Keep attention on Cobalt Volcano, because produce a lot of heat comparing with gold, but should works for a good time. Maybe add a metal tile below the drop of metal liquid to speed cooling.
For your gold volcano you could do a thermo sensor connected to a mechanical airlock to keep dupes out when the metal is above a certain temperature. That might need steel to not melt though.

Wonderful episode. Keep'em coming Side note: have you ever gotten Cuddle Pips? I accidentally made some for the first time (never saw them before) and they are wonderful. They plant seeds like regular pips, but they also Cuddle all eggs near them, immediately decreasing incubation time (whether in an incubator or on the floor). They also will hug your dupes, giving -5%stress per cycle buff. They eat 20%more than standard pip, however you can feed them thimble reed as well as Arbor trees and keep double the amount of cuddle pips in one space(giving the allowance for more eggs). ❤
By the way, you can use radiation as germ killer... I've used manually planted Wheezeworts to kill all slime and zombie spore, sometimes even through walls (specifically when trying to destroy zombie spores as I have respect from them).
Those plug slugs are overkill. With 1600W, you probably need like 2-3 of them to completely fill all your batteries. Having a full ranch room will just unnecessary deplete your metals. Tamed-hunger plug slugs still give you 400W, you can just move some of them out of the feeding room.
Diferent ways to do things i for instance almost never use critter sensors. I guess tempshift works if its touching the tiles not 100% sure but close to it.
@@NatanStarke true there are alot of different builds for critter ranching but for me its just easier to just read the room to keep the minimum critter count. temp shift doesnt work with debris in vacuum, only during the liquid phase when it drips down but once it solidify to debris then nothing. Similar to running pipes in vacuum, wont interact with buildings and debris
it really can be, especially late game. i enjoy it, but pretty much cant do it without following someone along like this guy. i make slightly different decisions on some things. like i never had the slime lung problem, i already know that volcano is never gonna feed 8 slugs, i have my eggs going into a very very slow death chamber for meat (fuckin plug slugs dont drown) and my dupes are way different from his.

@@KougaJ7 it's all a balancing act. More dupes equals more calories. No food an they starve. Starving and dead dupes gives the survivors the sads an then they get stressed and puke in your clean water or smash shit. They also need more oxygen and water, two very limited resources early on. Even when it all goes horribly wrong, and it will, it's fun cause the mayhem that follows is kind of hilarious
I know this is a super late comment But why arent you just making the volcano into a sauna? You vacumed it out, now you just need 200kg or more of steam in each tile plus 2 steam generators, and that'll be enough to cool the metal enough to be auto swept into the colony
The volcano overpressures at 150kg. But I mainly wanted to try out new things, I've come up with all sorts of methods to cool the volcanos, including the one you just mentioned. My worlds are quite unique from each other because of experiments like that.
why bother with long distance wiring? just make a mini plug slug ranch attached to the volcano tamer to power an autosweeper/temperature regulation system
They didn't fix it. They are getting up because they needed to eat and go to the bathroom. It's why you put down time first. Dupes will get up if hungry or need to pee. They will stay on down their whole time. So you are not saving anything. They do not work on downtime. Never have. They will sleep until they are 100%. If you have more sleep slots, they will stay in bed for those even if they get to 100%. Not sure why you're doing it that way. It doesn't work and it never has. Fun watch by the way.
yeah man, if they have nothing to do for socialization then they go right to work, even during downtime. thats why he has the printing pod blocked off, its the only source of socialization they have an when denied access to it they just go right to work after going to the bathroom and eating. pretty sure they patched it too so that dupes get up at the end of rest time, regardless of stamina amount. what you are saying was true a year ago, but times have changed

You can just have 1 or 2 in the ranch being fed too, huge energy, some hydro and uses for late game refined metals.

Cuddle Pip give you Dirt 12.5kg/cycle, Pip 20kg. Thats why Pip is better.

I have proven in this playthrough and in the One Dupe challenge that they work during downtime... I'm not sure why you keep claiming otherwise.
