It is shocking how people are saying this is a terrible win. Roberto Benigni in Life is Beautiful is one of the most powerful performances of all time.
The people saying that obviously never saw the movie. I can understand wanting another actor to win, and any of these actors would be just as deserving. But to say Benigni *didn't* deserve to win is ridiculous. I personally can't think of another living actor who could've pulled this role off (Chaplin could)
actually, even though I LOVE this film, I don't think he gives a particularly great performance. He just plays a character very similar to himself. That's not hard acting.

Ok!

Sei Italiano?siine fiero Cristo.

I honestly cried with happiness that this man got an oscar he deserves it not only for his performance but being an uplifting, good person.😭
MP BRUCK I completely agree with you. It's amazing how simple human things, like joy, becomes so rare nowadays. Many actors are able to picture the moment of joy, but when it comes to Oscar, the ceremony mummifies the emotions. Roberto is amazing in staying himself on screen and off screen.
The mere fact that his bows down to everybody shows what we have lost today. He feels gratitude and humble to receive an award for doing something he was born to do.

1:19 Benigni e Robin Williams, momento epico
😭
I'm happy Roberto won, he is so humble and talented.
1:20 One of the greatest moments in oscars history.
The best!

Well.sone

I used to mix up Helen hunt with Jodie foster..
And I thought I was the only one lol
Omg me too
thats who i thought it was at first
Jodie is an iconic Hollywood star since she was 12 on Taxi
Helen is a sitcom and comedy movies actress
I can’t believe what I just read
@@JimmySmash1998 those have nothing to do with it and maybe you wont agree but its cause of what their faces look like the 5 of us though hellen hunt looked like jodie foster there and i used to get tom sellek mixed up with burt reynolds
Ok!

Sei Italiano?siine fiero Cristo.

Bravo Roberto! You made all Italians proud! ❤️🇮🇹
i love this guy.
I'd like to translate this also in english " the greatness of Roberto's humility. when is acts whith his hands like he's saying " What have you done? Are you crazy to give the Oscar as Best Leading Actor to me?" Proud to be italian.
One of the best movies in the History of Cinema. Well deserved Roberto Benigni!!! Well deserved!
Such a great actor and a lovely person too
Ahahah c'hai ragione bro
pasquale davino vai nell'umido o nell'indifferenziata?
Probably the most honest and therefore BEST acceptance speech ever!
A mí me pareció horrible esa peli
Great actors, its just that Roberto´s performance was out of their league, simply beautiful.
"Life is beautiful" is one of my all time favourite movie,,, such a heart touching story n the performance is mond blowing ❤
its great how robin williams want to hug him xD
Sergen Yuce And not casually so either, you can tell by his body language he wanted 'in' on the energy and happiness that Roberto is feeling.
R.I.P. Geenie.
Bravissimo Benigni..a Genius and artist..people pulling faces thunking hes silly..hes very smart and highly educated in litratire, philosophy, languages and history..hes our national treasure and icon and should be protected at all costs..grazie Roberto.
Very well deserved! You Americans SHOULD watch the movie, then say this is unfair!
as an American who watched the movie I think this was well deserved he is am excellent actor and am excellent man. I love Roberto and wish more people shared his views on life
+Plutone the Americans didn't watch????? oh Jesus, Americans... The movie is woderful, I always cry
wonderful* and yes it is
StormGames ops, my bad hehe
I watched both 'Life is Beautiful' and 'American History X' and I'm sorry but Norton should've win best actor while 'Life is Beautiful' deserved best picture. They could've both walked away winners.
He's jus like his character in the movie, I Love Him! ♥
His performance in this movie was absolutely great! We was able to make people cry and laugh in this movie, hiding to his children in the film the tragedies and the horrors of the concentration camps. He's a wonderful actor and person!
Oh my gosh he deserved it so much. Life Is Beautiful is an amazing movie, and he wrote, directed, and starred in it. Beautiful.
"I don't deserve this.,. But I hope to win some other Oscars" ahahahahah
La vita e bella, what a great movie.
Saw it last night again, and compared to the garbage on the movie market right now it was like eating at home after spending 2 months in a McDonalds.
This guy makes me cry cause it recalls my memory of his greatest acting in the movie
Life is beautiful . Love him.
Ian McKellen and Edward Norton's reactions to him winning are so wholesome.
I cry whenever I see this video and then I see Robin Williams so happy shacking hands with Roberto, touching, two great amazing souls, and unfortunately one that ended up in such sad way
What an outstanding company of actors was nominated in 1999!
Roberto is a pure love, and he brings so much life and joy to the plastic Oscar ceremony.
He deserved this so much for making such an incredible movie.
Roberto is amazing, what a great soul. :)
The best of all! Go Italy!!!
While watching this video, I feel so proud to be Italian 🇮🇹
Robin Williams & Roberto Benigni ♥
00:59 Mckellen, Hanks and Norton reactions are great.
Mckellen is surprised and happy.
Hanks has a "wow" face
and Norton show happiness and admiration.
Pablo Canda true
This is an acknowledgment at how great actors they are... ;-)
Life is Beautiful is the most touching movie I ever watch.. Benito really deserve this award.. for superb acting.
Watching this and then the movie... Life indeed is beautiful Roberto. Thanks for the beautiful movie.
He truly deserved it that movie was amazing and his performance was so unique and beautiful. He’s such a happy amazing man
him: i don't know how to express my gratitude
also him: i would like to be jupiter to kidnap everybody and lay down in the firmament making love to everybody
Italians make the best lovers 😉
Headline: “Man charms audience by threatening to rape them.”
I didn't understand the Jupiter thing please explain
@@dhruvboghey3255 Jupiter is a God of the roman mythology (corresponding to greek mythology's Zeus). A recurring theme of these mythologies is that some gods really liked to kidnap people and make love to them (sometimes unconsensually, which constitutes rape)
@@texxxxxxxx Oh , cool , Thanks for looking my question and replying
My favorite thing to do when the Oscar is announced is observe how the nominees that lost react.
This one is particularly lovely because there’s a clear resounding reaction of “Oh man, if I had to lose, at least it was to him.” It’s just so wonderful how much everyone genuinely loved Roberto that night ❤️
Shocked but at least half-pleased he could win with foreign language acting.
Just saw the movie and I can’t breath. I cried so hardddd
The childlike excitement on Benigni’s face after hearing he won is something I will never get over! 🥺
He's so joyful I freaking cried. Roberto, amore mio, you are phenomenal!
His pure …. I love himmm❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭
This is a great man. He most excited to hug everyone before he even recieves the oscar. His actions that night show that even if he didn't get an oscar he would still be loving. He doesn't sell out or change himself to fit the picture of a hollywood actor. This man is not afraid to be himself.
This was the first movie I could recalled that made me cried, I was about 8 or 9, and the ending was just beautiful and touching, what a great film.
Beautiful person love your movies benigni
The mere fact that his bows down to everybody shows what we have lost today.
He feels gratitude and humble to receive an award for doing something he was born to do.
Awww, one of the best acceptance speeches I have ever heard. Makes me teary-eyed. Go, Roberto!
I just watch his film again after many years, I’m glad he won, he deserved it.
