a negative into a positive and express my joy at spending time with such an awesome piece of HiFi equipment.
My Thanks go out to all the Key Workers in the NHS Police Force etc but that extends much further to all the critical shop workers, factory workers and delivery drivers / Royal Mail who are keeping us all going and semi normal while we are all stuck at home.

I also have the Diablo 300 which I've had now for 2 years and while I still like to 'chase the rainbow, ' so to speak, nothing I've heard yet has impressed me more! And that includes the Dan D'Agostino Integrated Amplifier ("Momentum"). And other offerings from such manufacturers as VAC, Mark Levinson 585, MacIntosh, and others. As you so aptly stated, the combination of power, control, transient speed, and slight warmness of sound sold me! And at 300W/per channel in 8 ohms this thing can push practically anything you throw at it! It cost about $18K USD without the DAC and my added DAC was about $6K more making the entire purchase price $24K USD. I have them hooked to my Focal Sopra No. 2 and my digital source is my Cambridge Audio Azur 851C CD Player running into my Chord M-Scaler connected to my Hugo TT2. I can listen to my system for hours (without fatigue which I was getting with other combinations, even the Gryphon Mojo S and Sonus Faber speakers). And even when I've heard speaker/components combos costing $250K and above I smile, but I am thoroughly satisfied with what took me about 3 years to complete. With very little "system envy."
You need to check Pilium Audio. ;) Trust me... (Better than Audio Note Kondo, that says a lot).
I've had my Diablo 300 for about 2 years now and it's got the DAC module, going into Gryphon Mojo speakers. The combination is brilliant and likely to be the last hifi I buy unless I win the lottery. The speed, depth and scale of the system is incredible. Bass even from these relatively small speakers is visceral. The amp is big and heavy but it doesn't get that hot although you do need to give it the recommended clearance to ensure good air circulation. Do not use this amp with a power conditioner. It's best with a dedicated power circuit. The DAC is wonderful and gives you 90% of the Kalliope which is £20k by itself. All music sounds great there is no need to worry about it favouring one genre or the other although listening to Autechre live is just incredible. The only critisicm is that upgrading the firmware is a real faff as it needs to go back to the dealer. Gryphon don't like unnecessary USB connections. Overall it's a high end audio bargain. You would need to spend £30 to £40k at least to significantly better it.

I found that my isotek qube made the sound a little more relaxed and improved detail compared to my dedicated power circuit.

I have yet to be in a room where every single person present was as uniformly blown away by an amplifier as when I first heard this beast. It ran circles around significantly more expensive pre/mono setups by McIntosh, Luxman and YBA that we'd also auditioned that day.

I know from experience that you won´t need the heating on in your listening room :-) I had the Diablo 300 but decided that tubes are from me. The inbuilt DAC is amazing!! I had a Mcintosh MA9000 before the Diablo 300, I found the Mc a bit slow and dull compared to the warmth and speed of the Diablo 300. ENJOY the Diablo 300 :-)

Nice vid cheers for the real world look at hifi nirvana. I like the fact you left the sticker on the Cristal glass haha :) I heard some Gryphon gear in a shop in Glasgow a few years ago and it freaked me out. Its a hifi cliche but it sounded and felt like the singer was in the room, you could walk around the singer in the sound stage! mental. Again cheers for the work and keep yourself safe.
The vocals and mid range are exceptional off this amp like no other amp I have had in here and the bass oh lord more on that soon :). Btw I am new to wine and the Mrs told me off for leaving the sticker on as well good spot!!

I'm sure it's amazing, but I would miss a volume knob.
Those Sanken BJTs are 230V 17Amp 200W each. I can also see the 0.15ohm current balancing resistors, since there are multiple BJTs on each channel for some big power.
Have to wonder if there's another four complementary O/P devices near the bottom of the heatsink because it's unlikely to be a quasi complementary O/P stage, plus the fact that it's rated at 950 W into 2 Ohms. Looking online there's a 2SC3264 (also Sanken) that's said to be the NPN version, that's some serious output current available.

Yes, you have to look into it. It also has cheap parts. WIMA capacitors and metal layer cheap resistors. No wonder.

I have a question. A lot of companies try to seperate the transformers in their products from the rest. I gues because of the noise. In this product it right beside other components. What is your opinion on that?
The transformer might be screened and toroidal transformers have a relatively low external field, lower than transformers that are made with E & I laminations.
How would you say it compares to a brand like Mark Levinson? You should try and review the Ethos CD player.
I will try and talk about this in the final review for it - its hard to totally compare without having all the amps here at the same time

@@tomhirschel8524 I would love to have access to 20 amplifiers at this level of course but it's not practical. However that is the reason I do recorded demonstrations because if what I say doesnt match the recording you can call me out. I think that is as honest I can get.
The Diablo 300 is by far the best one of the 3 no contest.

its nice but there aint 16000 dollars worth of stuff in that box. It's just silly
of course it's not. It's like with a Porsche - you will overpay for the brand, commercial and to the dealer if it's right out of the dealership, but after that you would have long lasting pure joy :) Gryphon is a good deal if you find it for 60-70 percent of the rrp and when you realize that you pay not for components inside the box but for countless hours of engineers work and knowledge that most of us simply don't have. :)
