- Rudniks last boarding spot did have one mare but she was bonded to one of the older geldings so she never really hung out with the rest of the boys.
Needless to say I think he’s quite taken with all the pretty ladies at his new spot…😂

You just got to love really windy day. They get so distracted because they can't hear everything. It almost is like the wind scrambles their brain cells. Then the girls are ignoring him. Too Funny!

Since he used to not come when called much at the other place, maybe this is a sign that he is settling in to the new? He's more comfortable because he knows you're coming regularly and didn't just leave him somewhere. Or just trying to show cool indifference in front of his lady friends!
That could be it! I think I’ll forever tear up thinking about that first day I came back to see him, the way he ran to meet me - I could just sense he had thought I’d abandoned him for good and seeing me show up made him so happy! But seeing how excited he was to see me, I don’t think it ever hit me how much I actually mean to him until that moment. It broke my heart leaving him again after that but seeing him settle in more as the days pass has really been such a relief!

I guess a lack of 'pickup truck trailer hitch accessories' (ie, the 'truck nuts') doesn't shut off a boy's interest in girls. I never would have guessed.

@@rudniktheroan No wonder mares tend to be aggressive...having to 'explain' what "I ain't in the mood" is multiple times would get on my last nerve, too.
I hope the trend of coming when you call him is not ending, especially not as some macho posturing for the other horses! "I am totally independent and not Mom's baby Boy!" lol. I think he ahs a cush on one or two of the mares he's in pasture with, tho they are not likely to be as affectionate back, since he's a gelding, they want stalions usually, heh. [not always! but Mares love the Big Boys with B*lls, as I've seen from the dynamics at my friend's places where they board their horses!]

Maybe rudnik needs to play hard to get. Then the tide will turn. He's just about as handsome as it gets.
The land owners past concerns migh tstem from someone not knowing their gelding was cryptorchid, which can cause all kinds of problems.
You’re correct - it was a proud cut gelding that stirred some issues but overall definitely better to just keep them separated because even geldings can become possessive over mares and start turning on each other - overall creating a very hostile environment. Sometimes they forget they don’t have all the pieces anymore 😂
Rudnik was clearly not wanting to ride this day. Check out Locke Philips regarding Emotional Horsemanship for ways to tell when you & Rudnik are in synch. He usually really enjoys his time with you, just not today.
It was very windy so he was getting quite distracted but otherwise he was doing very well!
Maybe he’s slow to respond because he’s showing the other horses how chill he is? I never thought horses could be like 7th grade girls.
So sad that the ladies won’t pay attention to that extremely handsome good boy. But since they can be moody ladies who like to bite maybe it’s best they ignore him even if it does hurt his feelings.
