Today I'm taking on a challenge based off of the "Worlds Fastest Plane Challenge" I've done previously however this one takes place on the ground as we try to become the record holder for the fastest land vehicle in the world!... I mean on Earth because Kerbin's record... Who know what it is o.0

You should have:
A. Let the jets spool up before releasing the brakes at the beginning
B. Used the afterburners
C. Left the parts at normal scale (less drag)
D. Used larger chutes to deploy after the drogues
E. Not jettisoned the rocket pods (they might not have been needed, but you should at least use their inherent drag to slow down)
F. Flown or hyperedited the craft to the North Pole for a much longer run

Technically yeah but parachutes were the simpler solution :P

imagine irl you would take about 32896514 g in your face (not really but still end up as a smoothie)
It wouldn’t work because the aerodynamics would be crap. And if you did find small enough engines you’d need lots witch would weight it down, also if you didn’t balance the fuel the front would be too heavy and the position of the engines would put too much pressure on the front landing gear causing it too break and crash.

I would do it in this sequence. (Brakes engaged) warm up engines release brakes. And at the same time activate SRB and afterburners at the same time. Then go fast. Then smile. And then remember it's KSP and explode randomly from kraken

Toggle the engines to WET (with afterburner). You will go A LOT faster on start up.

A few facts about Thrust SSC, in case you ever try this again.
1) It had rear-wheel steering. Wing Commander Andy Green (the pilot), once referred to it as "the fastest forklift in the world"!
2) Solid Aluminium wheels with no tyres.
3) Powered by low-bypass turbofan Rolls Royce Spey 202's, from the RAF variant of the F4 Phantom. Afterburners were used during the record runs.
4) They used about eight miles of desert for the runs.

The Bloodhound SSC, had a theoretical of 1000mph+. Looks amazing too!
I was able to achieve 438m/s, inside the runway, with stock parts.
roughly the same, bit more and the braking happens in mid-flight and i land safely on the beach :D
I didn't get off, so I think I still win. :p
BTW, I recorded that, so...
I was only able to get up to 381m/s
531m/s :)

The real one had jet engines not rocket engines
You need to spool your jets.
Apply your breaks at the start and spool up the jet engines till they start to overcome the breaks. Then release breaks and trigger the rockets. You'll go faster, quicker. Better still, apply a launch clamp to the rear and spool up the jets till they are full thrust.

turn the brakes on while you let the engines spool up.

Yup, 2 stages of parachutes. Both surface mounted. First of drogue chutes to get it sub sonic, then full size ones for a very slow splash down.
+agentcrm That was my mechanism :0 , except that I used twitch gimbal engines to create high aoa to lose spore until I could use the drag chutes

Fun fact: the land speed record car broke one of the rules because your car has to be perfectly intact but yet one of the bolts holding a wheel on fell off! Luckily the wheel stayed on but still it is scary to think that it could have gone terribly wrong all because some guy forgot to check the simplest thing. They were also debating wether it should have its record taken away but they decided against it because it took years of preparations to do.

+Matt Wesson Although I wasn't trying the KSP version of the challenge that does make a lot of sense because it really was easy even for my incompetence. If I hadn't built the replica I probably would've done something along those lines. :|

i noticed the jet engines used had thrust vectoring exhaust nozzles.. thats probably the reason it could fly even if it didnt have any main wings

Things you should have done. Make the engines smaller, use the afterburners, make a more aerodynamic sleek design. Put a spoiler on that thing. A spoiler will keep that thing in place.
