What an incredibly vibrant version of this tune! He always attacked his own songs like they were not so sacred that they couldn't be reworked, and often to their betterment.
Me & my buddies were mostly into Southern Rock in the late 70's & early 80's. My roommate found a box of wet albums at work one day. We were able to get the Bowie album cleaned up, and we discovered "Ashes to Ashes". In the next couple of years, there wasn't a single party, where it wasn't in there with the Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet & A.B.B..
Bowie was the reason I got into vinyl and became a life long fan. That was 55 years ago and fuck me I miss him so much. It broke my heart when he left us and I play a Bowie song every day. First saw Ziggy in late 71 and he changed my life.
No one will ever come close to David Bowie. One of the only people, that I never met personally, where I cried when I found out he had left this Earth. I am sure he is happy back on his home planet. ❤
Love❤❤❤
Every recorded performance is like a precious gift, and this one is no exception. Thank you, David, for all the treasures you left behind for us. Love you. ❤
I've loved David Bowie all of my life. I'm a very proud fan of Bowie and have been for 56 years. I miss David, we lost him far too soon. Long Live David Bowie's legend, long live his incredible body of work, & long live David Bowie's memory. David Bowie Forever.
Yeah, I know how you feel. Even now, tears well listening to this and thinking on how much I miss him. There is no other like him, and never will be. A true legend. He was always my number 1 - I will always love Bowie ♥
I love and totally understand how you feel about David Bowie. I had the great honor of meeting David Bowie twice. I saw him live three times. Once in 1987, again in 1990, and the last time in 2004. They're great memories, and I also find tears welling up in my eyes at times when I listen to his music or even just thinking about my memories of him.David Bowie is a truly rare treasure. A man who's legend is so great that his legend has a legend. Long Live David Bowie's body of work and his truest hard core life long fans. It does the heart & soul good to know that David Bowie lives on in his work and in the hearts, souls, & memories of his many fans. Gotta Love David Bowie & of course we fans do love him.
Absolute legend! I miss Bowie so so much .. thank goodness for all the videos, records and clips to remember him by. Love you Bowie - always have - always will ♥
Legend ......... Prolific hit maker ..... Writer of classic and great songs all through his life ......... From pop star to rock God .........🎸🎹🎵🎶🎤 and more ..........
Bowie's albums from The Man Who Sold The World right through until Scary Monsters are both frighteningly brilliant and incredibly diverse. He barely stood still between records and created music that inspired countless generations of artists. His '80's output was something of a creative down turn although a commercial success. His return to grace left us with another run of albums that few can really touch. His loss was a terrible blow to millions of fans and still leaves a gaping hole in the music world. I am so glad I saw him in 1978, and regret all the times I did not see him.
80s Bowie = my fav era of his music. Also love how he brought back some of the 80s style in his final 2 albums decades later. So many great 80s & early 90s acts were great because they were inspired by Bowie....we still need his uniqueness when it comes to music! Dare to be tastefully unique & ground breaking....Lady Gaga wearing a meat suit to the awards show to be "different" is the pitiful state of modern attempts. Ughh.
Bowie is great but if you said that in his presence he would dismiss you as a silly, unserious person. Have you never heard of bach? Picasso? Michaelangelo? Dylan? Rodan? Bukowski? Edith Piaf? Do i need to go on? Are you stoned?
music died with lord Bowie, glad i saw him many times in concert and had a great chat with him once about london as he was missing it also i gave him a vhs, yes a vhs of a bbc show he did a very long time ago Baal in around 1982 as he never saw it. so my gift for him as he gave me many gifts throughout my life. RIP Sir David of Bowie. always missed but never forgotten
Everything he touches is excellent. Lyrically, musically just everything. If I could spend an hour with anyone ever it would be him. If you could what would you say?
What a performer! But what a band too! The drummer staying “behind” the beat just like Bonham, Gail sitting out bass on this one as she’s not fond of slapping! The overseeing genius of Mike Garson on keyboards. So pleased I could witness a band like this several times live!! Never to be repeated!!❤️
I don't know how, but as a huge music fan and seen many greats pass over, I was deeply affected by his passing. Such an amazing guy. Never really sold his soul and eternally cool. RIP David
Bowie the conjurer. Whatta performance, vox, fashion cut, that pomp. James Dean 2 a t !!! Whatta backline. G E., Carlos, on guitar. And the song selections, phenomenal !!!
One of the greatest road bands ever. Steely Dan were on the road around the same time and were also awesome. Great time to be alive . RIP Ziggy Stardust...
Miss him so much
yes, i am crying right now. i don’t want him to be gone.
I think we are a lot...
Me too 😭😭
😢❤❤❤❤ hes my favourite artist ever .
Il never get over it. His songs are always in my heart and he's in my heart forever xx
Mr. Magical Smile ... i live him
Bowie as immaculate and beautiful and stylish as ever.
What an incredibly vibrant version of this tune! He always attacked his own songs like they were not so sacred that they couldn't be reworked, and often to their betterment.
Best artist ever and ashes to ashes is one of my favorite songs. Thank you for posting! 🙏
Favorite of mine too and apparently Bowie too according to an interview I saw. When I heard him say so I felt somehow more connected.

you go all the way back to the very beginning of the Ziggy Iggy ⚡️

Same for me mate. I just couldn't understand why I was feeling genuinely sad. And I still am when I see him singing "I'm happy, hope you're happy too"
Every time I watch him, my mind can't comprehend he's no longer with us.
This song is my teenage soundtrack and one of my favorite songs of David Bowie. Miss him so bad.
A lone wolf never followed the crowd , perfected his craft 😢
How could one man be so talented? Bowie was unique his music will never die.
Drummer is the unsung hero here
Bass player right there with him bringing the funk groove!
Good old Ster - oh look at what Duran Duran won and lost.
Indeed, tha bass is not to shaby either....
The bass makes the finishing touch
Not only is Ronnie O’Sullivan a great snooker player but his bass playing is sublime!!!
Rerberto Carlos on drums.

Not my favourite version, but as I see him singing, I'm simply happy. I'm miss him so much...
1999-2000 were good years for bowie
what a class, what a band.... Bowie just visited Earth for a few years and went back home.
Absolute legend! I miss Bowie so so much .. thank goodness for all the videos, records and clips to remember him by. Love you Bowie - always have - always will ♥
what an amazing band
One of my favorite. RIP Mr Bowie. My modern life. 🙏
A unique voice. He was the définition of a classy pop star.
Legend ......... Prolific hit maker ..... Writer of classic and great songs all through his life ......... From pop star to rock God .........🎸🎹🎵🎶🎤 and more ..........
What it takes to imitate the art of The Spiders From Mars. Music by them and lyrics by David. Perfect combination ❤
Amazing ❤🔥
Please come back …😢

I thought this guy would live forever.
Unmistakable as David Bowie

David, RIP my Ziggy stardust ashes to ashes. We know major Tom is a junkie. Great memories 🎉
Such a beautiful song x
David was a lovely soul and a genuine person too, a great loss to our world for sure
These versions of ashes of this period and from the heathen period are the best... David, there's nothing left in the air... Since you're gone...
The greatest artist that has ever lived. Miss him so much
Bowie is great but if you said that in his presence he would dismiss you as a silly, unserious person.
Have you never heard of bach? Picasso? Michaelangelo? Dylan? Rodan? Bukowski? Edith Piaf?
Do i need to go on?
Are you stoned?
The biggest Star on the sky ❤️
Outstanding, thanks! 30+ years into his career and he still brought it. Great band as well, one of his other strong points!
The best in his field.
music died with lord Bowie, glad i saw him many times in concert and had a great chat with him once about london as he was missing it also i gave him a vhs, yes a vhs of a bbc show he did a very long time ago Baal in around 1982 as he never saw it. so my gift for him as he gave me many gifts throughout my life.

Gail Ann Dorsey 🔥🔥
One of the greatest and most versatile bassists of all time. Love her playing 😍😍 (even though she's on guitar here lol - see... versatile lol)
She wasn’t keen on slapping, so she used to pass on bass on this song!!

Gorgeous emerald green jacket!
He wore that after a costume change at Hammersmith Odeon 2002!!
Impeccable style as always!!
An otherworldly, beautiful melody.
Bowie is still alive.
I got a message from the action man.
He was/ is an extremely great artist, my absolute favourite.
Excellent Syncopated song with arpeggios notes 🎶 !!!
What is wonderful with Bowie is that you do not have to like his music to recognize he was one of the best.
Awesome clip - miss him always❤😢
I don't know how, but as a huge music fan and seen many greats pass over, I was deeply affected by his passing. Such an amazing guy. Never really sold his soul and eternally cool. RIP David
