Your delivery was excellent, clear, to the point. It was the first time I understood exactly what to do. You made it look easy AND as a former teacher I soooo appreciated your style. Im so tired of giddy, giggly, all about me, self important, boring, telling me all your feelings videos. Your video is the best I have ever seen on this topic.
I enjoyed this tutorial very much. I’m on the voyage to learn basic free motion quilting on my domestic machine. You were very informative and calming exactly what I needed. Thank you!!
This is the first time I have actually understood how to free motion quilt and learned how it is done! No messing about and straight to the point. It has given me so many ideas.
Yay! I try to make videos that are helpful and right to the point, so it is always lovely to hear when I've hit the mark. 🥰 I have 2 other free motion quilting videos you might enjoy - one with more simple designs, and one on quilting a big quilt (rather than just a practice sandwich)
Oh my goodness! I think I can do this! I have watched many instructional videos on free motion quilting and never before thought I could do it. Thank you so much! You are a fantastic teacher!
It's so nice to get right to the lesson. You are a concise, engaging, and informative instructor. Your expertise is very evident. Thanks for sharing with us!
Please do more free motion videos like this one! The idea of using “e and o” to make so many designs is genius! I’d love for you to share more of your designs.
This video came up in my feed today I couldn't be happier to have seen this lesson. You made it stupid simple thank you!!! I've seen alot of free motion that aren't very clear on where and how to begin.
Add me to the list of those who liked this video. At other times in my life when someone was explaining something I didn't understand, I just say, "Give me the sixth-grade version!" And that's what you did for me here -- and I mean that as a compliment. Thank you.
Thousand thumbs up I am just finding this video. I have practiced some free motion years ago but have been doing mostly cross hatch. I have a bunch of wall hangings and several flimsy s and I am going to tackle free motion. Thanks again
Love how you demo'ed free motion quilting. It is the best and most relaxed I have seen. Free motion quilting does not need to put someone on edge. I look forward to more demos from you. Thank you.
Oh, I hope she does! Practice is key to get smooth lines. I have a couple other Free Motion Quilting videos she might enjoy, if you want to share those with her.
I'm impressed with the easy way you teach. Looks easy and comfortable. I will be doing quite a few quilt sandwich to practice. Can't wait. I'm excited. Thankyou.
It takes a little practice to get used to moving with the machine, rather than fighting it. Once you get that part down, you get to start playing with designs ... that's my favorite part! 🥰
Oh, yay!! Once you get the rhythm of your sewing machine, the rest is easy. It is like the first time someone drives a car - the drive is very rough and jerky until they figure out how to work the pedals and steering wheel in unison. After a while, it is just automatic. 🥰
From a former teacher, you are an excellent teacher!!😉 Your steps were very clear and you anticipated my questions, which was awesome!! I’m on a mission to learn FMQ and yours is the first YT video I’ve seen that makes me believe I can actually do this! Thank you SO much for putting this video together for us newbies!!🥰💕
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. You CAN free motion quilt! It will be a little uneven at first. Curves won't be as smooth... but you'll even out with practice. And then it will just be magical. ❤️
I absolutely loved this video. So quick into the project, precise instruction and good video coverage. No gabbling on and on about the project just clear speech and invaluable tips. Well done Carolina - I would appreciate watching many more of your videos.
Carolina Moore you are a great teacher for a visual learner like me. Thank you. Amazing to see 8 designs from one basic movement!! I will now try those those designs. Do you have any other free motion tutorial videos?
While I don't teach fabric arts, I am a teacher and agree with the other positive comments here. Your instructions and examples are very clear with great scaffolding, building upon skills demonstrated.
I'm so glad the timing was perfect!! Have fun practicing! And make sure to keep some of your early practice samples - it is so fun to see how much we've grown!
I’m just learning free motion quilting. Today I worked on my t shirt quilt. I am going to practice the shapes you demonstrated and incorporate in my quilt. Love your video. Great pace. Great instruction.
Practice practice practice. You make it look easy. Sometimes my mind and hands moving the fabric don’t match. I almost want to draw the design as a guide. I just bought a stitch regulator. I noticed you did not use. Any reason why?
@@Jerzidi9 Yes! Practice makes progress! I remember when I first started driving, it was jerky at first - my hands, feet, and mind all needed to work together in a new way. Free Motion Quilting is very similar! And yes, I chose not to use a stitch regulator. This was for a couple reasons. One is that it wasn't cheap, and I was still starting out. Having to budget for a stitch regulator would mean waiting even longer! The other reason is that as long as I was learning the whole process, I wanted to teach myself how to regulate the stitches on my own. This means with a few minutes of warm up, I can FMQ on just about any machine. For most people, this isn't significant, though. If a stitch regulator helps you, use it! I'm all for quilting tools that help us out!!
Thank You for showing it slowly how it is being done. I have this machine foot but didn't know how to use it. Thank You again. I see that this video is 6 years ago but it' s very helpful for a first timer 👍👍👍❤
Yes, this is the best I have seen also, I have spent several weeks looking for this type of Tutorial!!! I have made several Quilt Tops and have a quilter that finishes them but I am wanting to learn to do it myself. I am almost 70 yrs old … maybe I should have found a different hobby. The cost of having them quilted is getting very expensive and since I am now retired and only have my social security income I have to learn to do most of them myself. I have been sewing since I was 20 yrs old, had to learn when I had 3 daughters to cloth. The only thing I didn't makes was panties, sock and slips otherwise I made everything (coats included) for them until they were seniors in H.S. (even made my husbands leisure suits.. no such thing these days). Thank you so much for this video and Please hoping you will keep them coming.
Just came across this great FMQ tutorial. I've been a little hesitant about free motion quilting, thinking it would be complicated. You've made it look fairly simple. I know I'll need practice, but now think I'm willing to tackle it! Thanks!
It is a lot like driving a car. In the beginning it is a bit "jerky" and uneven, because your feet and hands have to get used to working together. But once you get that part down, it gets much easier to learn new designs!
Thanks! That is such a lovely compliment!! 😍 I'm glad you were able to learn something. I have been FMQing for a little while, and quilting for even longer, but I am always looking to learn more!

Carol McCollum Thanks for telling me about Erica's video! :) I have not discussed tension problems here... I usually find that cleaning the bobbin housing and putting in a fresh needle solves most of my problems. :)
Finally a clear example(s) that gives me the confidence to try FMQ and be excited about it instead of afraid. It was easy to see what you were doing and your instruction was easy to understand. I'm glad I found your channel! Thank you!
