Great video. I loved the speed of it. Many reviews draw it out too long. Quick, concise. Thanks for sharing. Love your videos and congratulations on your completion of the AT
Baby wipes area a great idea and my "luxury" item. I dry them out and use water to rehydrate them when the time comes to use them. They weigh near nothing dried out.
Fantastic gear review! Quick and to the point! I get annoyed with long drawn out reviews. It's great to just see what worked for other people to get ideas for what to tweak on my own set up.
For safety devices, you could look at the specs for the "ProteGear A*LIVE" as an alternative to the Garmin or Spot solutions. Device is more expensive, but yearly costs are cheaper - for regular use it would pay off after a few years. Has a good selection of features for me.
Nice gear review but I don’t really understand why people think going UL is any less comfortable than carrying heavier gear. It often means spending more money. For example I just purchased that Montbell Plasma 1000 jacket which is similar to the one you used. It cost me a pretty penny but comes in at 4.9 ounces and it’s plenty warm. It’s about eight ounces lighter than my Patagonia puffy and just was warm. I have essentially did itthis with every piece of gear I own. Same with your raincoat, it’s a very good coat but pricy. I got rid of my Anker 20 for a Nitecore 10 because it’s just way lighter but again it was pricey. I understand you needing the 20,000 because you are recording. I used to think UL was crazy but I am now well into my 60s and putting in bigger days than thirty years ago and more importantly I don’t hurt anymore because my base weight is next to nothing. The raincoat you have is my final piece of gear update. Thanks for sharing your gear and you definitely have a nice kit. Congratulations on your AT through hike. That is awesome. Take care
Glad you had a safe and fun journey on the AT. I was reading a story on thetrek.com about a lady named Ruth Morley and her hike on the AT. She had a bunch of photos and one of them was of you and your "crew" of hiking friends on the AT. In which she had given you guys a ride to the trailhead. Just thought you might want to check it out.....it was neat seeing you guys in a photo rather than just in your videos. Take care.
I love it. It's a great sleeping bag but smells like shit! We've all been there! You have learned so much since that first winter shakedown. Congrats again Rocket!! Tortoise
Loved the video, enjoyed its speed and conciseness! Biggest question is about the journal---how often did you write in it and how was it different from the vlogging process? (not that it's any of my business...lol)
Thank you so much for your video it was amazing !! I am planning hiking the AT and I love Gossamer gear! So many gear choices but I did just buy the Kumo 36 Pack my first purchase. I am looking at the gossamer tent 2 because I am bringing my dog Mako on parts of the trail. Sounds like you love the 1 person tent. Again thx any other recommendations I would love to hear!! Take good care and Congratulations 🎈🍾🎉🎊 on the AT
I liked your video so much I subscribed. Great personality. I see a lot of wisdom and your comments about ultralight versus comfort. Did you go to the Appalachian Trail solo or in a group? Did you care with you and safety precautions such as pepper spray or something else? What was your food? Thank you so much for sharing your video. God bless you.
I read your comment and it made me think, that is still an issue today. I have heard the same issue from others with that pack. They love their packs but the clips keep breaking.
Can you tell me what size Sea to Summit dry bag you kept your quilt in? I can’t tell if it’s an 8-liter or bigger. I have the same pack and about to do my first overnight!
Hi, I enjoyed your video and up until seeing this and the other one.. didn't realize hiking the AT was a thing. My question: what was the cost? Or the total cost from beginning to end? Thank you 😊
A question about your pick for a rain jacket, I figure it's more of a wind jacket than a rain jacket because like you said you're gonna get wet anyway. That said, thte Montbell comes in at $200, a OR Hellium II at $100 do you figure (and having done the whole trail what you think holds weight, to me) it's worth the extra bucks?
GREAT !!! I'm getting my stuff together to do the AT myself. Trying to get some help from company's; can't ask anyone to fund me. Just doesn't feel right to me. I never like asking for $ from people. AKA Trail name is ROCKY Take Care ROCKY
That pee rag is gross. Walking around with a rag used to wipe pee hanging on the outside of your pack.. Who in the world came up with that horrible idea.

Congratulations on your thru hike. Your spirit and tenacity are awesome. Glad your gear was normal and not totally UL.
Fantastic gear review! Quick and to the point! I get annoyed with long drawn out reviews. It's great to just see what worked for other people to get ideas for what to tweak on my own set up.

Great review. Is this list available in writing somewhere for reference? I'd like to use it to research and plan my hike.

Brian Baker I wrote every night.
Julia Sheehan -that’s awesome, never knew you did that on top of everything else! What a keepsake!!
Thanks, looks like I'm doing some things right after all!!

Great job on that list. Your good!
Thanks for your review.
Great post AT update!!
... and you don't look the worse for wear!
Hi Julia,
Cost per day minus gear, health ins. and air travel?? I'll bet it was less than $6.00 per day. 👍👊
Thanks so much this is great information
Congratulations on completing your hike, I’ve enjoyed your videos. Will Gossamer gear fix your sternum strap buckle and the torn mesh pocket ?
Joseph Doughty they’ve sent me some replacement clips! It’s good as new!!
I read your comment and it made me think, that is still an issue today. I have heard the same issue from others with that pack. They love their packs but the clips keep breaking.
👏😃 “More to life than being UL” .....well said rocket ! 🚀 So true 👍
Congrats

Thats the truth about rain gear LOL

Nice video! How many people did you meet on the trail? could one walk for acouple of days withhout meeting anyone?
Where is your next journey?
What capacity are those Sea to Summit dry bags she used?
Ditto. What size are the dry bags?
th-cam.com/video/ieUl_Xnp894/w-d-xo.html according to this other video of hers she used a 13L and 8L
What did you do with your food after northern Virginia, if you stopped hanging???
Hey! Love the videos, quick question for you. What size is the dry bag you used to hold your sleep system? @juliasheehan
8:32 s/0 Devils Backbone 🍺
u carry a fixed blade or a folder knife ?
You gonna get an AT tattoo?
Would you be willing to itemize your gear in a list?
Does Julia have a TH-cam Channel? Thank you.
Beautiful;strong amazing gusty too

Urine rag?
Congrats Julia! Your personality is very catching to say which made for a very interesting Trek. Thanks for sharing your inspiring adventure!
Urine is an irritant so I always wanted to stay dry when I peed in the woods!
Dislikes are the disgruntled ULer's.
That pee rag is gross. Walking around with a rag used to wipe pee hanging on the outside of your pack.. Who in the world came up with that horrible idea.
