- I've been planning lots of more professional videos (as professional as I get at least) but they just haven't come to fruition yet. Join me for this casual chatty catch up, brought to you by crazy rainy day hair and stress acne. I also taste test the best dice soup a toddler can make.
I'm working on McCall's 6298, which was gifted to me by my wonderful friend Michelle! I'm doing view C but altering it to be Pandy Paws for my niece's fifth birthday. So far it's going well!

It's so good to see you again! I'm so sorry about all those things all at once! I'm glad everyone's returning to a better place, and your machine will straighten up and fly right 😘 That apron looks like so much fun! Strangely, PandyPaws is a character that's not been mentioned by my granddaughters (but they could probably tell me volumes), who seemingly know every character known to humankind. I think Pandy Paws is from Gabby’s playhouse (dollhouse?). I could be totally wrong though. I just know that she constantly has pandy paws figurines and toys around 😂

I got it back, and then had issues again last night 😩 I’m going to trouble shoot again because it worked when I picked it up (I checked) so at this point it’s something I’m doing 🫣

I think the dice soup recipe is a family secret, but here’s a hint- the dice are also peppers and milk (very versatile ingredients).
It’s a great little pattern and it has made me so happy to make up one of the ones you sent!! I finished it last night so I’ll email you a picture of it in a little bit. It’s ADORABLE.
The machine situation has gotten even worse somehow, so I set it aside and I’m falling back in love with my old machine for now. I’m going to take mine to a Pfaff dealer when I go to TX next week. My local place services any brand, but at this point I just want to try somewhere new and a dealer makes me feel a little better.

I think it's funny that you've been working on a little apron, 'cause I may have been working on a big apron this week! Hi Erin. Wow…you have a lot happening. I’m sorry to hear about your family member and about Brady having a fever. It seems like when it rains it pours. I will be praying for you and your family. I hate when the machine doesn’t sew stretch fabric. I wish I had a suggestion for you. The apron is going to be adorable. I’m sure you’ve finished Pandy Paws but, a great way to do appliqué… I take fusible interfacing and sew with fusible side of interfacing to right side of the appliqué. Sew at 1/4 inch seam allowance. After your finished snip a small slit into the interfacing and turn the right side of the appliqué out. Then you can iron the appliqué down on your project and it stays in place while you sew. I hope that makes sense. Hang in there… I have been in situations where the outcome is unknown and it’s so stressful. ❤ Diann
It definitely feels like it was pouring but hopefully we’ll hit a bit of a dry season too, and my machine will get its act together 😂

Thank you for the suggestion for the appliqué! I haven’t been able to work on it since I filmed and I think I understand what you were explaining, so I’ll give that a try! It sounds like it finishes the edges of the appliqué really nicely

Hey Erin… sorry to have going on what you have going on… been in my own situation… I took forever to get back on track - still not 100% and it’s been 18 month.
You feel what you need to feel… it’s so hard to not. Ok so you be you. You feel you.

Thank you Stacey, we’re all kind of sitting in our sadness for now. Brady took her grandparents leaving REALLY hard this time and will wake up saying “really sad, Papa Dip not here” (Dip is her nickname for her grandma. No idea where it came from lol).
A friend told me that my machine might be telling me to work on something else so I might pull out some knitting once I get this apron made and just do that for a day or so. It’s so tempting to just keep fiddling with it though, like I’ll force it to work correctly 🙄
@@ErinSews yes kids are such sponges. My parents moved south to be near us when my Ex got posted here. And I’m so happy they did. My youngest had such a connection with my father, and my daughter was dad’s Apple (of course I was first). My eldest … well mum thought he was the best 🤣🤣 but it was good for both generations. It’s so nice that Papa Dip (cute) are very accommodating…but as you know I know what it’s like to be posted away from stability.
If your machine is sewing woven, it should sew stretch… but it’s in the shop now til this Wednesday right! Your pfaffs are good. And you only need it to be basic right.
Don’t forget you can overlock the seams on knit.

Amazon. Amazon has all of the things. I cancelled by Prime membership a few years back, but I bought these for dice games even further back, and wasn't doing much with them until the toddler found them in a cabinet. Now they are soup, peppers, milk, noodles....
I would love it if they moves closer, but it's such a commitment for them to make when we know we'll be moving again in a few years. I love that your kids had such involved and loving grandparents and it's wonderful that your parents were willing and able to uproot and be with you all. Being away from family is definitely hard.
How annoying to bring your machine for service and have to go back. It’s been a lot for you lately. Your niece is going to love that apron.
I guess the silver lining is that I’ve had a chance to fall in love with my old machine. I was kind of dreading sewing on it (I mean, cutting my own thread? Ugh) but it’s actually been really fun and has brought back lovely memories.

I got to walk with Christine for about 10 minutes, but it was wonderful! Thankfully we go to SC at least once a year, so I know we’ll be able to meet up again. I need to see her fabulous local sewing store- 5/8 Seams!
