The Ferrari 488 Spider is now available for £155,000 from Ferrari Approved Dealers. Does this Supercar represent great value now?
This car is so fast I don’t think the remap is necessary, I lowered mine just to make it faster around corners, I agree that this car would hold its value.
The engine and gearbox remap make a big difference. Highly recommend both. Come to London and try this one!!!
It does not. They are selling a product. But it will not do anything for you in terms of reliability. Get an F8 if you think you need more.
Are you using the manatino to charge the mapping too? Is it less tuned in the normal mode? And more aggressive in the race mode? Or it same all around?
Well done video on the 488. I am a car enthusiast and do enjoy your videos. I happen to have a small car collection to include several exotics. This particular video caught my eye as I purchased a 2023 F488 last year, but not for me. I know that sounds crazy! I must explain why.
So, as an anniversary gift, I surprised my stunning wife with this car! Believe me, she is built for speed and is a perfect match. That twin-turbo 3.9-liter V-8 wìth 710 horsepower and 568 ft of torque doesn't intimidate her at all. We both track a few of the cars we own. She grew up in Italy, and her father was also a collector of mainly Ferrari's.
So, our close friend happens to own the Ferrari dealership. It took 9 months for the car to arrive. Plus, the typical Ferrari purchase approval process, which I find quite annoying. It took 9 months to arrive. So did our 7 children, who were well worth the wait. No twins!
So we pre-planned the surprise. I got her to the dealership under the premise, wanting to see a car my friend recently purchased for his private collection. Well, she tagged along with some resistance, but it couldn't have gone better. She was absolutely blown away when I handed her the keys as they opened the showroom doors so she could drive it out. She actually didn't as she was so shaken. I thanked her for being the best part of my life! Her being Italian, they are a perfect fit!!! I wish my in-laws had been alive to be part of that moment!
The car is simply amazing in every aspect. She is really loving it as it's no garage queen.
I am extremely grateful for all the successes. My greatest joy is blessing my wife and family. Seeing the most stunning and elegant woman I have ever laid eyes on in her car is priceless!
Today, physically, she doesn't look like she ever gave birth. She is still 110 lbs. She is like an exquisite bottle of 1945 Romanée!
She looks 20 years younger than her age and still not a stretch mark or wrinkle to be found. She still looks like a model today.
We are living our blessed lives now!!!!
Great review as always 🔥 next time please give us more of the engine and exhaust notes 🙏🏼
Thanks. We normally only have 3 hours to film a video so try and get as much in as we can. Glad you enjoyed.
Great content, videography thanks for sharing these ideas
Thanks for the positive feedback. Always appreciated.
What is the remapping? I mean whose product is it?
Amazing video as always , Thank you mate 🙏
Thanks for the positive feedback.
One of the best Ferraris ever - so underrated. It is an absolutely beautiful car in person, and is mind-blowingly fast on a regular road. It sounds so amazing too, and with those turbos to give it the extra HP over the 458 it is perfect especially when you notice how the turbo lag is barely noticeable. Seriously underrated car, that I know is better than the 458.
I have one but I prefer the coupe since you can show off the engine bay
That is one advantage of a coupe. However on the Spider you can put the roof down and also open the rear window.
@@888mf4 Yes but I’d rather be a show off than hear sounds. Me being so vain 😜
plus less shake
Why would anyone remap a Ferrari, put big wheels on it, lower the suspension and put a body kit on it. I’d imagine Ferrari have probably set it up a bit better than you and Halfords. Sounds bloody awful.
Totally agree with you - but he is wearing double denim which means zero taste.
Agreed also…
Totally agree
Ferrari spent millions in R&D for this magnificent car and some 🤓 decides it needs a remap and wider wheels , body kit I heard him mention also lowering it 🤦🏼♂️ with different wheels !!
Exactly this.
What is it like in a multi-story car park?
Best purchase ever at £140k plus but in white
You don't see many in white. They are not quite at £140k yet either.
Which company did the remap? It would obviously void the drivetrain warranty if there is one, but I've remapped all my cars.
DMS Automotive. The warranty expired last year, so not a concern.
DO NOT DO A REMAP ON THESE. They are very reliable as is, but it has also been shown that the turbos will be dramatically compromised by upping the boost.
@@AB-80XCould you link to any posts or articles on this? I’m sure a map by a reputable tuner taking it to Pista levels would not harm the turbos or any other components
Great vid and choice of car. Keep the review simple my man don’t try sell us someone pls✌️✌️
Appreciate the positive feedback.
Amazing video 🎉🎉🎉
excellent who did the remaps DMS?
yes
You're a lucky man if the Mrs isn't complaining about you spending wads of cash on these cars. Buying it is okay, service and maintenance can be a little eye watering, but issues drive me nuts.
Ferrari offer a 7 year warranty so maintaining these cars isn't as bad as in the past.
@@888mf4 Ferrari has never and will never offer a 7 year warranty. You don't know what you're talking about. Ferrari offers a 7 year free maintenance plan. Warranty is 3 years as it has been for years.
A 1y or 2y old Porsche 911s or GTS cab is about the same price (a bit lower to be fair, but not by a lot). These 488 will be not usable on a daily basis, but the sense of occasion is so much better. Also I don’t think they have GPF and sound better.
its very usable daily with the daylona seats so compfy. And also yes no GPF
I have 50k km on my Spider. It is every bit as useable as a 911.
A body kit on the front, lowering it, fitting bigger wheels, making it even more unsuitable for UK roads. It's value will be in keeping it all original. Doing what you suggest will massively devalue the car!
You can put it back to stock
@@shonuffLA A careful eye will notice screws, bolts have been tampered with, as well as panel gaps will be different and will walk away. There are always tell tell signs as the panels never go back exactly the same as it came from the factory, plus a lot of original parts (screws bolts etc) will be thrown away, I can spot if a car has been messed with a mile away...
@@grahamtricker4103 fair point
Absolutely agree with everything you say but take a look at the Novitec updated 488. The wheels, lowering and mapping made an amazing difference. The car was transformed (in a good way).
Wow 🤩
It may not need a remap - powerful enough as it is - I'd put an X pipe exhaust.
The engine remap gives the car much more urgency when accelerating and the gearbox remap gives the upshifts a lot more feel. Both compliment the car.
Hard to argue with the performance value of this car (and you get to own and drive a Ferrari). It’s pretty common around where I live, but still a great car. Ferrari’s 911 Turbo S.
Totally agree. At this price point it's hard to find another supercar that looks as good and has the same performance. The only other car is the MC20 but the Spider version is still above £200,000.
Yup, and I'd still rather have a Ferrari in the garage (and might hold value a bit better).
@@888mf4
They are not cheap enough yet. What were the manufacturing costs ? 15/20k ?
Lame comment..🙄
@@duffydon1741 Why is that lame ?? You like bring overcharged obviously.
@@neillchippett655 you’re not Ferraris target, go and make your comments on a Cherry channel…
Not sure it needs a remap (oe your insurance cost needs it) but £1800 for 70+ bhp and a faster gearbox seems a bargin on a ferrari.
It's a 90bhp increase tbf. Not sure it's needs it. Where in England can you use the standard 660hp???
It does NOT need it. Reality is that stock they are very reliable. But with such a tune, they have been seen to last for mere hours before the turbos disintegrate.
Who did the maps?
Halfords
DMS Automotive
@@chriscringle9263lmfao😂
Ferrari spent millions of dollars in R&D and some rich goof ball decides to re map , bigger wheels etc it’s sacrilege .
Do you think the 488 Pista is a remap or a different engine goof ball?
Who did remapping?
DMS
thank you
Not sure I'd remap a Ferrari though
Makes a huge difference to the performance and insurance don't charge a premium for this either.
@@888mf4 who's told you insurance companies don't charge more for a remap??
Please follow his advice and get the remap done. Ferrari just love 3rd party modifications and of course will be more than happy to continue providing the warranty. Oh wait... The owner is a braver man than me I'll stick with the more than ample 670HP and have the peace of mind of Ferrari extended or New Power Warranty.
Double denim?
Canadian tuxedo 😂
The 488 will always be known as the underachieving middle child.
Their exponential deprecation is apt.
Is it the real Rolex Rootbeer or the Pagani.
$150k pounds with 25k miles maybe. These are still 300k usd.
Top tour car had a few on our trips recently and they have really grown on us, they are superb in the mountains as well as on track!!
Great value now at £150-160k
488 😍
i dont think this 488 needed any bumps already extremely way to fast lol
Heading to 100K
Unlikely
Never. They are about done going down. On mainland Europe where the economy is doing better, they are trending slightly upward.
what a car 😍😍
Agreed.
What car can I buy with £1550 ?
not much 🤣🤣
You can buy a 2005 VW Polo 1.2
My Saab 9-5 aero with enough mid range torque to keep up with most and incredible comfort and reliability cost £1350
488 doesn’t look as good which is why value retention is the lowest of the bunch.
i think it does but there are more 488 than 458 which is why the 458 has held its price better (and for the pure ones out there its the last of the na v8 )
488 Spider does look a little soft at the front but I think with aftermarket wheels and a 20mm suspension lowering you could transform it into a different car.
enjoyed the video thanks
Thanks for the positive feedback
A 488GTB can be had from about £130k the Spiders start at less than £140k..As a competitor the 720s starts at about £115k now...I'd go 488 above the 720s tbf...
The cheapest 488 Spider from Ferrari Approved is £154,995 which I think is great value. I am not a fan of the 720S. However I reviewed a 765LTS and that was amazing.
115k pounds for a 720s? You’re definitely smoking crack. Send me a link to any used 720s for 140k USD
Most 488 Spiders in the UK will set you back about 170-190k or a nice one.
@@1bluensx
Are you not thinking? This is not the US. This is the UK. They don't use USD dingbat.
You are the first one to say a 488 sounds good! 458 Spyder over this for sure
458 is super … Slow
Actually...a standard 458 does not sound good. The 488 actually has a pretty good sound
I like your channel
And your content is very good
Coming form someone who most likely never owned either, that does not mean much.
The 458 has a very monotone drone and not much going on. The 488 is actually a lot of fun, because the sound is actually quite complex. There's a lot more going on and it comes across as more "alive".
If you had a warranty before the remap, you certainly dont, after it ?.
the warrantee has run out other wise your right
I apologise guys, this car does nothing for me, & I wouldn’t agree that this model will not depreciate further. I do love ❤the classic 60s Ferraris, & I believe their prices won’t drop. 🙏
Go and look at the prices. It has hit a plateau and won't go much further if anything.
I'm too manly to drive a Ferrari........and those short front hoods look like spatulas...........only the 812 Superfast looks like a car for a man.
And what do you drive?
A huracan is more reliable
i have done nearly 20k miles in it with out even the slightest of problems
@@only1stefan But many owners report that the battery dies constantly, the turbos leak oil and the Ferrari electronics are not the best 🤷♂️
mine has been amazing i take it to europe every year @@joaoalegrio6433
@@joaoalegrio6433
You have no personal experience. All you have is hearsay. Batteries die in all sports cars if you don't maintain them. I have about 50k km on my 488 and have one changed the battery once. And that was because the charger was unplugged by accident and the car sat for 4 months without it. My 981 GT4 and many other cars will do the same. A Huracan is by no means more reliable, and these are not prone to turbos leaking oil. But I guess you'd know that had you even owned any supercar.
458 better, NA all the way!
The 458 Spider is also a great car for £150,000 but only has 562bhp so way lower than the 488 Spider.
As an actual drivers car, the 488 is leaps and bounds ahead of the 458. You have clearly no idea just how flawed the 458 is.
I prefer Lamborghini over Ferrari
Good for you.
