Great commentary on this car. I have a 488 spyder and I love it! The performance is amazing. The engine note is awesome in my opinion. (I don’t want to wake up the neighbors when I do a early drive). Styling is classic (maybe even timeless) and just beautiful. I would have to say what I like best about this car is its dual nature. I can drive it slow, calm and it is comfortable. Its not like a GT car, but some kind of highly tuned luxury ride. Cool and calm. Then the road opens up, or you come up on a tunnel…. You slap the paddles, dropping a few gears, smash the gas, and the thing turns into a raging monster! At these moments you are just hanging on for dear life as this beast pushes the road further behind you. The next county comes fast. It is a real beast! It is so exciting! Balanced, smooth, raw, scary. I have really fallen in love with the car. I’m sure the 458, F8 etc are also amazing cars. But are they a lot better? I just can’t believe they are worth another 100K or more. The 488 is the bargain ferrari that deserves way more attention. IMO. :).
I agree with you 100%. I remember when it came out originally, I was obsessed, but it’s day in the light was short lived when the Pista came out and everyone jumped on that bandwagon. As a performance car, I think the 488 GTB is magnificent, and truly deserving of more attention and recognition. Who knows, with Ferrari going for the V6, maybe the 488 will have its day in the light again. Thanks for sharing your experience! Always great reading from another enthusiast!
Great job! I was one of the salesman there that day.. you are going to be huge!! Your delivery and humor is on point!! Along with the footage and creativity!! Stay determined and you will make more than any engineer!! Great seeing you brother, stay hungry!!
Both the 488 and F8 are immaturely short-lived. The 488 was lasted for 4 years and the Pista variant came too soon causing there's so few people buying the GTB or regular Spider. And the F8 doesn't even have its special version before the launch of 296
I loved your summary - thanks for the informative video which was exactly what I was looking for before creating a comparison video of the Ferrari 488 GTB to a glider plane! Greetings from the Creator-Pilot niche on TH-cam!
Awesome review. The styling of the 488 gtb is timeless and will never go out of style. I totally agree with everything you said. When compared to the F8 the current prices are a relative bargain. And now the F8 is done with production.
I wonder what the F8 is going to do on the market now that production is done, and better still, will it spike the pricing on the 488GTB? Who knows, time will tell. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you sir. That is a tough call, very different cars I think. The 488 would be such a gem to have in the garage and for cruising, I think the GT3RS would make more sense if you plan on tracking it regularly.
They are magnificent, and I wish they had more recognition that they do. I have a deep seeded love for the 458 as the first Ferrari I ever drove, but the 488 is arguably, a better Supercar.
@@carcaveofficial it's just not getting the reviews and so much talks. Everyone has a ton of respect for it. The Pista is revered even is the F8 is the same car and probably my favorite of the newer V8s. It was hard for me to admit, but the 488 is a little better than the 458 in every way less the sound. I have an aftermarket two stage system on mine now, which sounds pretty crazy.
The aftermarket exhaust on the 488 defiantly helps, and it has always been a touchy point for me when they say the Ferrari doesn't sound good. It is still a Ferrari, and it still sounds amazing, even with the aftermarket exhaust. I have never driven a Ferrari and felt disappointed, so in my book, its a car I want in my garage as soon as this TH-cam channel kicks off!
Still my favorite Ferrari to the day, timeless elegance and perfect proportions of all the mythical saga of the great v8's like the f355 , f40, gto, 348... The F8 is also a work of art but in my opinion is like a vigorexic sportscar. The 488 GTB is the apex v8 Ferrari in my book
@@carcaveofficialThanks , great video too. In my opinion Ferraris are always something else in their design language, true artworks of engineering and design. Congratulations to every single person involved in the creation of the 488GTB and the manufacturing of each one of its units.
Great video! Although it's probably easier said than done, I think it would've been cool to have a side by side review of the 458 and 488 exhaust sounds👌 again though, great job!👍🙂✌️
488 IS the forgotten middle child in between the 458 and F8. Can’t help it, history always repeats. Also, F8 won’t be the last V8. The SF90 line of car will continue that heritage.
It really did, and it had the challenge of being the first to go Turbo, so it was already at a disadvantage. Never the less, I think it is a brilliant supercar, and one that shouldn't be overlooked.
@@carcaveofficial of course, the first mid engine turbocharged car since the F40 I believe, I’m yet to see a negative review of the 488, I’ve been lucky enough to ride in both the 458 and 488 and I think the 488 is an amazing car. Some people say it lacks the “feel” of a Ferrari but I disagree

The styling wasntonly ispired by the 458, the chassis is the same
The 488 is an amazing car with amazing performance . But , it had big shoes to fill being the successor to the 458 which is also an amazing car

There are core elements of any product you NEVER change if TGT car was originally naturally aspirated then... DON'T TOUCH!!
I'm gonna buy one soon
Out of 4 gate-crashing Ferraris at our last Porsche c&c, 3 were 488s. Although anecdotal, your premise seems thin.
So a 488 arriving at your Porsche C&C means what exactly to the grand scheme of the car?
@@carcaveofficial Seems like they’re more ubiquitous / common than the title of your video suggests.

Which is more reliable in your opinion: 458 italia or 488 gtb
