Matt: “Career mode playthroughs aren’t fun to watch”
Me: *binges Raiz Space videos*
You spoil us with consistency Matt! On the career mode - one thing I think a lot of people miss (because its not obvious) is that it throws random missions at you, but if you decline them, it "learns" and over time supplies you with missions you prefer. If you keep just taking certain missions, you will get more of those offered over time. For instance accepting Space Tourism missions will rapidly result in more. Letting them expire from the selection queue means over time less, but outright rejecting them more rapidly trains the system to not offer them to you. In effect, when doing a campaign, pick the ones you want, reject the ones you don't, and you will get missions you like. I found it helpful in my head cannon to outline what I wanted my Kerbal's space program arc to look like, then only accepted missions that were inline. Your rep takes a beating at first, but honestly, who cares, eventually you make it up and still come out ahead.
Matt you stupendous SSTO flying, space fairing animal activist, you still haven't done anything with comets!
Why, what a lovely coincidence. I was just about to go to bed then I check my recommendations
Hi! I am 12 years old and I got KSP 2 weeks ago. Your channel is the first time I got introduced to this game. Yesterday I managed to get a sattelite into orbit! Thank you for these great videos!
Get well soon!
@@arnavagarwal5780 ?
Matt had a broken a at the time of this video he mentions but I forget when
Dude! If this is how proficient you are at doing things in one take that's AWESOME.
I wanna see more videos with this amount of editing, it feels very natural and more personal. I like it!
Also career mode IS totally fun to watch!! You have to come up with creative solutions to unusual contracts :)
Hope your hand heals quickly, always love the KSP content it gives me ideas for my console playthrough (would use a PC but I'm a poor boi) editing spacecraft is sooooo much harder on console and it's less accurate but it works.
career mode is my favourite mode and i play career only, the contracts are optional and there are some really fun contracts where you need to go to like 6 planets in 1 launch and theyre not that rare, or base building contracts, base expanding contracts...
I broke my hand last fall and could barely play KSP with just the one. Props to you for both playing and editing despite the injury!
I'd love a Science Mode Console Series where you could show more creative ways to collect science, maybe visiting the Comet if she makes an appearance? Haha.
Love the content, stay safe!
For the wheel not working when placed on cargo bay - place it on cockpit and use the fine tuner to move it back - if you hold shift or alt, you can drag it further than the constraints of the grandfather part!
Yes! I want to see the mun base!! And I understand your points about career mode. I would totally enjoy the career stream
Hi Matt I love your videos. I especially like your ssto videos as it gives me something to base my spaceplanes on.
About the escape trajectory becoming an orbit, it probably hit Minmus or Mün’s SOI for a moment, and got a gravity assist, but not strong enough to create an impact with kerban.
Actually happened to me on my first orbit mission.
Huh I really timed this nicely, 103 views. :)
*Edit*: How'd you hurt your hand if I can ask? I thought "I'll go over what I did" was about your hand, by the way quality of content and commentary seems good as usual.
*Edit Two*: Bashed against a door frame Source: Matt's Instagram
I think the door frame was just a cover story for what really happened - I'm sure it goes something like: While I was fighting off a load of road warrior style bikers or when protecting the harbor from blood thirsty group of pirates.
Aight, ima go dump a bunch of hydrazine in the atmosphere of laythe now.
Don't do it, don't do it!
@@DerInterloper Down with space beavers! Up with the proton!
Is hydrazine used in RCS or is a rocket fuel?
@@panpsalt6757 It’s a rocket fuel used in RCS
If you got real fuels, then why stop at Hydrazine and dump Chlorine Trifluoride on Laythe instead?
I believe - and I'm not 100% sure , but if you click on the landing gear and select "deploy shielded" in the landing gear menu - it'll deploy on the gear action if attached to or in a cargo bay?
Not sure though, on my SSTOs usualy the front gear ends up under the cockpit (I tend to not let the fuselage be too long)
I love how you make entire missions put of this where as there is literally a button to delete debris. Kudos
I think I was like 13 when I first played this game. I couldn't even figure out how to do a circular orbit. Now I'm 20yo and just started playing again. I have built a refueling station on the mun and minmus. I also have a massive space station halfway between kerban and the mun. Duna is next! Your videos are so helpful, and your enthusiasm just makes me want to play KSP even more. Thanks Matt.
Those last 10 seconds are the single most chaotic collection of things outside of the warp.
Looks like a shit storm raining shit apples.
Planet coaster was great, I'd love to see you bring it back!
You missed an opportunity to title this “The Debris-est Catch”!
👀
The Hardest Catch?
haha..octodad
@@Nafinafnaf Deadliest
I never see anyone use it, but the third tab on your info window at bottom left actually tells you closest approach distances. SO, if you wanted to use the map even less for an encounter, that is helpful.
to extend the landing gear while in a cargo bay o a fairing, when you are in the VAB/SPH right click the landing gear and set deploy as shielded
This is sooo freaking cool. Using the new features to recover parts. Right out of something sci-fi :D
I'm playing career mode in PC and the contracts are actually getting better. At first it had part tests, tourists and satellite launches, then some stations (in LKO or Kerbol orbit and in Mun and Minmus) and now as I get further into the other planets more good contracts pop up. For example I have to drill for ore in Duna and take it to Ike (or the other way), or take some reading on a specific place in Eve and so on. And all that gives loads of money so I can expand my stations!

Dont worry about the broken hand Matt, i hope everyone would respect him and let him took time off to heal.
Everybody but TH-cam / The Algorithm(tm)
a lot of the career mode contracts can get pretty interesting, like i had to make a minmus base with 1,600 units of liquid fuel but also with only a 1.25m fairing and fuel tanks of mk0 and mk1
all of the uninteresting ones are usually just at the beginning and they get more fun
also not having VAB, SPH, launchpad, and runway upgraded makes it so you have to think about it, not just add more boosters
I watched one of your videos a couple months ago, and now I can't stop playing KSP, one hour feels like one minute.
Also, in the making of this comment I just became a member of the Lowne Squad!
One time I got into a kerbin orbit and ran out of
Fuel while completing the de-orbit burn, I was still in orbit, BUT the atmosphere actually caught me and slowed me down JUST enough to land
This man makes some random reviews that are quality.

Lowne : lets recover deep space debris with an SSTO
If you’re really going to do a console playthrough on PS4 like you said. Make sure to make a back-up after each day of playing. You can easily do that in settings under manage save data via a USB-drive. I have had KSP crash and delete my save or make it unplayable otherwise far too many times now.
The WR speedrun for KSP is under an hour, if anything a save game corruption would be a good opportunity to try and farm back as much science as possible :P
Yes for console playthrough! And I wish you a swift recovery for your hand :)
I did not notice the left handed trackpadness until you mentioned it. Also yes, show me the differences between PC and console. Do science mode as much as you like. Don't touch career mode until KSP 2. Science mode on console sounds great!
Also please bring back it's Wednesday my dudes
Cannot wait for KSP2 and multiplayer... I hope there’s multiplayer. Having space races, first to the Mun etc etc, is going to be great.

Career mode gets much much better after unlocking the science tree. It’s not testing decouplers at altitude, it’s more like retrieving a rock from Laythe. I’d luv a console play thru because that’s what I play KSP on. The PS4 pro.
I’d luv a career mode play thru
to have bases on different planets /moons on stock to spice things up would really be cool.
Have a good recovery Matt, go and see a physio for your hand so to have a proper healing.
Oh no! I hope you get well soon Matt ❤️
that is so coooolll, i never knew you could make arms like this
So what you’re saying is we need to build a big enough payload bay like shuttle like this to retrieve the Apollo S4B boosters that are in solar orbit interesting

Hey Matt,
love your videos.
Btw if you do not want your robot arms to move just locked them.
You will not get rid of all movements but 95% off it.
14:36 nice! Munar eclipse
Sending all of our love and support your way.
Hope your hand heals quick! I love watching your videos
I’ve been a sub and a fan for a long time. I watch all ‘Last Week This Week’ episodes. I play KSP on PS4 pro, that’s all I got. I don’t have a PC. I play ‘career’ mode only, and after the career gets further into unlocking all science tree items, or most of them, the missions get much better.
Mate, have you noticed how much more game is crashing at the moment? I'm talking like 2-3 times everytime I play. Seems to be increasing in frequency
Perfect for lunchtime!
I gotta admit, that specific ssto is looking AWESOME!
Matt is one of the only youtubers I watch
Just before I clicked on this video. I flew my first space shuttle! It was designed by me as well. The landing wasn't so good cause one set of evelons exploded and I landed with like 20m/s vertical speed. But the crew did survive.
I just broke my hand too, two metal pins in the side 😬 playing ksp is super hard
Kinda wanna see a career mode playthrough. I wanna see how creative Matt can be in completing the contracts
Lol
Your account name thingy is literally called " gravity "
LOL
RIP

'Twas a good and useful hand'
Me: *up all night*
Matt: Take a KSP video to stay up longer! :D
The eclipse was a really nice touch to this video..
That space dolphins and space polar bear part makes it feel like he is a kerbal
Cool eclipse at the end
for the ps4 version, do a mission to build a com relay to as many places in one launch as possible. example is a couple sats in very high kerbin orbit, 3 in a solar orbit, swing out to one of the outer planets, dump a few there...
the 2nd mission would be a speed run of science mode using the diver probes that you just drop onto the surface, run a bunch of experiments, BUT they have a small engine so they can fly into something as a way to clean up everything.
these 2 missions would get you set up for whatever else you do on console with just a bunch of the same parts, copy pasted... wile a good bit of the missions would be edited out for being repetitive it would be a good way to get used to the oddities of console KSP since the console doesnt like crazy part counts.
your great next make a space dolphin and launch it in to space
Dude, we like your content not for the perfect editing , but for the author and the subject matter. Heal up and don't sweat the rough edges caused by the injury!
You are so good at these, and they are so enjoyable (covid has me trapped in Poland and my power PC is half a world and 14 months away) if you hadn't mentioned your broken hand and editing I don't think anyone would have noticed. Speedy complete recovery to you! :)
I'm sorry to say this, but it wasn't coof that had you trapped at home. That was your overbearing nanny state government. I only point this out in Hope's that we all learned our lesson. You ever hear of the Drowning rat experiment? They place them in a tank with no escape, and see how long they will try to survive, normally about a half hour or so,but if they safe the rat right before drowning, clean him up and let him on land for a short time, the next time they try it the rat is willing to keep trying for over 30hrs! Enjoy your dry off time, and consider what I've said please.
I recommend watching the SSTO 'fiery phoenix' take off with the Battle of the Planets theme music playing in another tab.
Get well soon Matt hope that hand heals quick
hay you could use the same ssto to capture the derbies left by the jool station!
KSP is so cool. one thing it has made me realize is, in space, you dont just go out and sit. youre always orbiting something lol.
Mun base is great. I can build massive interplanetary ships and launch them as a single unit instead of monkeying around with multiple launches.
YAY! CONSOLE PLAYTHROUGHS!
I certainly did not notice the curser until you mentioned it funny enough. my brain filtered it out while i was focused on rockets :)
all of these videos eventualy turn into story time with matt
I want to see a career mode play through based on the Blunderbirds-like contracts. You can also get quite a lot of cash from “World’s First” achievements, no contract required - a flyby of many Jool moons can be quite lucrative!
Looking forward to the science playthrough!
I know you won't see this but a series I would LOVE would be you using stock vessels and doing what you did with the kerbal x and use them and see what stock vessels are actually good I think it would be awesome and something new
Was waiting for this video
the clipping debris made my day. very good content 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Almost at 400k subs Matt advance congrats!!
I hope your hands will heal soon.
Science playthroughs are the most interesting to watch if only to see the various science gathering strategies. Unfortunately most KSP video creators tend to get lost in the weeds of mods and other shit and it turns into a 5 episode speedrun.
I'm an experienced player but it is still entertaining to see how I might have done something differently and I think that is the next problem with KSP videos. Everything doesn't have to be a new giant gimmick; or worse, limited to version updates... Sometimes just seeing how last weeks science collection could have been done differently is worth watching. You might think people are "sick of" seeing how to do a gravity assist, or how to plan a trip, but I think that's shortsighted.
Thank you for cleaning space! I really wish space agencies did this in real life.
1:02 You always forget the spacepanda's
I absolutely love the ability to fix stuff in orbit if you forget something
I think allowing the landing gear to deploy while shielded should fix the issue with the cargo bay
