  • Add a three-dimensional effect to your quilt projects with thread painting while developing your free-motion quilting skills. Karen Charles of Husqvarna Viking demonstrates how to prepare your sewing machine and shows her method for thread painting and creating dimension by couching down cording and stitching on wash-away stabilizer to add additional elements to quilts.

I like that you talked about not having to have a special machine to accomplish this! Mine is not computerized and I think I can do this! Thanks

Absolutely amazing, just what I have been looking to do. I can't wait to try it. I have heard of wash away backing over and over again. Now I see it's possibilities. I love the mixed media fabric thread cord ribbons glitter even beads I imagen and whatever you could think of dies or paint. I originally wanted to do hand string art, but my shoulder is in bad shape, and I found that difficult, so I turned to the freehand free motion and have done a few pieces. But more and more I see that applique is sparking my interest and this just hit the ball out of the park. Thanks so much. I feel my creativity has been electrified.

I have a Sears Kenmore Sewing machine my mom left me. How would I get that presser foot for my machine??
