    I bought Zemismart M1 matter hub. And want to see if it is compatible to any zigbee devices. I have two Zigbee 3.0 devices, Sonoff Human presence sensor SNZB-06P and ZBMINI Smart switch. both of them are not compatible or I can't manage to pair. Does anyone try to connect any zigbee 3.0 devices?

      This is the problem with smart home shit. They claim compatibility so you buy it and then yta find out it's only compatible with newer shit.
      Super annoying

    Thanks for the review . One question - I presently have several Tuya Zigbee devices already setup on a Tuya Zigbee hub in the Smart Life app. Would I need to re-setup every device so that I can use them with the Zemismart M1 hub and HomeKit ? Thanks in advance.

      Hi, unless there’s an option in the Smart Life app to replace one hub with another in one sweep, you would have to add them individually to the new hub.

      Each Matter ecosystem requires its own Matter Controller, so if you want to add any Matter device to Apple HomeKit you would need an Apple Matter controller.

    so does it mean if I have Apple Homekit ecosystem and I want to control my devices on samsung phone as well, I can use this hub? I use aqara on my homekit , and my aqara hub is matter enable.
    I still confused in what functionality of this hub. I try to add my aqara hub matter qr code to samsung phone (smartthings app) but it says I need hub to use matter device.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This gateway is primarily designed to provide the role of Matter Controller,,along with a Thread Border for the Tuya ecosystem. it’s also a Matter enabled Zigbee Hub, so Tuya or ZemiSmart certified Zigbee devices that are added to this hub, will also be exposed to other platforms if you add the hub to those platforms using Matter. You need a Matter Controller to be able to use this hub with SmartThings. You need a Matter Controller as part of your SmartThings setup in order to add any Matter devices. The SmartThings Station is a Matter Controller, amongst other things, and the latest SmartThings Aeotec hub should have an update to make it a Matter Controller. It can seem complicated, but if you don’t understand, feel free to ask more questions.

      Hi, any devices that work with this hub need to meet 3 basic criteria - they’re Zigbee devices, they are Tuya ‘certified’, and they belong to a device category that is supported by HomeKit or Matter.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      WiFi devices don’t need a hub, but if they’re Tuya Matter devices, then a hub like this would be required for use with the Tuya platform, as Matter devices need a Matter controller for each platform they work on.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you want to use Nanoleaf lighting products that use Matter (Thread or WiFi) with the Tuya platform, you can use this hub to do so. If you want to add the Nanoleaf lights to additional platforms, you should still be able to use this hub as a Thread Border Router, but you would still need a Matter controller for those additional platforms.

    Is it me or is this all quite hard? With a home that is uses Alexa and Lightwave as well as Tuya devices, getting something so they all be used through Alexa seems impossible. Will this device enable me to use the Tuya wall lighting touchscreens? but I assume not a chance with the lightwave and alex yet?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, if the Tuya touchscreen is ‘Tuya Certified’, ZemiSmart state it will work with this hub. I don’t use Alexa, but I assume that features beyond the basic switch function will not be exposed directly to Alexa, so setup for other devices to be controlled through the switch (curtain motors, fans etc) would have to be set up in the Tuya app first.
      The hub uses Matter, but if the switches aren’t supported in Alexa this way, you can still add the hub using the old ‘skills’ method, which connects your Tuya account to your Amazon Alexa account. As regards LightWave, I assumed they work with Alexa, but only through their own Lightwave bridge.

    I have a "Threadless" home - older Apple HomePods and TV - and need a Thread Border Router to control new NanoLeaf bulbs - which require Thread. So far - a couple of days - I haven't been able to setup a Thread network with this thing. Using the "Smart Home" app that gets loaded from the QR code in the instructions, I can get a page that shows the hub as working. But trying to add a NanoLeaf bulb I get the "Thread Border Router Required" message. So - is this NOT a border router after all? If it is, I'm now clueless as to how to enable that. Sigh.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, it definitely has a Thread Border Router, but let me look into it further and get back to you. I don’t have it set up at present, but I’ll do some tests and let you know. Just one question - are the Nanoleaf bulbs HomeKit over Thread or Matter over Thread?

    • @stuartdole6644
      @stuartdole6644 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@homekitnews Hi - thanks! The new bulbs are replacing older NanoLeafs that are before Thread - only WiFi and BlueTooth - that seem to have failing power supplies. The new bulbs are Thread only - no WiFI? - and the box says "Matter Smart Bulb". So I'd guess it's Matter over Thread. (I can access the new bulb and control it with the "Leaf" app over BlueTooth, but can't add it to HomeKit/Apple Home - runs into the "Thread Border Router Required" message.) (I also get that funny message about the door lock, even after the firmware update.)

      @@homekitnews Hi again - I *think* I added the hub into HomeKit - I added the room where it will live, then boinked the "+", and scanned the QR code for the hub - HomeKit thinks it's a "bridge", which seems hopeful. It doesn't show in the room in HomeKit's room view. And adding a bulb, it doesn't see the Thread Border Router and fails. Or maybe the border routing isn't active in the first place? The "Smart Home" app shows the basic M1 router, but adding a sub-device fails - the app seems to get stuck. Sigh. Time to cook dinner...

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stuartdole6644 ok, the M1 is indeed a bridge, but the Apple Home app won’t show it in the room, which is normal. If you want to double check that it’s definitely there, on the main Screen of the Home app, tap the circle in the top left corner with three dots, then select Home Settings, and from there select Home Hubs & Bridges, and it should be listed in the room you chose. Assuming the Thread Border Router function in the M1 is up to the current Thread spec, it should be accessible for use within Apple Home, but I’ll look into this further and get back to you.

      I have a similar issue with this hub and the Zemismart 4 gang scene switch which had worked with their HomeKit hub i.e. switches not exposed to HomeKit.
      After some searching on their shop, I noticed they list the wall switch as one of the supported devices but not the scene switch. So maybe support will be there in time.
