Another great one by Pulp, which has fairly adult lyrical content is "Underwear" And I love it

I love 'Pulp' particularly their earlier stuff like this, other tracks which I recommend by them are:
    "The Fear",
    "Pink Glove",
    "Common People",
"Do You Remember the First Time?",
    "A Little Soul",
    "Lip Gloss",
there are plenty of other tracks but these are good ones to continue with.

everyone says it's perfection, it's something you've waited for all your life, and it's over in an instant, and it didn't make you happy
it's a truly joyless, wretched track and i love it. it's funny looking back on Different Class and seeing how universally loved they made the popstar outsider (were we all in fact the girl in Common People, just by dint of being young and naive?), but when he spoke to a more deep-seated despair we weren't having any of it

Arguably one of Pulp's finest songs from So many! "Something Changed" is another!. Wonderful memories of the great 90's UK scene the media called "Britpop" which was an expression Jarvis Cocker in particular completely despised!

  • @Sandy-dd4le

Wow, what a bizarre place to start off on Pulp! 😮
Great band, one of Sheffield's finest. Jarvis has a knack for kitchen sink/real life lyrics to some killer tunes .
Superb live band, seen them a few times, they had a run of being the closing act at a lot of festivals for a while towards the end.
Plus their keyboard player was called, Candida.....i mean, come on! ;)

The best side of Britpop. Pulp were so good and so big back then. Their output was consistently good and a lot is acerbic social commentary. If you were of a particular generation in the UK in the 90s, it all spoke to you. They were glorious times ❤😂

I used to listen to Jarvis Cocker's father, Mac Cocker, on Sydney radio station Triple J, way back in the 70's. I know this isn't going to be a popular POV, but I enjoyed listening to Mac as a DJ more than I enjoyed his son as a singer.

@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering He was just a humble DJ and radio personality that spoke with an English accent. A middle-aged hippy hipster with long hair that ran away from England to have a ''better'' life in Australia and got caught up with Sydney's coolest radio station.
And I correct myself. It was DOUBLE J, not Triple J. It was a cool community station that played punk and weirdo music. Sadly, it is now the nationally broadcast institution called Triple J and horrible.

@@kaitlynbatt_ exact same thing happened here Kaitlyn , all my growing up years the big radio station here was bbc Radio 1 it had everything , chart stuff mixed with housewives favs during the day and edgier young uns stuff at night including the punk guru John Peel.. but the BBC in their wisdom had a big shakeout a few years ago and all the dj’s with credibility were either let go or relegated to the much less trendy Radio 2 . Joke was on them as Radio 1 is unlistenable now unless your an urban 14yo and Radio 2 has grown old WITH us late boomers 😀.. here’s a message to the BBC , it’s got 2 fingers in THIS shape ..V 😀

@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering I might just step in here and say that Double J was a little different to the BBC. It was a community radio station that was housed by the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) and funded by the government. It was a 24 hour Alternative radio station that played the same music that John Peel played on his Perfumed Garden shows. I was shocked because the station didn't censor out swearing, and it gave voice to those with radical views. There was no room for housewife taste.
It would eventually become a nationwide station as Triple J, and many Aussie artists have to grin and bare the stations dictation of adopting a ''Triple J sound'' if they're wanting to get anywhere in the country. It's a youth station that is too powerful for its own good and it has harmed a few acts that didn't toe the line. Mac Jarver was part of the humble beginnings of Double, and was a home-away-from-home mate when I first arrived in Australia from England back in the mid 70's. He had a bit of a Charlie Gillett style to him.

Ouch! What’s all this hatin’ on Jarvis Cocker? Sure, this isn’t the Pulp song I would’ve started with, but this song IS Jarvis Cocker (who has a spectacular voice btw), and AS IF someone like Buble or Adele would remotely consider covering it. That’s why I love your channel, guys, the fact you will react to some incredibly interesting musical choices.
